Charles E. Wheeler Wildlife Management Area

Duck Island is the one of two islands in the Charles E. Wheeler Wildlife Management Area at the mouth of the Housatonic River. It is approximately 100 feet (30 m) from the end of Milford Point Road, near the Connecticut Audubon Society Coastal Center at Milford Point. The island is uninhabited and is designated as a Department of Environmental Protection Natural Area Preserve, though people may visit the island outside of bird nesting season. The maximum elevation on the island is ~16 feet (4.9 m).The island is within the boundaries of the City of Milford, Connecticut and is owned and managed by State of Connecticut.

Nells Island is the larger of two islands in the Charles E. Wheeler Wildlife Management Area at the mouth of the Housatonic River. It is directly across the river from the American Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford, Connecticut. The island is uninhabited but is designated as a "miscellaneous open space" by the City of Milford. The Connecticut Audubon Society Coastal Center at Milford Point is a nature center and bird sanctuary in Milford, Connecticut, established in 1995. Over 300 different species of bird have been observed at this location. The Coastal Center is located on an 8.4-acre (34,000 m2) barrier beach—the Smith-Hubbell Wildlife Refuge & Bird Sanctuary—and is situated next to the 840-acre (3.4 km2) Charles E. Wheeler Wildlife Management Area at the mouth of the Housatonic River. The Coastal Center provides easy access to Long Island Sound and its many habitats: tidal salt marshes, barrier beaches, tide pools and coastal dunes, and utilizes these habitats for environmental education for youth and adults. These various environments and habitats support a variety of bird, plant and animal communities for observation and study. The Coastal Center also contains educational exhibits and live animals. The Coastal Center aims to promote awareness of Long Island Sound's ecosystem, the birds and habitats it supports and to foster their preservation, in keeping with the mission of the Connecticut Audubon Society.The center is one of five nature centers and 19 wildlife sanctuaries operated by Connecticut Audubon Society, which is not part of the National Audubon Society.

The Milford Point Hotel is a former hotel building at 1 Milford Point Road in Milford, Connecticut. Built in 1847, it is one of the oldest surviving seaside coastal hotel buildings in the state. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988. It now serves as the visitors center for the Connecticut Audubon Society Coastal Center at Milford Point.

The Housatonic River ( HOOS-ə-TON-ik) is a river, approximately 149 miles (240 km) long, in western Massachusetts and western Connecticut in the United States. It flows south to southeast, and drains about 1,950 square miles (5,100 km2) of southwestern Connecticut into Long Island Sound. Its watershed is just to the west of the watershed of the lower Connecticut River.

The Laurel Beach Casino is a historic meeting and entertainment facility at 102 6th Avenue in Milford, Connecticut. Built in 1929, it is the last surviving building of its type in the city, whose coastal villages once featured seven of them. The building is a Colonial Revival structure, featuring a wraparound porch, auditorium with stage, and a bowling alley. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2018.

Goose Island is an island owned by Stratford, Connecticut below I-95 in the Housatonic River. The island is currently a set of three islets due to erosion running north–south near the Stratford bank of the river. The island is south-southwest of the Washington Bridge, roughly parallel to Housatonic Avenue.

The Connecticut Air & Space Center is an aviation museum located near Igor I. Sikorsky Memorial Airport in Stratford, Connecticut that is focused on the history of aviation in Connecticut. Founded by George Gunther in 1998 after the closing of the Stratford Army Engine Plant, it currently occupies buildings 6 and 53 of the complex.

The Stratford Army Engine Plant (SAEP) was a U.S. Army Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command installation and manufacturing facility located in Stratford, Connecticut, where it was sited along the Housatonic River and Main Street, opposite Sikorsky Memorial Airport.

The Nathaniel Curtis House is a Georgian style house at 600 Housatonic Avenue in Stratford, Connecticut. Built about 1735, it is one of the town's few surviving 18th-century buildings. It was moved, by water, on a barge, in 1973, to its present location on the bank of the Housatonic River to rescue it from demolition. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

The Washington Bridge, also known as the Devon Bridge, carries U.S. Route 1 (US 1) over the Housatonic River in the U.S. state of Connecticut, connecting the city of Milford to the town of Stratford. Its geographic location is N 41.20037 by W −73.11039. It is considered architecturally notable by the National Register of Historic Places for its five 100-foot-long (30 m) arches. It is designated Bridge No. 327 by the state Department of Transportation.The Washington Bridge is the longest drawbridge on the Boston Post Road. It is a steel trunnion-bearing bascule drawbridge. 859 feet (262 m) in length by 43 feet (13 m) in width, featuring two lanes in each direction for automotive traffic and a sidewalk for pedestrians. The clear channel for shipping is 125 feet (38 m) wide. The bridge, which cost $1.5 million in 1921, was the largest and most expensive project of the state highway department up to the date of its construction.
