The company was founded by Giulio Cocchi, a pastry chef originally from Tuscany who moved his business to the north-western Italian town of Asti in the late 19th century. The founder was interested in the pairing of food and wines he found in Asti, the capital of Moscato wines, and began producing aromatic-infused wines and sparkling wines. By the turn of the century his Barolo Chinato and Aperitivo Americano had become commercially successful in Piedmont, London, New York, Africa and South America.The company now produces traditional method and metodo Martinotti sparkling wines, Barolo Chinato, vermouth and aperitif wine such as Cocchi Americano. All Cocchi products are wine based and the founder's recipes are still used.Giulio Cocchi Spumanti is listed on the "Registro Nazionale delle Imprese Storiche" (the National List of Historical Companies).

Chivasso railway station serves the town and comune of Chivasso, in the Piedmont region of northwestern Italy. Opened in 1856, it forms part of the Turin–Milan railway, and is also a junction for three other lines, to Aosta, Asti and Alessandria. The station is currently managed by Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI). Train services are operated by Trenitalia. Chivasso has a population of about 27,000. It is situated on the left bank of the Po river, near the influx of the Orco river.The municipality of Chivasso contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Montegiove, Betlemme, Torassi, Castelrosso, Pogliani, Borghetto, Mosche, Mandria, Boschetto, and Pratoregio. Chivasso borders the following municipalities: Mazzè, Caluso, San Benigno Canavese, Montanaro, Rondissone, Verolengo, Volpiano, Brandizzo, San Sebastiano da Po, Castagneto Po, San Raffaele Cimena. The name probably has a Roman origin (Clavasium, which is used nowadays by local companies).

Robella is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Asti in the Italian region Piedmont, located about 30 kilometres (19 mi) east of Turin and about 25 kilometres (16 mi) northwest of Asti. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 545 and an area of 12.2 square kilometres (4.7 sq mi).The municipality of Robella contains the frazione (subdivision) Cortiglione. Robella borders the following municipalities: Brozolo, Cocconato, Montiglio Monferrato, Murisengo, Odalengo Grande, and Verrua Savoia.

The Orco (Piedmontese: Eva d'òr, that is lit. Water of gold; Latin: Orgus) is an Italian river. It originates in the Piedmontese slopes of Gran Paradiso and after about 90 kilometres (56 mi) reaches the Po river near Chivasso, in the Metropolitan City of Turin. Its drainage basin is home to the most important complex of hydropower in Piedmont, consisting of six major dams (Agnel, Serrù, Ceresole Reale, Teleccio, Piantonetto, Valsoera), many smaller reservoirs and numerous turbines and power stations. The Orco is known also for its gold-bearing sand, extracted already in antiquity. Even today there is a certain activity, on an amateur level, searching for grains of gold.
