Llandrinio

Llandrinio Bridge, Llandrinio, Powys, Wales, is a road bridge over the River Severn. Constructed between 1769 and 1775, the bridge is attributed to John Gwynn of Shrewsbury, a noted local architect who designed a number of crossings over the Severn, as well as Magdalen Bridge in Oxford. The bridge is also the site of defensive structures dating to World War II, including a pillbox disguised as an agricultural cowshed and Dragon's teeth tank traps at its northern end. The bridge is a Grade I listed structure and a Scheduled monument.

Llandrinio Road railway station was a station to the northeast of Criggion, Powys, Wales. The station opened in 1871 and closed in 1932. The station was sited a mile to the south east of Llandrinio at Criggion Bridge on the road to Crew Green hence the "Road" suffix. There was a single brick platform on the west side of the road level crossing with a goods siding on the north side of the line.

Criggion railway station was a station in Criggion, Powys, Wales. The station opened in 1871 and closed in 1932. The station house now forms two private residences.

Criggion (Welsh: Crugion) is a village in Powys, Wales. Criggion Radio Station was located nearby. A branch of the now defunct Shropshire and Montgomeryshire Railway terminated at Criggion. St Michael and All Angels's church was built in red brick in 1770 and a stone-built chancel added in the mid-19th century. It is a grade II* listed building.

The River Morda is a minor river in Wrexham County Borough and Powys, Wales and Shropshire, England, lying mainly to the south-west of the town of Oswestry. The river flows in a generally eastward direction from its source near Llechrydau, Wrexham, across the England–Wales border to its convergence with the River Vyrnwy near Domgay. The river's drainage basin covers an area of approximately 30 km2, which includes one relatively large tributary to the east amongst several smaller streams that flow into the main channel. The predominant land use along the course of the river is agriculture, with large expanses of open pasture. Beyond Llawnt, the river flows through wooded terrain for about a kilometre before reaching Morda where the river encounters the first urbanised area along its route. The main stem of the river has been divided into two sections for classification purposes with a total length of 27.1 kilometres (16.8 mi).

Admiral Rodney's Pillar (Welsh: Pilar Rodney) is a monument on Breidden Hill in Powys, Wales. It was built in 1781–82 to commemorate the naval victories of Sir George Brydges Rodney, Admiral of the White during the American War of Independence. The pillar is of local stone, 54 feet (16 m) high, and topped with a drum and finial, which replaced the original gilded ball after a lightning strike in 1847. A granite panel states that it was erected by the "Gentlemen of Montgomeryshire" to commemorate the naval successes of Admiral Rodney including the Battle of the Saints. The pillar is a conspicuous landmark around the Upper Severn Valley and is a Grade II* listed building.An inscription in Welsh, which had disappeared by 1890, translated as "RODNEY'S PILLAR. The highest pillar will fall, the strongest towers will decay: but the fame of Sir George Brydges Rodney shall increase continually, and his good name shall never be obliterated."

Bausley with Criggion is a community in Montgomeryshire, Powys, Wales, 87 miles (140 km) from Cardiff and 148 miles (238 km) from London. The Bausley and Criggion Community Council dates back to at least 1761. Villages within the community include Criggion, Crewgreen and Coedway.In 2011 the population of Bausley with Criggion was 706 with 7.8% of them able to speak Welsh. In terms of Welsh identity, the community had the lowest percentage in the whole of Powys. The Criggion Radio Station is located in this community, a transmitter latterly operated by BT on behalf of the UK Ministry of Defence. The Church of St Michael and All Angels, Criggion, is a Grade II* listed building. The Bausley with Criggion Community Council has eight locally elected councillors who represent the community's opinions and interests.Wales football international Stan Rowlands was born at Coedway in 1889. He went on to make Football League appearances for Wrexham, Nottingham Forest and Crewe Alexandra.

Breidden Hill is an extinct volcanic hill in Powys, Wales, near the town of Welshpool. It is immediately surrounded by the villages of Trewern, Middletown, Criggion, Crew Green and Llandrinio. The peak of the hill reaches to 367 metres (1,204 ft). Footpaths which lead up to the summit provide excellent 360 degree views over Powys and over the border with England to the Shropshire Plain. Breidden Hill is one of five peaks with neighbouring Moel y Golfa, which is the highest at 403 metres (1,322 ft), which is a "Marilyn", with a prominence of 261 metres (856 ft). The three others are Cefn y Castell (also known as Middletown Hill), Kempsters Hill and Bausley Hill (all over 800 feet (240 m) high) with its Iron Age galleried fortification. The five hills are sometimes collectively known as the Breidden Hills, and form a northern extension of the Long Mountain. There are remains of a British Iron Age hillfort en route which may have been the site of the last stand of Caractacus. Rodney's Pillar at the top was built by the gentlemen of Montgomeryshire who supplied oak wood from the area and shipped it down the River Severn (which runs nearby at Bausley with Criggion) to Bristol where Admiral Rodney's naval fleet was built. Rodney's Pillar is increasingly being used as a navigational aid by helicopter pilots in this area, due to its visibility from large areas of Wales. Beginning around 1789, for many years members of the Breidden Society, founded by John Dovaston (1740–1808), met near Rodney's Pillar for an annual festival of food, drink, poetry, and song; records of their meetings for 1809–15 are preserved at the Houghton Library of Harvard University (MS Eng 1168).There is a large quarry on the western and northern sides of Breidden Hill. The rock is a thick gabbroic-dolerite laccolith, which is a source of roadstone.On 27 June 2018, a wildfire broke out on Breidden Hill, destroying an area of grassland close to Rodney's Pillar.

Maesbrook railway station was a station in Maesbrook, Shropshire, England. The station was opened in 1866 and closed in 1933.

Criggion Radio Station was a transmitter site latterly operated by BT on behalf of the UK Ministry of Defence. It was located near the village of Criggion in the parish of Bausley with Criggion, which lies in the county of Powys, Wales. It was established in World War II as a back-up unit for Rugby Radio Station and took over the latter's traffic for a short period in 1943 following a fire at Rugby. Operating on 19.6 kHz with the callsign GBZ, the station was used until its shutdown on 1 April 2003 for sending messages to submarines. This task (and that of Rugby) is now carried out by the Anthorn radio station. Criggion's VLF antenna was hung from three free-standing steel lattice towers at 182.9 metres (600 ft) tall, three guyed masts at 213.4 metres (700 ft) tall and a rock anchor. The towers and masts were demolished in August 2003 but, although there is now less obvious visible evidence that a large radio station existed on the site, the derelict main transmitting building still survived in 2011 and the foundation sites of the former masts can be still be located on satellite and aerial photographs. As of May 2013 the remaining parts of the station were reported to be in a state of disrepair.

Four Crosses Football Club is a Welsh football team based in the village of Four Crosses, Montgomeryshire, in northern Powys, Wales. They play in the Central Wales Northern Division, which is in the fourth tier of the Welsh football league system.

Wern Las railway station was a station to the west of Kinnerley, Shropshire, England. The station was opened in 1919 and closed in 1933.
