Bayswater Brook

Ascot Racecourse is the major racecourse in Perth, Western Australia, situated approximately 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) east of the Perth central business district, with the headquarters of the Perth Racing positioned directly opposite. It is regarded as the "grand old lady" of Australian racecourses. It has a 2-kilometre (1.2 mi) track with modern, well drained turf, and a 300-metre (980 ft) track inclining straight regarded by experts as the most severe test of stayers in Australia.

The Eric Singleton Bird Sanctuary is an artificial wetland in Bayswater, Western Australia, a suburb of Perth. The Bayswater Brook discharges into the wetlands, which in turn discharges into the Swan River. In 2015, it underwent a rehabilitation project in order to improve the water quality and attract more wildlife.

The Ascot Brick Works is a heritage listed former brick works located in Ascot, Western Australia. The brick works were constructed between 1929 and 1950 and used by Bristile until they ceased operations at the site in 1982.

Ascot is a suburb of Perth, covering a narrow strip of land along the southern bank of the Swan River approximately 10 kilometres (6 mi) east of the Perth central business district. Its local government area is the City of Belmont. The suburb, which was previously part of Belmont and Redcliffe, was officially established on 7 March 1991, with the boundaries being approved on 22 March 1991. It was named after the Ascot Racecourse, a major horse-racing track located within the suburb's boundaries.

Garratt Road Bridge consists of two adjacent bridges over the Swan River, linking the suburbs of Bayswater and Ascot in Perth, Western Australia. The upstream bridge was built in 1935, while the matching downstream bridge was built in 1972. The site was significant prior to the construction of Garratt Road Bridge – it featured in Aboriginal mythology, and was in the near vicinity of 1880s bridges for pedestrians and trains. From that time there were various proposal to provide a vehicular crossing between Bayswater and Bassendean. Interest peaked in 1928, but plans were delayed due to the Great Depression. The first bridge, designed by Main Roads Chief Engineer Ernest Godfrey, was constructed in 1934–35. It allowed two lanes of traffic to cross the Swan River, alongside pedestrians on an adjacent footbridge. Increasing traffic volume led to the bridge being widened by one and a half metres (5 ft) in 1962. By the end of that decade, a second bridge was being planned to cope with rising levels of congestion. It was constructed during 1971–72, but with only a 40-year design life as it was expected to be redundant once the planned Beechboro–Gosnells Highway (modern-day Tonkin Highway) opened. From the 1970s, Main Roads has maintained the bridges with procedures that vastly extended the bridges' lifespans, including concrete overlays on the decks, and retrofitting of steel girders. The heritage value of the structure was recognised in 1998, and Garratt Road Bridge was included in the City of Bayswater's Municipal Heritage Inventory. Eleven years later, in 2009, it was added to the state heritage list, and a permanent entry was given on 23 March 2010.

The Ascot Water Playground is a former recreation facility in Ascot, Western Australia. Built in 1975 under the Labor government's Red Scheme for the long-term unemployed, it was officially opened in November 1977 at a cost of $326,156. The complex had pools, water slides, and mini-golf. The park closed in 2002 because of new occupational health and safety laws, as well as river run-off laws.It was added to the Municipal Heritage Inventory in 2003.

Redcliffe Bridge is a traffic bridge which carries Tonkin Highway across the Swan River between the Perth suburbs of Ascot and Bayswater. It is named after Redcliffe, which is a nearby suburb. Designed by Maunsell & Partners and built by Thiess Contractors, construction of the bridge started in 1986. The bridge was constructed using an incremental launch technique, and cost A$15 million to complete. It was officially opened on 16 April 1988. The bridge is 271 metres (889 ft) long, with five spans and a pre-stressed concrete deck 34 metres (112 ft) wide, supporting six lanes of traffic. The structure of the bridge is that of a hollow box girder, with the outer sides of the deck supported by special Y-beams.

Parry Field is a former sports venue in Belmont, a suburb of Perth, Western Australia. The ground is best known for being the home of baseball team Perth Heat between 1989 and 1997. The stadium was built in 1983 on the site of Belmont Oval which had been primarily used for soccer and rugby league. After the demolition of the baseball stadium, the land became known as Grove Farm Reserve.

The City of Belmont is a local government area in the inner eastern suburbs of the Western Australian capital city of Perth, located about 8 kilometres (5 mi) east of Perth's central business district on the south bank of the Swan River. The City covers an area of 39.8 square kilometres (15.4 sq mi), maintains 225 km of roads and had a population of almost 40,000 as at the 2016 Census. The City of Belmont is a member of the Eastern Metropolitan Regional Council Belmont contains Perth's domestic and international airports which account for 33.7% of the City of Belmont's land area.

Belmont is a suburb of Perth, the capital city of Western Australia, and is located 7 kilometres (4 mi) east of Perth's central business district (CBD) on the southern bank of the Swan River. Its local government area is the City of Belmont. The suburb, part of a land grant assigned to Captain Francis Henry Byrne in 1831, was believed to have been named Belmont after Byrne's estate in England. The land was purchased by Shepherd Smith of Sydney in 1882, who subdivided it in 1897–1898.The local government body based in Belmont was originally known as the Belmont Park Road Board.The suburb was known as "Belmont Park" until being renamed in 1968.Today, the suburb is mixed-use in character. The western part of the suburb is primarily industrial and commercial, while the east and north are more residential, with various motels and other accommodation along Great Eastern Highway, which forms the suburb's north-western boundary. It contains two public schools—Belmont Primary School, and Belmont City College (formerly Belmont Senior High School)—as well as Centenary Park, Signal Hill Bushland, the Belgravia Residential Estate and a 500-metre (1,600 ft) section on the south bank of the Swan River. Belmont possesses a sister city partnership with Adachi, Tokyo in Japan, which has been in place since October 1984.

Kuljak Island, also known as Black Swan Island, is an artificial island in the Swan River. Situated between Ron Courtney Island upstream and Heirisson Island downstream, Kuljak Island is east of Maylands Peninsula and south of Garratt Road Bridge. Kuljak Island is surrounded by a number of smaller, also artificial, islets, and is entirely within the boundaries of the suburb of Ascot.

Redcliffe is a suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located in the City of Belmont local government area. The boundaries of the suburb are determined by the Great Eastern Highway, Tonkin Highway and Epsom Avenue, Belmont, and the grounds of the Perth International Airport which lie on the eastern edge of the suburb.The story of its name is ambiguous: while some claim it was named after steep red clay deposits that lined the banks of the Swan River when settlers first arrived, others claim that it was named after the ancestral home of an early settler. The suburb was once a single property near modern-day Water Street and the main house, "Nulsen Haven" still stands today. The local primary school was built in 1908 and at this time, Redcliffe had been transformed from one property into many small farms after being subdivided in 1897. Modern Redcliffe is a mix of residential, semi-industrial and retail buildings. It is 18 minutes from the Perth central business district and a short walk from the Swan River.
