Marymont

The Monument to the Volhynia 27th Home Army Infantry Division is located in Skwerze Wołyńskim (Volyn Square) beside the main thoroughfare Trasa Armii Krajowej in northern Warsaw. It commemorates the contribution of the Armia Krajowa's 27th Infantry Division during World War II, especially fighting the Ukrainian Insurgent Army at the time of the Volhynia massacres. The memorial was designed by sculptor Kazimierz Danilewicz (who was born in Volhynia). It was unveiled on 12 September 1993. The monument is shaped like a large stone sword. On the 13 July 2003 a set of 11 stone column "candles" was unveiled, commemorating the martyrdom of Poles from Volhynia's 11 counties, the victims of the Volhynia massacres. Each column has a coat of arms and a name of a county from Volhynia. The columns are terminated with a "wick" - the columns are illuminated from below with lights hidden in the pavement. To the right of the monument is a bust of General Jan Wojciech Kiwerski, a leader of the infantry division, who died during the war.

Metro Marymont is the 17th working station on Line M1 of the Warsaw Metro, opened on 29 December 2006 as the northern terminus of an extension from Plac Wilsona. It is located in the Marymont neighbourhood of Warsaw. Since the station has no reversing facility of its own, from its opening until 20 March 2008 it was connected to the rest of the network by a single train providing shuttle service to the nearest station at Plac Wilsona. With the completion of the next station on the line, Słodowiec, equipped with a reversing facility, on 23 April 2008, this was no longer necessary, and Marymont station is now serviced by all metro trains running on the line.

The Żywiciel's Soldiers Park is an urban park in Warsaw, Poland. It is located in the district of Żoliborz, between Popiełuszki Street, Próchnika Street, Sarmatów Street, and Harcerska Street. It was opened in the 1950s.

Plac Wilsona (English: Wilson Square) is a station on Line M1 of the Warsaw Metro. It is located below Wilson Square in the Żoliborz district in northern Warsaw.The station was opened on 20 December 2003 as the northern terminus of the extension from Dworzec Gdański. On 29 December 2006 the line was extended further north to Marymont as shuttle service, and on 20 March 2008 as normal service.On 7 April 2008 during the Metrorail convention it won a Metro award for the best recently constructed station. It was designed by Polish architect Andrzej M. Chołdzyński.

Saint Stanislaus Kostka Church is a parish church in Warsaw, Poland, located at Hozjusz Street 2 near Plac Wilsona. It is the most significant church in the Żoliborz district. It is dedicated to St. Stanislaus Kostka, a 16th-century Jesuit. The parish was created in 1927 in the area on the northern outskirts of city, which was the site of significant development during the interbellum period. Construction on the monumental Neo-Romanesque church building began in 1930, but was interrupted by World War II, and not completed until 1963. The church is the well-known Sanctuary of Blessed Jerzy Popiełuszko, who was the spiritual leader of Solidarność and was killed by the Communists in 1984. From 1980 he conducted very popular Masses for the Fatherland that became a kind of manifesto for the social movement and protesters, attracting people from all around Poland. This is also the place of his burial, and his grave is situated beside the church. The site was visited by Pope John Paul II in 1987. An estimated 20,000,000 people from over 100 countries have visited.

Żoliborz (Polish pronunciation: [ʐɔˈlʲibɔʂ]) is one of the northern districts of the city of Warsaw. It is located directly to the north of the City Centre, on the left bank of the Vistula river. It has approximately 50,000 inhabitants and is one of the smallest boroughs of Warsaw. Historically an upscale neighbourhood and home to Warsaw's intelligentsia prior to World War II, Żoliborz is the second most expensive residential district in Warsaw after Śródmieście.

The tomb of Blessed Father Jerzy Popiełuszko (Polish: Grób bł. ks. Jerzego Popiełuszki) is a monumental grave marker of the Polish priest Jerzy Popiełuszko, designed by Jerzy Kalina, located in Warsaw. Popiełuszko was to be buried in the Powązki Cemetery. However, the parish priest of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Warsaw, Fr. Teofil Bogucki, the faithful and numerous friends of the murdered chaplain asked Primate Józef Glemp to bury the Popiełuszko in the church.

Plac Wilsona ("Wilson Square") is the chief square of northern Warsaw's Żoliborz district. It is also one of the Polish capital's main transport hubs, with several bus and streetcars stops (opened to the public June 1, 1934). Wilson Square was established in the late 1920s as the main center of the newly formed district, and one of the star-shaped squares that sprang up all over Warsaw. Named for U.S. President Woodrow Wilson, after World War II (1953) it was renamed Plac Komuny Paryskiej (Paris Commune Square). In 1990 the original name was restored. Beneath the square is a Warsaw Metro station (the Wilson Square metro station).

The Monument to the Military Endeavour of Polish Americans, also known as the Haller's Soldiers Monument, is a monument in Warsaw, Poland, placed at the Grunwald Square, near the crossing of Polish Army Avenue and Wyspiańskiego Street. It was made by Baltazar Brukalski and Andrzej Pityński, and unveiled on 14 August 1998. The monument is dedicated to the Polish American and Polish Canadian soldiers who served in the Blue Army during the First World War.

The Grunwald Square (Polish: Plac Grunwaldzki) is an urban square in Warsaw, Poland. It is located in the district of Żoliborz, at the crossing of Broniewskiego Street, Jana Pawła II Avenue, Popiełuszki Street, Wojska Polskiego Avenue, and Matysiakówny Street.

Metro Słodowiec is the 18th working station on Line M1 of the Warsaw Metro. It was opened on 23 April 2008 as the northern terminus of the extension from Marymont. On 25 October 2008, the line was extended further north to Młociny.

Alina, a Girl with a Jug, also simply known as Alina, and as Girl with a Jug, is a statue located in the Stefan Żeromski Park in Warsaw, Poland. It was made by Henryk Kuna, and unvailed in 1936. The sculpture depicts a woman holding a jug, and is placed on top of a fountain. It is commonly regarded as a symbol of the city district of Żoliborz.
