Port of Motril

Maruja García beach, commonly called Playa Maruja, is located in the Spanish municipalities of Motril and Torrenueva Costa, in the province of Granada, autonomous community of Andalusia. With a width of about 15 meters, it is a dark sand beach that runs along 300 m of coastline between the Port of Motril and Torrenueva Costa. It is located between Playa del Cañón and Playa de La Chincheta. Easily accessible, it has a low occupancy level.It is one of the most recommended beaches to visit on the Costa Tropical.The beach refers to Maruja García, a neighbor of the municipality of Torrenueva Costa, named in her honor on behalf of all the mothers, grandmothers and working women of the municipality.

Motril (Spanish pronunciation: [moˈtɾil]) is a town and municipality on the Mediterranean coast in Granada, Spain. It is the second largest town in the province, with a population of 60,368 as of 2016. The town is located near the Guadalfeo River and is 69 km (43 mi) from Granada.

Estadio Municipal Escribano Castilla de Motril is a multi-purpose stadium in Motril, Spain, with a capacity of 4,400 people. It is used mostly for football matches, and is the home ground of CF Motril. On 24 November, 2011, a qualifying match for the UEFA Women's Euro 2013 between Spain and Germany was held in the stadium.

Torrenueva Costa is a newly-created (2018) Spanish Municipality in the province of Granada and in the autonomous community Andalucía. It is located in the central part of the region of the Granada coast, and was formerly part of the municipality of Motril, from which it was constitutionally separated on 2 October 2018. Beside this locality are found the centres of El Varadero, La Chucha and Carchuna. It fills the occidental part of the cape Sacratif. The name of Torrenueva is taken from a century XVII defensive watchtower situated in the locality, in the south edge of the highway N-340 between Málaga and Almería, which runs through the locality. As an eminently touristic location, its beaches are populated by numerous swimmers from many sources-mainly from the rest of the granadine province, Jaén and Ciudad Real- during the summer months. In low season, local population is very low.

Salobreña (pronounced [saloˈβɾeɲa], < Phoenician Salambina Salawbiniya) is a town on the Costa Tropical in Granada, Spain. It claims a history stretching back 6,000 years. There are two main parts of Salobreña; The first is The Old Town which sits atop a rocky prominence and is a cluster of whitewashed houses and steep narrow streets leading up to a tenth-century Moorish castle, called 'Castillo de Salobreña' and it is one of its main tourist attractions. The second part of Salobreña is new developments which spread from the bottom of the Old Town right to the beach. The whole town is almost surrounded by sugarcane fields on each side along the coast and further inland. Another tourist attraction in Salobreña is 'El Peñón' (The Rock), which divides two of Salobreña's five beaches and juts out between Playa La Guardia and Playa de la Charca/Solamar and into the sea.

Castillo de Salobreña is located in Salobreña, in the province of Granada, Spain. The existence of a known fortification in Salobreña dates from the 10th century. The current structure which was built during the Nasrid dynasty. Trapezoidal in shape, it has four towers. It was declared a Bien de Interés Cultural monument in 1993.

Costa Granadina is a comarca in southern Spain, corresponding to the Mediterranean coastline of the province of Granada. It is also but less frequently called the Costa Tropical or Costa de Granada. It is crossed by the N-340 coastal highway that runs southwest–northeast along Spain's Mediterranean coast, to the border with France. Within the last 4 years the A7 motorway has been extended along the coast from Nerja in the Málaga province to Motril where it links the A7 motorway to the A44 motorway which heads north from Motril to the city of Granada.

Molvízar is a small town and municipality located in the province of Granada, in Spain. Between 1905 and 2005, the population has ranged between 1500 and 3500 inhabitants. It is located in the foothills of the mountains of southern Spain, approximately five kilometres from the Costa Tropical coast. Agriculture is a large part of its economy, with an increasing contribution from European tourism, with visitors attracted by its year-round temperate weather. Locals celebrate the patron saint, Santa Ana, on July 26, during which the town puts forth a traditional representation of "Moros y Cristianos" (Moors and Christians), which commemorates the Reconquista expulsion of the Moors from Spain. The city is also the birthplace of anarchist revolutionary Antonio Ramón.

Ítrabo is a municipality in the province of Granada, Spain. As of 2010 Itrabo had a population of 1,152 inhabitants.

Lújar is a village in southern Spain in the Sierra Nevada, a couple of kilometres inland from the coast and the city of Motril along a fairly precipitous road. Its coordinates are 36°47′15″N 3°24′5″W (36.7877, -3.4016). Its population is approximately 1,200.

Gualchos (or Gualchos-Castell de Ferro) is a town in the Spanish province of Granada. It has an area of 31 square kilometers and a population, in 2001, of 2,759, for a population density of 89 people per square kilometer. [1]

Almuñécar (Spanish pronunciation: [almuˈɲekaɾ]) is a Spanish city and municipality located in the southwestern part of the comarca of the Costa Granadina, in the province of Granada. It is located on the shores of the Mediterranean sea and borders the Granadin municipalities of Otívar, Jete, Ítrabo and Salobreña, and with the Malagueño municipality of Nerja. The Verde river runs through its term. The municipality of sexitano includes the population centers of Almuñécar —municipal capital—, La Herradura, Velilla-Taramay, Torrecuevas, Río Seco, El Rescate and El Cerval. Since 1975, the town has become one of the most important tourist towns in Granada province and on the Costa Granadina; it has good transport connections and a football (soccer) stadium. Almuñécar is an important setting in Laurie Lee's account of the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War in As I Walked Out One Midsummer Morning, and referred to as "Castillo" to disguise people's identities. Almuñécar's coat of arms, which shows the turbaned heads of three Barbary pirates floating in the sea, was granted to the town by King Carlos I in 1526 for its having destroyed a Berber raiding force.
