Fillingham

Ingham is a civil parish in the West Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England. It lies 7 miles (11 km) geographically north of the centre of Lincoln and it can be accessed by taking the B1398 road, which runs parallel to the main A15 (Ermine Street).

West Lindsey is a local government district in Lincolnshire, England. Its council is based in Gainsborough, the district's largest town. The district also includes the towns of Caistor and Market Rasen, along with numerous villages and surrounding rural areas. The east of the district includes part of the Lincolnshire Wolds, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The neighbouring districts are North Lincolnshire, North East Lincolnshire, East Lindsey, North Kesteven, Lincoln, Newark and Sherwood and Bassetlaw.

Glentworth is a village and civil parish in the West Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England. The population of the parish (including Caenby Corner) was 323 at the 2011 census. It is situated approximately 10 miles (16 km) north from the centre of the city and county town of Lincoln, and just over 1 mile (1.6 km) south-west from Caenby Corner. The name Glentworth comes from the Old English glente + worth for "enclosure frequented by birds of prey". In the Domesday Book it is noted as "Glentewrde".The Church of England parish church of Saint Michael dates from three periods, as shown by the varied masonry of its outside walls. The oldest part is the Anglo-Saxon tower. The middle section of the present church is the product of Georgian and Victorian rebuilding. Its eastern end, with its rougher stonework, is largely Elizabethan.Glentworth is the site of Glentworth Hall, an Elizabethan country house built by Christopher Wray.Villagers construct scarecrows for an annual themed 'Glentworth Scarecrows' competition event.

Royal Air Force Cammeringham or more simply RAF Cammeringham (formerly RAF Ingham) was a Royal Air Force station used by RAF Bomber Command between 1940 and 1945 and the Polish Air Force until 1946. The airfield was located between the A15 (Ermine Street) and B1398 roads, 10.3 mi (16.6 km) north of the city Lincoln, Lincolnshire, England and due east of the village of Ingham. Mainly used as an overflow airfield for nearby RAF Hemswell and later as a training establishment, its continued use was limited by damage to its grassed runways. The airfield closed in early December 1946.

Cammeringham is a village and civil parish in the West Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England. It is situated 6 miles (10 km) north of Lincoln, and just off the A15 road near RAF Scampton. According to the 2001 census the village had a population of 123, increasing slightly to 127 at the 2011 census.Cammeringham Grade II* listed Anglican church is dedicated to St Michael. St Michael's is a remnant of a much larger church; arches from the earlier building are embedded into its aisle wall, and the west doorway has a pre-Conquest knotwork sill. The graveyard holds ancient graves hollowed out of rock.Within the parish was the Praemonstratensian Cammeringham Priory, founded by Richard de Haya about 1160 as an alien cell to the Abbey of Blanchelande in Normandy. The priory and its rights was sold in 1396 to the Cistercian Abbot of Hulton in Staffordshire.John de Bothby, Lord Chancellor of Ireland, who died in about 1383, is recorded as owning a manor at Cammeringham. RAF Ingham was renamed RAF Cammeringham in 1944. The airfield is now disused and derelict.

Cammeringham Priory was a priory in Cammeringham, Lincolnshire, England, and was one of nine Premonstratensian houses in the historical county. It was an Alien house granted by 1126 to the abbey of L'Essay in the diocese of Coutances, by Robert de Haya, with the advice of his wife Muriel, and also to the Premonstratensian abbey of Blanchelande in Normandy. A dispute arose between the two abbeys, which was settled in favour of Blanchelande in 1192, by William Bishop of Coutances. The advowson of the priory passed first to Alice, countess of Lancaster, and from her to Hugh le Despenser, 1st in 1325. Shortly afterwards it reverted to the King. In 1396 the abbot of Blanchelande sold all his rights in the house to the Cistercian abbot of Hulton in Staffordshire. At the Dissolution of the Monasteries it was granted to Robert Tyrwhitt. Cammeringham Manor House, built around 1730, retains the now blocked-up cellars of the priory, though there is no visible evidence above ground level.

Hemswell Cliff is a village and civil parish in the West Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England. It is situated on the A631 road between Caenby Corner and Gainsborough and on the Lincoln Cliff escarpment. According to the 2001 Census it had a population of 683.RAF Hemswell was located on the site from 1937 until it closed in 1967. The airfield site was subsequently redeveloped into a private trading estate and the RAF married quarters into a residential area which became a newly created civil parish of Hemswell Cliff. The old village of Hemswell remains as a separate parish.By mid-2008 there was no longer RAF presence on the site, which became civilian. The site's old H-Block buildings contains an antique centre, shops, a garden centre, hairdresser, used book shop and cafés. The RAF sold the community centre (originally built as the Sergeants' Mess) in 2009 but it remained unused until 2021 when the Broadcast Engineering Conservation Group, a charity, bought it. They began to repair 12 years of decay and started to create the Broadcast Engineering Museum. The group held its first public open days in September 2022.Hemswell Cliff Primary School is in the village.

Royal Air Force Hemswell or more simply RAF Hemswell is a former Royal Air Force (RAF) station located 7.8 miles (12.6 km) east of Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, England. Located close to the village of Hemswell in Lincolnshire, England the disestablished airfield is now in full use as a civilian industrial and retail trading estate, forming part of the newly created parish of Hemswell Cliff along with the station's married quarters and RAF built primary school that are now in non-military ownership. The airfield was used by RAF Bomber Command for 20 years between 1937 and 1957 and saw most of its operational life during the Second World War. It was used again by Bomber Command as a nuclear ballistic missile base during the Cold War and then closed to military use in 1967.On 19 March 1940 RAF Hemswell-based Handley Page Hampdens of No. 61 Squadron RAF were the first Bomber Command aircraft to drop bombs on German soil during the Second World War. The target was the Hörnum seaplane base on the northern Germany coast. RAF Hemswell was used as a substitute for RAF Scampton in all the ground-based filming of the 1954 war film The Dam Busters

Harpswell is a village and civil parish in the West Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England. It is situated just west off the junction of the A631 and B1398, and 12 miles (19 km) north from the city and county town of Lincoln. According to the 2001 census Harpswell had a population of 65. In 2011 the Office for National Statistics issued combined results for Hemswell and Harpswell, totalling 391 in 179 households.Nearby RAF Hemswell was called Harpswell airfield when it first opened in 1916. The parish church of St Chad's has a Saxon tower and was restored around 1890. It is a Grade I listed building.

Caenby Corner is a small area in the West Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England, at the roundabout junction of the A15 and A631 roads. Close to the village of Caenby, it is situated on what was a major Roman road known as Ermine Street leading from London to the North of England. The junction is 10 miles (16 km) north from the city and county town of Lincoln. It is in the civil parish of Glentworth. On Caenby Corner roundabout is a filling station with shop and separate coffee shop, a private residence and the closed Moncks Arms hotel with adjacent transport cafe and lorry park. The hotel had for many years been derelict, but in 2007 there were plans to redevelop it. Despite the re-cladding to the outside of the building, the hotel has never re-opened.

Brattleby is a village and civil parish in the West Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 111, having slightly fallen from a figure of 113 quoted on the 2001 census. It is situated 5 miles (8 km) north of Lincoln, to the west of the A15, and near to RAF Scampton. In 1981 the village was designated a conservation area.
