Camphill Queen's Park Baptist Church

Queen's Park Govanhill Parish Church is a 19th-century Parish church of the Church of Scotland located in the south side of Glasgow, near Queen's Park, from which the church's name derives.

Langside Synagogue is a synagogue near Govanhill in Glasgow. It opened in May 1927 and closed in 2014.

Strathbungo is a mainly residential area of southern Glasgow, Scotland, bordered by the neighbourhoods of Crossmyloof to the south, Govanhill to the east and Pollokshields to the north and west. Category Is Books is an independent bookshop in Glasgow, Scotland. It is the only LGBT+ bookshop in Scotland and one of only seven in the United Kingdom. It was established by Charlotte and Fionn Duffy-Scott in September 2018.Every book stocked at the store is either written by someone from the LGBT+ community, contains at least one LGBT+ character or has an LGBT+ narrative.

The Battle of Langside was fought on 13 May 1568 between forces loyal to Mary, Queen of Scots, and forces acting in the name of her infant son James VI. Mary’s short period of personal rule ended in 1567 in recrimination, intrigue, and disaster when, after her capture at Carberry Hill, she was forced to abdicate in favour of James VI. Mary was imprisoned in Loch Leven Castle, while her Protestant half-brother, James Stewart, Earl of Moray, was appointed Regent on behalf of his nephew. In early May 1568 Mary escaped, heading west to the country of the Hamiltons, high among her remaining supporters, and the safety of Dumbarton Castle with the determination to restore her rights as queen. Mary was defeated and went into exile and captivity in England. The battle is generally considered the start of the Marian civil war.
