Peterborough Guildhall

The City of Peterborough is a unitary authority district with city status in the ceremonial county of Cambridgeshire, England. The area is named after its largest settlement, Peterborough but also covers a wider area of outlying villages and hamlets. Historically the area was split into parts between the counties of Northamptonshire, Isle of Ely and Huntingdonshire until 1974 when it became part of the short-lived county of Huntingdon and Peterborough before becoming part of the ceremonial county of Cambridgeshire. Located in the East Anglia region of England, the area borders the surrounding counties of Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire. The population of the district was 202,259 making it the second-largest district by population in East Anglia (After Norwich).The district was also part of the Soke of Peterborough and was a Saxon settlement during the Anglo-Saxon era. The district also includes outlying villages such as Thorney, Old Fletton, Werrington, Parnwell, Dogsthorpe, Eye Green, Glinton, Northborough, Maxey, Wittering, Wansford and Ailsworth. The district also forms part of a built up area around the neighbouring settlements of Yaxley, Whittlesey, Alwalton, Crowland and Market Deeping.

The Queensgate shopping centre is located in the centre of the UK city of Peterborough, in Cambridgeshire. It contains over 100 stores and parking for 2,300 cars in four onsite multi-storey car parks. Queensgate bus station is located within the shopping centre and only a short walk from Peterborough railway station. Peterborough Shop Mobility provide wheelchairs and electric scooters to help those with limited mobility. The centre was opened by Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands on 9 March 1982.

The Bull Hotel is a 17th-century AA 4-star hotel in the Westgate neighbourhood of Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, opposite the Queensgate shopping centre. The Bull Hotel, a Grade II listed building, is the premier hotel in Peterborough, and is the only AA recognised 4 star hotel in the city centre. It has served as a notable conference location for middle England, with a capacity of 250. The hotel has 118 rooms and is served by The Brasserie and the Pastroudis Bar and Cafe.

Peterborough was a rural district adjoining the city and municipal borough of Peterborough, England, from 1894 to 1974. The council offices were at 51 Priestgate, in the city of Peterborough. The rural district was created under the Local Government Act 1894, from the part of the Peterborough rural sanitary district that was in the administrative county of Soke of Peterborough (the rest, in Huntingdonshire, formed the Norman Cross Rural District). In 1929 the city's boundaries were extended, with six of the rural district's parishes being absorbed. Local government reorganisation abolished the Soke in 1965 and the rural district was transferred to the new administrative county of Huntingdon and Peterborough. The rural district was abolished under the Local Government Act 1972, becoming part of the Peterborough district of the new non-metropolitan county of Cambridgeshire.

Boroughby (archaically, the Manor of Boroughby and sometimes Boroughbury) is an area lying adjacent to Peterborough city centre, immediately to the north of Westgate, in the Peterborough district, in the ceremonial county of Cambridgeshire, England. Manor House, a "building of local importance", maintains the name of Boroughbury Manor House which was demolished in 1921. The former administrative headquarters of the Peterborough Building Society, it later served as headquarters of Nene Housing Society until 2017 and has since been converted into affordable housing for local people in need. A surviving remnant of the boundary wall of part of the curtilage can be found at the south east corner of the Manor House grounds.Monk's Tithe Barn was built at Boroughby in 1307. In 1892, the mediaeval barn was destroyed "for the sake of its materials and for the ground on which it stood."The former Masonic Hall was constructed in 1864, possibly using materials (the limestone rubble at least) from the Boroughbury Maltings, which earlier occupied the site.The North Westgate development is a £100 million regeneration project to deliver a new urban quarter, with a mix of offices, retail and housing in the vicinity.

The church of St Peter and All Souls is a Roman Catholic church in Peterborough, on Park Road, north of the city centre. It has been part of the Diocese of East Anglia since 1976, having fallen under the Diocese of Northampton from its building in 1896 until then. St Olga Ukrainian Catholic Church is a Ukrainian Catholic mission that is part of the church. The church and presbytery, built by Leonard Stokes in 1896, are decorated in the Gothic style. Both the church and the presbytery are Grade II listed buildings. The church is built of stone with a stone tile roof.
