The Galleria Dallas is a shopping mall and mixed-use development located at the intersection of Interstate 635 and the Dallas North Tollway in the North Dallas neighborhood of Dallas, Texas, United States. It was originally developed by Hines Interests Limited Partnership in 1982. The mall was modeled after a similar Hines development, the Houston Galleria, which opened in 1970. Both malls have ice rinks and a glass vaulted ceiling that is modeled after the historic Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II in Milan, Italy. The mall features Banana Republic, The Western Galleria, Macy's, Pottery Barn, Nordstrom, American Girl, Gap, and Old Navy among its tenants. The cost of constructing Galleria Dallas was at least $400 million ($1.16 billion, adjusted) when opened in 1982, ranking it as one of the most expensive construction projects for 1982, following Walt Disney Epcot Center.There are over 200 stores and restaurants, including an ice rink and the Westin Galleria Hotel. The property is owned by an investment consortium advised by UBS Realty Investors LLC, a subsidiary of UBS AG of Zurich, Switzerland, and is managed by Trademark Property Co.

Valley View Center was a shopping mall located at Interstate 635 and Preston Road in north Dallas, Texas, U.S. It is owned and managed by Dallas-based Beck Ventures. The anchor stores that were once JCPenney, Macy's, Sears, and Dillard's are all vacant. Originally developed in 1973, the mall flourished and expanded during the 1980s, but began to encounter financial difficulties by the 1990s. Bloomingdale's closed its location in 1990, which triggered a court battle with the mall's then-owner, LaSalle Street Fund, when Montgomery Ward attempted to acquire the anchor space once occupied by Bloomingdale's, which resulted in the space remaining empty until JCPenney opened there in 1996. The site of the mall's original movie theater closed in 1991, stayed empty for over a decade, and was eventually renovated and replaced with studio spaces for radio stations KBFB and KZMJ. A new, larger AMC movie theater later opened in 2004. The addition of this new theater slowed, but did not halt, the mall's falling fortunes. Macy's (who acquired the department store Foley's in 2006) closed in March 2008; Dillard's closed their location in December 2008; and, JCPenney later closed its location in April 2013. All three respective anchor spaces remained vacant despite differing proposed plans for renovation.

Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas (commonly referred to as Jesuit Dallas or Dallas Jesuit, and formerly known as Jesuit High School) is a private, college-preparatory school for young men under the direction of the Society of Jesus and home to the Jesuit Dallas Museum in Dallas, Texas. While Jesuit operates independently of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Dallas, it exists and serves the Catholic community with the leave of the bishop.

The National Center for Policy Analysis (NCPA) was a non-profit American think tank whose goals were to develop and promote private alternatives to government regulation and control. Topics it addressed include reforms in health care, taxes, Social Security, welfare, education, and environmental regulation. The NCPA was founded in February 1983 and ceased operation in mid-2017, announcing it had faced three years of serious financial trouble. Melshire Estates is a neighborhood in north Dallas, Texas (USA). It is generally bounded by Charlestown Drive (and the houses to the north facing it) on the north, Preston Road ( SH 289) on the east, Forest Lane on the south, and the Dallas North Tollway on the west. Small areas adjacent to Forest Lane, a shopping center on the northwestern corner of Preston Road and Forest Lane, and townhomes along Lindenshire Lane and Brookstone Drive are not considered part of the neighborhood.

Alpha was an unincorporated freedmen's town in Dallas County, Texas, United States. Founded soon after the American Civil War, the town peaked in the 1890s then dwindled in population throughout the 20th century before being delisted as a community in 1987. The area is now an incorporated part of the city of Dallas.

Warren Travis White High School is a public secondary school in Dallas, Texas (USA). W. T. White High School enrolls students in grades 9-12 and is a part of the Dallas Independent School District. The school, named in honor of the Dallas school superintendent who served from 1946 to 1968, is located in North Dallas about a mile southwest of the Interstate 635 (LBJ Freeway) and Dallas North Tollway intersection. Parts of North Dallas are zoned to W. T. White, as well as sections of Addison, Carrollton, and Farmers Branch. In 2015, the school was rated "Met Standard" by the Texas Education Agency.

Cattleack Barbeque is a barbecue restaurant in Farmers Branch, Texas. Founded in 2010, it has been awarded a Bib Gourmand. It is only open Wednesday–Friday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM; this exclusivity in time has led to long lines to enter the restaurant. "Cattleack" is a pun on Cadillac.

Tenet Healthcare Corporation is a multinational healthcare services company based in Dallas, Texas, United States. Through its brands, subsidiaries, joint ventures, and partnerships, including United Surgical Partners International (USPI), the company operates 65 hospitals and over 450 healthcare facilities. Tenet also operates Conifer Health Solutions, which provides healthcare support services to health systems and other clients. Since its founding in 1969, Tenet has expanded significantly. Among other major acquisitions and formations, Tenet founded Conifer Health Solutions in 2008, MedPost Urgent Care in 2014, and in 2013 acquired Vanguard Health Systems, Inc., an investor-owned hospital company whose operations complemented Tenet's existing business. The acquisition created the third-largest investor-owned hospital company in the United States in terms of revenue and the third-largest in number of hospitals owned. In 2015, Tenet acquired USPI, which created the largest operator of outpatient surgery centers in the United States. In 2021, the company ranked 167th in the Fortune 500.The company has settled a number of multimillion settlements related to defrauding Medicare, Medicaid, and patients, which includes admitting psychiatric patients who did not need hospitalization and then charging these patients inflated prices.

Dallas International School Mission Laïque Française (DIS) is an elementary, middle, and high school in the North Dallas area in Dallas, Texas, United States, and is the only international private school in Dallas. It is an English-French school and uses the French educational system. It is a part of the Mission Laïque Française network. Dallas International School is accredited by the Independent Schools Association of the Southwest (ISAS). In 2016, DIS was ranked by the Washington Post as #24 in the nation for "America's Most Challenging High Schools.

The 1984 Dallas nightclub shooting was a mass shooting that occurred on June 29, 1984, in Dallas, Texas. Abdelkrim Belachheb, a 39-year-old Moroccan national and resident alien, opened fire in Ianni's Restaurant and Club, a bar, killing six and severely injuring one. As under Texas law multiple murder by itself was not one of the aggravating factors required to make murder a capital crime, Belachheb could not be sentenced to death. The shooting resulted in a change in Texas law making multiple murder itself a capital crime, and Belachheb was instead sentenced to life in prison. The shooting also resulted in criticism of American immigration policy, as Belachheb was able to get a visa despite being a fugitive in both Belgium and Morocco. Shortly after the 30th anniversary of the shooting, The Dallas Morning News described it as "Dallas’ worst mass murder".

The Japanese School of Dallas (ダラス補習授業校 Darasu Hoshū Jugyō Kō) is a part-time Japanese educational program for Japanese citizens and Japanese Americans located in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. The school office in Dallas, and it conducts its classes at Ted Polk Middle School in Carrollton. As of 2015 Munetake Yamamura (山村 宗武 Yamamura Munetake) is the principal.
