Calga, New South Wales

The City of Gosford is a former local government area located on the Central Coast region, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. The incorporation of Gosford dates back to 1886 when the Town of Gosford was proclaimed as the Borough of Gosford, becoming the Municipality of Gosford from 1906. In 1908, the Gosford Municipality merged into Erina Shire which covered the remaining Central Coast area outside of Gosford, but regained its independence in 1936. From 1 January 1947, local government in the Central Coast region was reorganised, creating Gosford Shire and Wyong Shire, and the final boundaries of Gosford City Council date from this period. From 1 January 1980, Gosford Shire was granted city status, becoming the City of Gosford. On 12 May 2016 the Minister for Local Government amalgamated the City of Gosford and Wyong Shire Councils. The Central Coast Council was established on the same day, covering the combined areas.Until its merger with the Wyong Shire in 2016, The City of Gosford covered an area of 940 square kilometres (360 sq mi). Its administrative seat was located in Gosford, approximately 76 kilometres (47 mi) north of Sydney and approximately 90 kilometres (56 mi) south of Newcastle. The City was bounded to the east by the Tasman Sea, to the south by Broken Bay and the Hawkesbury River, to the west by the Great North Road where it encircled the Dharug National Park taking in the catchment area of the Mangrove Creek Dam, before heading south–east towards the coast, north of Forresters Beach. The last Mayor of the Gosford City Council was Cr. Lawrie McKinna, an independent politician.

Australia Walkabout Wildlife Park is a wildlife sanctuary located in Calga, New South Wales, Australia. The wildlife park is home to Australian native birds, mammals and reptiles as well as farm animals. It offers research and education programs, with visitors able to undertake day and night tours. The park is home to a wide range of Australian animals and in 2021 became home to a group of meerkats, the park's first exotic animals.

Calga Aboriginal Cultural Landscape is a heritage-listed site at Peats Ridge Road, Calga, Central Coast Council, New South Wales, Australia. It is also known as Calga Aboriginal Women's Site and Calga Aboriginal Sites. It was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 1 October 2019.

Mooney Mooney Creek is a suburb of the Central Coast region of New South Wales, Australia, located 60 kilometres (37 mi) north of Sydney along both sides of the river after which it is named. It is part of the Central Coast Council local government area.Almost all of the suburb's land area is part of the Brisbane Water National Park, and the Pacific Motorway and Pacific Highway pass through the west and north of the suburb.

The Mooney Mooney Bridge, officially the Mooney Mooney Creek Bridge, and popularly known as The NSW Big Dipper Bridge, is a twin cantilever bridge that carries the Pacific Motorway (M1) across Mooney Mooney Creek, located near Mooney Mooney in the Brisbane Water National Park on the Central Coast of New South Wales, Australia. The concrete box girder bridge was opened on 14 December 1986 by the Prime Minister of Australia, Bob Hawke, and is owned and maintained by Transport for NSW, an agency of the Government of New South Wales. The Pacific Motorway is the main road link between Sydney, the Central Coast and the Hunter Region. The only other road that links all three regions is the Pacific Highway (B83) which from Cowan to Kariong follows a scenic winding route.

The Brisbane Water National Park is a protected national park that is located in the Central Coast region of New South Wales, in eastern Australia. The 11,506-hectare (28,430-acre) national park is situated 47 kilometres (29 mi) north of Sydney, 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) west of Woy Woy, and 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) southwest of Gosford.

Wondabyne is a suburb located in the Central Coast region of New South Wales, Australia, and is part of the Central Coast Council local government area. The river that surrounds Wondabyne is called "Mullet Creek". Wondabyne Railway Station does not have road access, making the train station the only one in Australia to not have road access.The station and shacks and houses on Mullet Creek starred in the film "The Oyster Farmer".

Old Sydney Town was an Australian open-air museum and theme park which operated from 1975 until 2003 in Somersby on the New South Wales Central Coast. Once a living tribute to the early years of Sydney's colonial settlement in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, the site is now used as a location for film and television production.

The Australian Reptile Park is located at Somersby on the Central Coast, New South Wales in Australia. It is about 50 kilometres (31 mi) north of Sydney, and is just off the M1 Pacific Motorway. The Park has one of the largest reptile collections in Australia, with close to 50 species on display. The wide variety of reptile species at the Park includes snakes, lizards (such as Komodo dragons), turtles, tortoises, tuataras, American alligators and crocodiles. In addition, the Park features Australian mammals such as kangaroos, wallabies, koalas, platypuses, Tasmanian devils, bare-nosed wombat, quokkas, echidnas, and dingoes. Australian birds featured include cassowaries. The park is heavily involved in snake and spider venom collection for use in the production of antivenom and is credited for saving the lives of thousands. It is an institutional member of the Zoo and Aquarium Association.

Pindar Cave is a geological formation which appears as a massive concave of overhanging sandstone rock. It is located west of Woy Woy which is north of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia in Brisbane Water National Park. Although it is named as a cave, the whole formation is an overhang. It is large enough for sixty walkers to camp overnight under its shelter away from wet weather.

The Holt-Bragg Bridge is an arch road bridge that carries the Old Pacific Highway (B83) across Piles Creek at Somersby on the Central Coast of New South Wales, Australia. It was opened on 30 June 2009 as a replacement for the previous bridge that collapsed two years earlier during severe weather. The bridge is named in honour of the five people who perished when the bridge collapsed.The Pacific Highway is the main road link from Sydney to Brisbane and travels alongside the coast. The section from Cowan to Kariong, where the Holt-Bragg Bridge is, follows a scenic winding route, however, with the majority of traffic using the Pacific Motorway. The original bridge was built around 1986, during the construction of the Calga to Somersby section of the Pacific Motorway. It was a concrete culvert bridge.

Wondabyne railway station is located on the Main Northern line in New South Wales, Australia. It serves the southern Central Coast area known as Wondabyne and opened on 1 May 1889. It is the only station in Australia that does not have road access.Wondabyne has a quarry that is used intermittently and several houses which can only be accessed by boat from a jetty next to the station. As Wondabyne is a request stop, not all trains stop there. Wondabyne Station is mainly used by bushwalkers on the Great North Walk and the homeowners who live on the other side of Mullet Creek which is a tributary of the Hawkesbury River.
