Kennet and Lambourn Floodplain

Denford Park is a country house and surrounding estate in the English county of Berkshire, within the civil parish of Kintbury. The estate lies near to the A4 road, and is located approximately 1.5 miles (2.4 km) north-east of Hungerford. Denford House was extended in 1832 for George Henry Cherry who bought it from William Hallett Esq the original owner, being designed by the architect, Jeffery Wyattville. It was the home of Apsley Cherry-Garrard, the Antarctic explorer. Between 1967 and 2002, the building housed Norland College. In 2002 Denford Park was purchased by Faisal bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and is the location of his Denford Stud.

Avington is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Kintbury, in the West Berkshire district, in the ceremonial county of Berkshire, England. The village is on the River Kennet, just under 1 mile (1.6 km) northwest of Kintbury village and 2 miles (3 km) east of the town of Hungerford. The Kennet and Avon Canal follows the river and passes the village. In 1931 the parish had a population of 77. On 1 April 1934 the parish was abolished and merged with Kintbury.

Brunsdon Lock is a lock on the Kennet and Avon Canal, near Kintbury, Berkshire, England. The lock has a rise/fall of 4 ft 11 in (1.5 m). The Lock is also known as Brunsden Lock and was the site of a coal and grain merchant's business called Brunsdens for many years. It is a grade II listed building.

Winding Wood is a hamlet and a wood in the West Berkshire district, in the English county of Berkshire. It is south of the M4 motorway and north of the larger hamlet of Clapton.

The River Dun (historically known as Bedwyn Brook) is a tributary of the River Kennet, flowing through Wiltshire and Berkshire in England. Its main source is in the parish of Great Bedwyn, Wiltshire and it flows 16 kilometres (10 mi) in a northeasterly direction into Berkshire. It discharges into the Kennet at Hungerford, which has a smaller average flow and width upstream of that point. The Dun valley is an important transport route through the high chalklands between the London Basin to the east and the Vale of Pewsey to the west. It is the route by which the Kennet and Avon Canal (linking London and Bristol) enters the Thames basin from the Vale of Pewsey, crossing the watershed with the aid of the Bruce Tunnel and Crofton Pumping Station. The later Reading to Plymouth railway linking London and the south-west also follows the valley. The Dun has two named tributaries: the Froxfield Stream joins on the left between Little Bedwyn and Hungerford, and the Shalbourne Stream on the right above Hungerford. During or after the building of the Kennet and Avon Canal in the late 18th century, the Shalbourne was diverted into it. In 2000 the stream was returned to its original course, rejoining the Dun via a culvert under the canal.

Lower Denford is a hamlet in the civil parish of Kintbury in the English county of Berkshire. The settlement lies adjacent to the A4 road, and is located approximately 1 mile (1.6 km) east of Hungerford.

Kintbury Abbey was a supposed Anglo-Saxon monastery at Kintbury in the English county of Berkshire. It was planned to refound it in 1147, but this never came to fruition. The only reference to this place is in the will of a thegn named Wulfgar, made in AD 931. In this, he gave the village of Inkpen to “the servants of God at Kentbury and the Holy Place there”. Saxon remains found near St Mary's Church may indicate the site. In 1147, Robert de Beaumont, 2nd Earl of Leicester planned to found a convent of Benedictine nuns, south of the River Kennet at Holt in Kintbury parish, but progression was slow and the grant was eventually transferred to the nuns at Nuneaton in Warwickshire.

Dun Mill Lock is a lock on the Kennet and Avon Canal, near Hungerford, Berkshire, England. The lock has a rise/fall of 5 ft 8 in (1.73 m).It is a grade II listed building.

Kintbury railway station serves the village of Kintbury in Berkshire, England. It is situated on the Reading to Taunton Line, 58 miles 38 chains (58.48 miles, 94.11 km) from London Paddington. The station was opened in 1847, along with the first portion of the Berks and Hants Railway as far as Hungerford. This was subsequently extended to Devizes and Westbury in 1862 and ultimately to Cogload Junction near Taunton by 1906. The station has a level crossing at its western end, controlled from a nearby crossing box that also remotely supervises the ones at Hamstead and Hungerford (though this will eventually be abolished and control transferred to the Thames Valley ROC at Didcot by CCTV).

Kintbury is a village and civil parish in the West Berkshire district, Berkshire, England, between the towns of Newbury and Hungerford. The village has a convenient railway to Paddington and Reading, proximity to other transport and local cultural destinations, including Roman and Norman sites, and forms part of a very large Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the North Wessex Downs which extends from the River Thames at Streatley to West Wiltshire. The parish includes the hamlets of Clapton, Elcot and Winding Wood.
