La Grange Village Historic District

Emmanuel Episcopal Church is a historic Episcopal church at 203 S. Kensington Avenue in La Grange, Illinois. La Grange's Episcopal congregation formed in 1872 and built its first church in 1878. The current church building was built in 1925–26 to replace the original church after it burned down in 1924. Architect John Neal Tilton, Jr., who was also a member of the congregation, gave the new church a Gothic Revival design inspired by cathedral architecture; the design bucked the contemporary tradition of giving suburban churches simple designs. The church's design includes an ashlar limestone exterior, lancet windows with stone surrounds, a parapet with a cross above the entrance, and a large entrance gable flanked by buttresses. The church's stained glass windows, which were installed over the course of a multi-decade program, were designed by multiple artists and feature scenes of everyday American life.The church was added to the National Register of Historic Places on December 28, 2017.

The village of La Grange ( lə GRAYNJ; often spelled LaGrange), a suburb of Chicago, is a village in Cook County, in the U.S. state of Illinois. The population was 16,321 at the 2020 census.

The La Grange Village Hall, also known as the Lyons Township Hall, is a historic building at 53 S. LaGrange Road in La Grange, Illinois. Built in 1900, the building houses the offices of the village of La Grange and Lyons Township. It historically also hosted most of La Grange's community events and is home to an American Legion post. The architecture firm Stiles & Stephens of Chicago designed the building in the Georgian Revival style, which was one of the classically inspired styles popular for large public buildings at the time. The building's design includes an arched stone entrance flanked by Ionic columns and topped by a balustrade, brick quoins, a bracketed and dentillated cornice, and pedimented dormers on each side of the roof.The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 30, 1978.

La Grange Road station, or La Grange station, is a train station in La Grange, Illinois served by Amtrak, the national railroad passenger system, and Metra—along the BNSF commuter line. It is one of two stations in the suburb of La Grange, another station named La Grange – Stone Avenue is .4 miles (0.64 km) away. La Grange is 13.7 miles (22.0 km) from Chicago's Union Station, at 25 West Burlington Avenue between Ashland Avenue and La Grange Road (U.S. 12-20-45). Parking is available along West Hillgrove and West Burlington Avenues. As of 2018, La Grange Road is the 23rd busiest of Metra's 236 non-downtown stations, with an average of 1,452 weekday boardings.

Stone Avenue (also known as La Grange-Stone Avenue) is a station on Metra's BNSF Line in La Grange, Illinois. The station is 14.1 miles (22.7 km) from Union Station, the east end of the line. In Metra's zone-based fare system, Stone Avenue is in zone C. As of 2018, Stone Avenue is the 55th busiest of Metra's 236 non-downtown stations, with an average of 946 weekday boardings. A staffed station building is on the south side of the three tracks. Like the other La Grange Metra station (La Grange Road), La Grange-Stone Avenue is between West Burlington and West Hillgrove Avenues. Stone Avenue, the road for which the station is named, is actually a minor street which terminates at West Burlington Avenue in front of the station, only to begin again at a dead end street south of Bell Avenue. The closest major street to the station is Brainard Avenue. The station is within walking distance of the North Campus of Lyons Township High School. It is .4 miles (0.64 km) from the main La Grange station.The station was built in 1901 by the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad according to a Richardsonian Romanesque design by the company's general architect, Walter Theodore Krausch.

WLTL Radio ("WLTL-FM"), and formerly known as "Rock88" is a nonprofit high school educational radio station located in LaGrange, Illinois, and run out of Lyons Township High School. WLTL has won several national and local awards.

The George E. Purple House is a historic home located at 338 Sunset Ave. in LaGrange, Illinois, United States. The Italian Renaissance Revival style house was designed by William G. Carnegie and built in 1928. The house includes several characteristic features of Italian Renaissance Revival architecture, including a green tile hipped roof, large first-floor windows, overhanging eaves, decorative brackets, and extensive decorations; these decorations include bas-relief urns above the first floor windows and brick quoins on the corners. George E. Purple, founder of the Flexible Steel Lacing Company, commissioned the house; while Purple died in 1930, his family inhabited the house until 1944.The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places on August 12, 2005.

The 1974 U.S. Women's Open was the 29th U.S. Women's Open, held July 18–21 at La Grange Country Club in La Grange, Illinois, a suburb west of Chicago. After a double bogey, Sandra Haynie sank birdie putts from 70 and 15 feet (21 and 5 m) on the final two holes to win by a stroke over runners-up Carol Mann and Beth Stone. Haynie had won the previous major, the LPGA Championship, a month earlier.

The 1981 U.S. Women's Open was the 36th U.S. Women's Open, held July 23–26 at La Grange Country Club in LaGrange, Illinois, a suburb west of Chicago. Three strokes back after 54 holes, Pat Bradley shot a final round 66 (−6) to win her only U.S. Women's Open, one stroke ahead of runner-up Beth Daniel. It was the second of Bradley's six major titles. Kathy Whitworth had her best chance to win the U.S. Women's Open, the only major championship to elude her. She co-led after 18 and 36 holes, and led by a stroke over Bonnie Lauer after the third round. Both faded on Sunday as Whitworth carded a 74 (+2) to finish five strokes back in solo third. With that, she became the first to exceed one million dollars in career earnings on the LPGA Tour.The course hosted the championship seven years earlier in 1974.

La Grange Country Club is a private golf club in La Grange, Illinois, a suburb southwest of Chicago. Founded 123 years ago in 1899 and designed by Herbert J. Tweedie as a nine-hole golf course, the club relocated to its present location in 1913 and was expanded to 18 holes. It hosted the U.S. Women's Open, an LGPA major championship, in 1974 and 1981, and underwent a major renovation in 2001.

La Grange Highlands is an unincorporated community south of La Grange in Cook County, Illinois, United States. Located near I-294 and I-55, the town is bordered by Countryside, Indian Head Park, La Grange, and Western Springs. It primarily contains residential properties, with very few businesses within its boundaries. Despite being unincorporated it contains a fire department that serves itself and neighboring communities. LaGrange Highlands School District 106 serves students K-12, and Lyons Township High School is the public high school.
