La Grange Road station

The La Grange Village Hall, also known as the Lyons Township Hall, is a historic building at 53 S. LaGrange Road in La Grange, Illinois. Built in 1900, the building houses the offices of the village of La Grange and Lyons Township. It historically also hosted most of La Grange's community events and is home to an American Legion post. The architecture firm Stiles & Stephens of Chicago designed the building in the Georgian Revival style, which was one of the classically inspired styles popular for large public buildings at the time. The building's design includes an arched stone entrance flanked by Ionic columns and topped by a balustrade, brick quoins, a bracketed and dentillated cornice, and pedimented dormers on each side of the roof.The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 30, 1978.

The La Grange Village Historic District is a national historic district encompassing a large section of the village of La Grange, Illinois. The district includes over 1000 buildings, most of which are residences. Development in the district began in the 1870s after the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad began serving two stations in La Grange; nearly all of the buildings within the present-day district were built between then and 1930. Several popular architectural styles of the period are represented in the district, including large collections of Prairie School, Queen Anne, and Victorian houses. The district includes three designs by Frank Lloyd Wright as well as works by John S. Van Bergen, Enock Hill Turnock, and J. C. Llewelyn.The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places on August 8, 1979.

Emmanuel Episcopal Church is a historic Episcopal church at 203 S. Kensington Avenue in La Grange, Illinois. La Grange's Episcopal congregation formed in 1872 and built its first church in 1878. The current church building was built in 1925–26 to replace the original church after it burned down in 1924. Architect John Neal Tilton, Jr., who was also a member of the congregation, gave the new church a Gothic Revival design inspired by cathedral architecture; the design bucked the contemporary tradition of giving suburban churches simple designs. The church's design includes an ashlar limestone exterior, lancet windows with stone surrounds, a parapet with a cross above the entrance, and a large entrance gable flanked by buttresses. The church's stained glass windows, which were installed over the course of a multi-decade program, were designed by multiple artists and feature scenes of everyday American life.The church was added to the National Register of Historic Places on December 28, 2017.

Stone Avenue (also known as La Grange-Stone Avenue) is a station on Metra's BNSF Line in La Grange, Illinois. The station is 14.1 miles (22.7 km) from Union Station, the east end of the line. In Metra's zone-based fare system, Stone Avenue is in zone C. As of 2018, Stone Avenue is the 55th busiest of Metra's 236 non-downtown stations, with an average of 946 weekday boardings. A staffed station building is on the south side of the three tracks. Like the other La Grange Metra station (La Grange Road), La Grange-Stone Avenue is between West Burlington and West Hillgrove Avenues. Stone Avenue, the road for which the station is named, is actually a minor street which terminates at West Burlington Avenue in front of the station, only to begin again at a dead end street south of Bell Avenue. The closest major street to the station is Brainard Avenue. The station is within walking distance of the North Campus of Lyons Township High School. It is .4 miles (0.64 km) from the main La Grange station.The station was built in 1901 by the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad according to a Richardsonian Romanesque design by the company's general architect, Walter Theodore Krausch.

The George E. Purple House is a historic home located at 338 Sunset Ave. in LaGrange, Illinois, United States. The Italian Renaissance Revival style house was designed by William G. Carnegie and built in 1928. The house includes several characteristic features of Italian Renaissance Revival architecture, including a green tile hipped roof, large first-floor windows, overhanging eaves, decorative brackets, and extensive decorations; these decorations include bas-relief urns above the first floor windows and brick quoins on the corners. George E. Purple, founder of the Flexible Steel Lacing Company, commissioned the house; while Purple died in 1930, his family inhabited the house until 1944.The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places on August 12, 2005.

The 1974 U.S. Women's Open was the 29th U.S. Women's Open, held July 18–21 at La Grange Country Club in La Grange, Illinois, a suburb west of Chicago. After a double bogey, Sandra Haynie sank birdie putts from 70 and 15 feet (21 and 5 m) on the final two holes to win by a stroke over runners-up Carol Mann and Beth Stone. Haynie had won the previous major, the LPGA Championship, a month earlier.
