Kelvinbridge is the common name of the Great Western Bridge, a cast iron road and pedestrian bridge located in the West End of the city of Glasgow, Scotland, built to carry the Great Western Road (A82) at a high level across the River Kelvin. Completed in 1891 by Bell & Miller, it replaced an older stone bridge (completed 1840), and has a similar design to the Partick Bridge crossing the same river, located a short distance to the south-west. It has been a Category A listed structure since 1986.In the early 19th century, the first Great Western Bridge (1825) provided a crossing point across the boundary of the city and into the neighbouring burgh of Hillhead, which was incorporated into the city later. It was at a low level, whereas the second, larger bridge was built over a high span.The river lends its name to adjacent places at several points along its course (Kelvindale, Kelvingrove Park, Kelvinhaugh and Kelvinside for example) and so there are several 'Kelvin Bridges', including one several miles away in Torrance. Adjacent to the bridge is Kelvinbridge subway station on the Glasgow Subway - one of the deepest on the circuit due to the proximity of the river - on the south east-side of the bridge. This was also the location of Kelvinbridge railway station on the Glasgow Central Railway. Due to these other uses, the name Kelvinbridge is also used to refer to the residential areas in the vicinity of the bridge, encompassing parts of the neighbourhoods of Woodside, Woodlands, Kelvinside and Hillhead. The Glasgow Academy private school is nearby on the Hillhead side of the valley, with Lansdowne Church (1863) - featuring a spire which at 66 metres (217 ft) is among the tallest structures in the city - on the opposite bank. Due to the proximity of the University of Glasgow, the Kelvinbridge locality accommodates many students. In 2019, the area was included in a list of the 50 "coolest neighbourhoods in the world" by Time Out magazine.

The Glasgow Academy is a coeducational private day school for pupils aged 3–18 in Glasgow, Scotland. In 2016, it had the third-best Higher level exam results in Scotland. Founded in 1845, it is the oldest continuously fully private school in Glasgow.

Kelvinbridge subway station is a Glasgow Subway station serving the Woodlands, Woodside and Hillhead areas of Glasgow, Scotland. It is named after the bridge crossing the River Kelvin, next to the station. This station is one of the two serving Kelvingrove Park, the other being Kelvinhall. The station – along with the rest of the Subway system – was opened in 1896 and closed for refurbishment in 1977, reopening in 1980. It retains the original island platform layout, and is by far the busiest station to retain this configuration. The station has a car park, built on the site of the goods yard at Kelvinbridge on the Stobcross to Maryhill Central line. The station is the deepest station in the network due to its close proximity to the River Kelvin, and was originally entered through a tenement block on South Woodside Road with access to Great Western Road via an external cast iron staircase descending from the eponymous bridge. Following modernisation, a purpose-built surface-level ticket hall has offered direct access to the new main entrance on Great Western Road via a glass-enclosed escalator. The former station entrance is now the emergency exit from today's station, the emergency exit being marked by red doors at the bottom of the iron staircase, and "keep clear" signs.

Kelvinbridge was a railway station for the Kelvinbridge area in the West End of Glasgow, close to Kelvinbridge subway station on the Glasgow Subway.

St Silas Church is an evangelical Anglican church in the Woodlands area of Glasgow, Scotland, adjacent to Kelvingrove Park and the University of Glasgow. The congregation was founded in 1864 and holds to the theology of the Thirty-nine Articles in the 1662 Book of Common Prayer. The church is a category B listed building

On 28 May 2021, Scottish pensioner Esther Brown was raped and murdered at her flat in Woodlands, Glasgow.Jason Graham (also known as Jason Evans), a registered sex offender, who was unknown to her, was found guilty of her rape and murder on 12 November 2021, and sentenced to 19 years in jail.

Woodlands is an area of Glasgow, Scotland. Situated on the north-west edge of the city centre, Woodlands is located within Glasgow's fashionable West End, east of Hillhead, south of Woodside, north of the Park District and Kelvingrove Park, and west of Charing Cross and Garnethill. Woodlands has a substantial population of residents of Pakistani and Indian heritage, as well as a large number of students. The area is in the vicinity of the University of Glasgow and Glasgow School of Art. The housing stock mostly consists of 19th century terraces, townhouses, and blonde and red sandstone tenement housing, with modern redevelopment which is also predominantly in the tenement style.

Kelvinbridge Parish Church, also known as the Kelvin Stevenson Memorial Church, is a Church of Scotland parish church, serving part of the North Kelvinside area of Glasgow, Scotland. The church is within the Church of Scotland's Presbytery of Glasgow.

The Cathedral Church of St Mary the Virgin (Scottish Gaelic: Cathair-eaglais Naomh Moire), commonly called St Mary's Cathedral, is a cathedral of the Scottish Episcopal Church. It is located on the Great Western Road, in the west end of Glasgow, Scotland. The current building was opened on 9 November 1871 as St Mary's Episcopal Church and was completed in 1893 when the spire was completed. The architect was Sir Gilbert Scott. It was raised to cathedral status in 1908. The total height of the cathedral is 63 metres. The church structure is protected as a category A listed building.The other cathedrals in Glasgow are St Andrew's (Roman Catholic), St Luke's (Eastern Orthodox) and St Mungo's, the city's mediaeval cathedral, now used by the Church of Scotland, which has a presbyterian polity and does not use the term ‘cathedral’ to describe its churches.

Burnbank Park was a sports ground in Glasgow, Scotland. It was situated in the city's Woodlands area, found at Barrington Drive (between Great Western Road and Woodlands Road). No trace of the ground remains, having been built on by sandstone tenement housing in the late 19th century, which survives into the 21st century. The name endures locally with the Burnbank Bowling Club a few blocks to the south, founded in 1866, around the same time the sports grounds were coming into use for team sports.

Tchai-Ovna is a speciality tea-house and music venue situated in the West End of Glasgow. They are known to serve "alternative" teas. They also serve vegetarian and vegan food and allow the rental of Hookah pipes. Tchai-Ovna also provides a place for music, poetry readings and dramatic performances and an arts exhibition space for local artists. It also hosts musical events on most week days, with performances from songwriters, jazz musicians and local and world music artists.Tchai-Ovna's name is inspired by the teahouses (čajovny) in the Czech Republic. The Glasgow venues are popular, particularly with students, the elderly and members from local bands Belle and Sebastian's 2003 album art for Dear Catastrophe Waitress was shot in Tchai-Ovna's West End venue. Tchai-Ovna may be forced to close by a proposed new development of luxury flats on Otago Lane. A community campaign to save Otago Lane is attempting to defend it.

Woodside is a district in the Scottish city of Glasgow and also forms some of the most southern part of the much larger district of Maryhill. It is situated north of the River Clyde, between the River Kelvin and the Forth and Clyde Canal. Woodside has the first and grandest of Glasgow's Carnegie libraries, which were all designed in the Edwardian Baroque style by James Robert Rhind. Joseph Connery, the father of Sean Connery, was born in the district in 1902. Public transport links include Kelvinbridge and St George's Cross Subway stations. Woodside is also home to many small to medium-sized businesses, including Breast Cancer Care and Abbey Business Centres. The Stockline Plastics factory explosion happened in Woodside on 11 May 2004. Nine people were killed, including two company directors, and 33 injured, 15 seriously. The four-storey building was largely destroyed.
