Roughton, Norfolk

Hagon Beck is a minor watercourse which rises in the north of the English county of Norfolk. It falls into Great Lake in Gunton Park, which in turn feeds Suffield Beck. Suffield Beck is a tributary of Blackwater Beck which in turn joins the River Bure. Its spring is a little north of the North Norfolk village of Roughton. There were two watermills on the beck. The first was located at Gunton, and the second is a sawmill in Suffield Park.

Gunton Park Lake is a 18.3-hectare (45-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest by Gunton Hall, north-west of North Walsham in Norfolk. It was formed by damming Hagon Beck. This artificial lake has the largest flock of post-breeding gadwall in Britain, and more than 500 birds have sometimes been recorded in September. Wintering wildfowl include teal, mallard, shoveler, shelduck and goosander.The site is private land with no public access.

Northrepps Aerodrome is a privately owned airfield south west of the village of Northrepps, North Norfolk, England approximately 3 mi (4.8 km) south-south-east of Cromer. It is located next to the A149 road close to its junction with the A 140.

Gunton Hall, Gunton Park, is a large country house near Suffield in Norfolk.

St Andrew's Church is a redundant Anglican church adjacent to Gunton Hall, in the parish of Hanworth, Norfolk, England. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade I listed building, and is under the care of the Churches Conservation Trust. The church stands in woodland to the east of the hall.

April Fabb (22 April 1955 – disappeared 8 April 1969) was an English schoolgirl who disappeared on 8 April 1969, when aged 13, between the villages of Metton and Roughton in Norfolk, England, United Kingdom.

Metton is a small village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Sustead, in the North Norfolk district, in the county of Norfolk, England. The village is 2.1 km west of Roughton, 5.2 km south of Cromer, 29.3 km north of Norwich and 11.2 km northwest of North Walsham. In 1931 the parish had a population of 86. On 1 April 1935 the parish was abolished and merged with Sustead.The villages name origin is uncertain 'Meadow farm/settlement' or 'mowing farm/settlement', perhaps indicating a place where grass or another crop was mown. It has a church dedicated to St. Andrew and is part of the Diocese of Norwich.April Fabb, a missing schoolgirl, lived in the village and disappeared on a journey from here to Roughton in 1969.

Thorpe Market is a village in the English county of Norfolk. The village is 4.4 miles south of Cromer, and 20.5 miles north of Norwich. The nearest railway station is at Gunton on the Bittern Line which runs between Sheringham, Cromer and Norwich. The nearest airport is Norwich International. The village straddles the A149 road from King’s Lynn to Great Yarmouth. The village's name means 'Outlying farm/settlement with a market'.

The nearest railway station is Gunton on a branch line, the Bittern Line, commencing at Norwich. Norwich International Airport is closer to the city. Roughton Road railway station is on the Bittern Line in Norfolk, England, on the outskirts of the town of Cromer. It takes its name from the street on which it is located, and is several miles north of the village of Roughton. It is 24 miles 1 chain (38.6 km) down the line from Norwich and is situated between Gunton and Cromer stations. It is a modern halt station that was opened by British Rail in 1985. Today it is managed by Greater Anglia, which also operates all passenger trains that call. It is unstaffed and consists of a single platform. The station is approximately half a mile from the site of a closed station called Cromer High, the former terminus of the Great Eastern Railway (GER), and is located on the site of the former junction between the GER and the Norfolk and Suffolk Joint Railway, at the entrance to the disused Cromer Tunnel.

The Cromer Tunnel was built by the Norfolk and Suffolk Joint Railway to take their Cromer Beach to Mundesley line under the Great Eastern's Cromer High to Norwich line. Both portals of the tunnels are open but undergrowth and modern housing in the area make access difficult.It is the only standard gauge railway tunnel in Norfolk (the narrow gauge Bure Valley Railway crosses Aylsham Bypass by means of a newly constructed Aylsham Bypass Tunnel which replaces the former level crossing).
