Bittaford

Moorhaven Hospital, built as Plymouth Asylum and initially named the Plymouth Borough Asylum, was a mental health facility in Ivybridge, Devon, England.

The Redlake Tramway was a railway built to carry supplies and workers between Bittaford and the clay workings at Redlake, near the centre of the southern part of Dartmoor, Devon, England. It was built in 1911 to a 3 ft (914 mm) narrow gauge, and ran for a circuitous 8.3 miles (13.4 km).

Ugborough () is a village and civil parish in South Hams in the English county of Devon. It lies south of Dartmoor, 2 miles (3.2 km) from the A38 road, near to the town of Ivybridge. The parish, which had a population of 1,884 in 2011, includes a number of settlements other than the village such as Bittaford, Wrangaton (which once had a railway station), Cheston, and Moorhaven Village. To the southeast of Ugborough, still within the parish, is Fowlescombe Manor. The bulk of the village encircles a village square on the south side of which is the large parish church dedicated to St Peter, with a history going back to 1121, when it was part of Plympton Convent. Modern day Ugborough has a small junior school and pre-school, a village hall. It holds a fair every year in July, with traditional games and stalls. A public bus service runs through Ugborough, as does a bus to the local secondary school at Ivybridge. The village has had a football team for many years which hosts three teams spanning ages from under-10s to under-16s. The under-16s finished third in the Pioneer Youth League in 2019. In the village hall, which doubles as a pre-school, various entertainments are held, mainly in the summer months, ranging from live music to themed evenings. More recently a Youth Group has been set up, catering to many of the village's children.

Butterdon Hill is on Dartmoor, in southwest England. The remains of a small stone circle and a stone row can be found on the summit. The name Butterdon is believed to derive an Old English word for "pasture".

Ivybridge railway station is situated on the Exeter to Plymouth line and serves the town of Ivybridge in Devon, England. It is 234 miles 27 chains (234.34 mi; 377.1 km) down the line from the zero point at London Paddington, measured via Box.

Stowford House is a former manor house in the South Hams district of Devon. It is close to the village of Harford. The building was designated a Grade II listed building on 23 April 1952. The house was the birthplace of Thomas Williams, speaker at the House of Commons, and John Prideaux, Bishop of Worcester. There has been a manor house on the grounds since the 14th century, and in 1400 there was a private chapel dedicated to St Nicholas. By 1664, the manor house and out buildings were recorded as having 14 hearths, implying that the house was much larger at the time. The house was significantly rebuilt during the 18th century, but parts of the old house from the 16th century remain. Built from stone rubble, the building is partly rendered, and partly ashlar. The roof of the building is slate, with external chimneystack on the north side. On the north and west sides of the buildings courtyard the mullion windows are bordered by hollow-chamfered stone. Over the west wing of the house, there is a large chimneystack made of stone, with battlements at the top. On the north end of the house, there is a moulded stone chimneystack. The front aspect of the building has a glaze porch, which includes pilasters. Inside the house is a large fireplace made of granite. One of the first-floor rooms has panelling from the 18th century, with a 16th-century moulded stone fireplace. The other rooms on the floor have granite fireplaces, one topped with an ogee. The building has been divided into three separate homes.

Glazebrook House is a building of historical significance in South Brent, Devon. Part of the house was built in about 1650 and was successively added to until it became the present structure. It was the residence of several notable people until 1972 when it was converted to a hotel. Today it is still a hotel which provides accommodation and restaurant facilities and caters for special events.

Fowelscombe is a historic manor in the parish of Ugborough in Devon, England. The large ancient manor house known as Fowelscombe House survives only as an ivy-covered "romantic ruin" overgrown by trees and nettles, situated 1 mile south-east of the village of Ugborough. The ruins are a Grade II listed building. It is believed to be one of three possible houses on which Conan Doyle based his "Baskerville Hall" in his novel The Hound of the Baskervilles, (1901–02) the others being Hayford Hall (also owned by John King (died 1861) of Fowelscombe) and Brook Manor.

Ivybridge Community College is a state-funded secondary school and academy in Ivybridge, Devon, England. Located on the southern slopes of Dartmoor, it takes students from the surrounding 100 square miles (260 km2) of the South Hams, from 14 contributory primary schools. It is the second-largest secondary school in Devon and among the ten largest secondary schools in England, with over 2,400 pupils, few of whom are from ethnic minorities and 14% of whom are registered special educational needs pupils. It has many departments and caters for special needs and disabled pupils, with sensory rooms and lifts for the pupils in wheelchairs. The SEND department team has four members who are assigned to disabled pupils. They have a range of different subjects and a Learning Resource Centre with computers and books. There are also a large range of clubs including gymnastics and football.

Ivybridge Town Hall is a municipal building at Erme Court in Ivybridge, a town in Devon, in England. It serves as the meeting place of Ivybridge Town Council.

Ivybridge is a town and civil parish in the South Hams, in Devon, England. It lies about thirteen miles (twenty-one kilometres) east of Plymouth. It is at the southern extremity of Dartmoor, a National Park of England and Wales and lies along the A38 "Devon Expressway" road. There are two electoral wards in Ivybridge East and Ivybridge West with a total population of 11,851. Mentioned in documents as early as the 13th century, Ivybridge's early history is marked by its status as an important crossing-point over the River Erme on the road from Exeter to Plymouth. In the 16th century mills were built using the River Erme's power. The parish of Saint John was formed in 1836. Ivybridge became a civil parish in 1894 and a town in 1977. The early urbanisation and development of Ivybridge largely coincided with the Industrial Revolution. Stowford Paper Mill was built in 1787 and rebuilt again in the 1860s with extensive investment. In 1848 the South Devon Railway arrived on the northern edge of the village. The paper mill closed in 2013 after 226 years in Ivybridge and the buildings are being converted to homes and shops. Ivybridge is often referred to as a commuter town, although a small proportion of people work in the town itself, and agriculture continues to play an economic role for the surrounding area. The area surrounding Ivybridge is varied and complex, including river valleys, farmland and dense woodland. While heavy industry diminished during the latter half of the 20th century, the population grew significantly from 1,574 people in 1921 to 12,056 in 2001.
