Northern High School (also known as Northern Durham) is a public secondary school located in northern Durham, North Carolina. Northern's current principal is Danny Gilfort. 1536 students were enrolled at Northern for the 2017–2018 school year. Northern is one of Durham's seven public high schools. Students take four classes each day as a block schedule is currently in place. Northern's mascot for their male teams is the Knights and for the female teams, it is the Ladies. Northern High School offers Advanced Placement classes in English, American History, European History, Psychology, Statistics, Calculus AB and BC, Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science, Spanish, French, Latin, German, Studio Art, Music Theory (Independent Study), and US Government & Politics. Northern High School employs over 150 staff members including four assistant principals. 36.8% of Northern students earned a 17 or above on the ACT during the 2016–2017 school year.In 2007, Northern High School was ranked as the 928th best high school in America by Newsweek. The school continues to rank in the top five percent of public high schools nationwide. Northern High School is currently recognized as a School of Progress, with over 60 percent of students at or above achievement standards.

Little River High School is a historic school located on Route 501 southwest of Bahama in Durham County, North Carolina .Built in 1939, it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

George Poland House is a historic home located near Bahama, Durham County, North Carolina. It was designed by architect George Matsumoto and built in 1956 in the International Style. It was originally located at 3929 Arrow Drive in Raleigh, North Carolina and moved to its present location in 2001. It is a rectangular, one-story, flat-roofed dwelling on a full basement. The house features cantilevered floor and ceiling beams, a front entry platform, a full-facade covered rear porch, and an open elevated wraparound walkway.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.

The Little River Reservoir is located in Durham, North Carolina, United States, and is one of the main sources of drinking water for the town. The reservoir was created by a dam completed in 1988. It hosts a city park that offers fishing facilities including boat, canoe, and kayak rentals, along with picnic tables and restrooms. Private boats are not permitted on the reservoir. Current and historic reservoir water levels can be found below.In cooperation with Raleigh, Wake Forest, Wendell, and Zebulon in North Carolina, Wake County NC is also planning a reservoir on the Little River. The project has been postponed for environmental study.

Geographically, Lebanon Township occupies 29.88 square miles (77.4 km2) in northwestern Durham County. The township is occupied by small portions of the city of Durham. Popular roads in Lebanon include Russell and Guess. 3 country clubs are located in Lebanon.

Russell School, also known as Cain's School, is a historic Rosenwald school located near Durham, Durham County, North Carolina. It was built in 1926–1927, and is a one-story, front-gabled weatherboarded building. It features a center projecting wing containing the original industrial room, flanking recessed entrances, and two large classrooms. Construction of the school was made possible due to the notable efforts of Durham Jeanes supervisor Carrie Thomas Jordan. The school closed in 1945 and has been owned by Cain's Chapel Baptist Church and used as a community center.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.

West Point Mill is a reproduction of the historic gristmill on the Eno River in north Durham, North Carolina. The mill and other historic structures are preserved in the West Point on the Eno city park. The mill operates as part of a free tour on weekends, with mill-ground meal and flour available for purchase.

Mangum Township is one of six townships in Durham County, North Carolina, United States. The township had a population of 5,821 according to the 2000 census. Geographically, Mangum Township occupies 71.57 square miles (185.4 km2) in northern Durham County. The township contains small portions of the city of Durham, as well as the unincorporated communities of Bahama and Rougemont. It includes a portion of the Federal Bureau of Prisons Federal Correctional Complex, Butner.

Kinchen Holloway House, also known as Guess Mill House, is a historic home located at Durham, Durham County, North Carolina. It was built about 1870, and is a two-story, three-bay, frame I-house with a one-story, gable-roof rear ell. It was built by Kinchen Holloway, a farmer and miller.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008.
