Ugborough

Bittaford is a village about a mile from Ugborough village, in the civil parish of Ugborough, in the South Hams district, in the county of Devon, England. In 2018 it had an estimated population of 855. The village is divided into 2 parts by a railway viaduct.

Fowelscombe is a historic manor in the parish of Ugborough in Devon, England. The large ancient manor house known as Fowelscombe House survives only as an ivy-covered "romantic ruin" overgrown by trees and nettles, situated 1 mile south-east of the village of Ugborough. The ruins are a Grade II listed building. It is believed to be one of three possible houses on which Conan Doyle based his "Baskerville Hall" in his novel The Hound of the Baskervilles, (1901–02) the others being Hayford Hall (also owned by John King (died 1861) of Fowelscombe) and Brook Manor.

Moorhaven Hospital, built as Plymouth Asylum and initially named the Plymouth Borough Asylum, was a mental health facility in Ivybridge, Devon, England.

The Redlake Tramway was a railway built to carry supplies and workers between Bittaford and the clay workings at Redlake, near the centre of the southern part of Dartmoor, Devon, England. It was built in 1911 to a 3 ft (914 mm) narrow gauge, and ran for a circuitous 8.3 miles (13.4 km).

Glazebrook House is a building of historical significance in South Brent, Devon. Part of the house was built in about 1650 and was successively added to until it became the present structure. It was the residence of several notable people until 1972 when it was converted to a hotel. Today it is still a hotel which provides accommodation and restaurant facilities and caters for special events.

Yellowberries Copse is an Iron Age enclosure, or possibly hill fort situated South of South Brent in Devon, England. The fort is situated on the North West slope of Cutwell Hill at approx 155 Metres above Sea Level.

Brownston is a hamlet in Devon, England. It is located within Modbury Parish. Its church (dedicated to St John the Baptist) is now a private home and was built in 1844. There is also a converted Wesleyan chapel. Several of the farmhouses in Brownston are grade II listed. It also has a converted school and forge and was a busier place when the road through Brownston was a main route for people travelling from the South Hams area to Plymouth during the gold rush days. Brownston Cross was renamed California Cross at this time.

Butterdon Hill is on Dartmoor, in southwest England. The remains of a small stone circle and a stone row can be found on the summit. The name Butterdon is believed to derive an Old English word for "pasture".

Modbury is a large village, ecclesiastical parish, civil parish and former manor situated in the South Hams district of the county of Devon in England. Today due to its large size it is generally referred to as a "town" although the parish council has not elected to give itself the status of a town as it could do under s.245(6) of the Local Government Act 1972, so it does not have a town council and cannot have a town mayor. It is also known informally as a "market town", as from at least 1199 the lord of the manor has held the right to hold a regular market. The village is situated on the A379 road, which links it to Plymouth and Kingsbridge. The current parish population is approximately 1,500.

North Huish is a village, civil parish, former ecclesiastical parish and former manor in the South Hams district of Devon, England. The village is situated about 8 miles (13 kilometres) south-west of the town of Totnes. Avonwick is the largest village in the parish, Avonwick was only named that in 1870 and parts were previously part of different parishes until the late 20th century. The parish had a population of 360 in the 2001 census.
