Dallas International School

The Dallas Texas Temple is the 30th operating temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). It serves nearly 50,000 members in North Texas, and a few congregations in northwest Louisiana, southwest Arkansas and southeast Oklahoma.

Melshire Estates is a neighborhood in north Dallas, Texas (USA). It is generally bounded by Charlestown Drive (and the houses to the north facing it) on the north, Preston Road ( SH 289) on the east, Forest Lane on the south, and the Dallas North Tollway on the west. Small areas adjacent to Forest Lane, a shopping center on the northwestern corner of Preston Road and Forest Lane, and townhomes along Lindenshire Lane and Brookstone Drive are not considered part of the neighborhood.

Valley View Center was a shopping mall located at Interstate 635 and Preston Road in north Dallas, Texas, U.S. It is owned and managed by Dallas-based Beck Ventures. The anchor stores that were once JCPenney, Macy's, Sears, and Dillard's are all vacant. Originally developed in 1973, the mall flourished and expanded during the 1980s, but began to encounter financial difficulties by the 1990s. Bloomingdale's closed its location in 1990, which triggered a court battle with the mall's then-owner, LaSalle Street Fund, when Montgomery Ward attempted to acquire the anchor space once occupied by Bloomingdale's, which resulted in the space remaining empty until JCPenney opened there in 1996. The site of the mall's original movie theater closed in 1991, stayed empty for over a decade, and was eventually renovated and replaced with studio spaces for radio stations KBFB and KZMJ. A new, larger AMC movie theater later opened in 2004. The addition of this new theater slowed, but did not halt, the mall's falling fortunes. Macy's (who acquired the department store Foley's in 2006) closed in March 2008; Dillard's closed their location in December 2008; and, JCPenney later closed its location in April 2013. All three respective anchor spaces remained vacant despite differing proposed plans for renovation.

Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas (commonly referred to as Jesuit Dallas or Dallas Jesuit, and formerly known as Jesuit High School) is a private, college-preparatory school for young men under the direction of the Society of Jesus and home to the Jesuit Dallas Museum in Dallas, Texas. While Jesuit operates independently of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Dallas, it exists and serves the Catholic community with the leave of the bishop.

Northwood Club is a private country club in Dallas, Texas. It hosted the U.S. Open in 1952, won by Julius Boros, which ended Ben Hogan's streak of titles at three in three attempts; the Fort Worth native led after two rounds but finished in third place. Northwood has since been the host of several Regional USGA, local North Texas PGA, and AJGA tournaments. The course was originally designed by W. H. Diddel, with many large trees lining the fairways and traditional small greens. The course was redesigned in 1990 by Jay Morrish and Tom Weiskopf. The golf course plays 6,835 yards (6,250 m) to a par of 70 from the championship tees. The Northwood Club golf course consistently ranks in the Top 20 Golf Courses in Texas by The Dallas Morning News. The Northwood golf course has 007 bentgrass putting greens, along with Northbridge bermuda grass tees and fairways. The roughs are a mix of bermuda, zoysia and fescue grasses. Many mature trees are on the property, including live oak, red oak, pecan, American elm, cedar elm, hackberry and cottonwood. In addition to the 18 hole golf course, current athletic facilities include 16 tennis courts with four indoor courts. A notable Northwood tennis program alumni is tennis professional Bill Scanlon, who began playing tennis at Northwood at nine years of age. During Scalon's tennis career, he won two NCAA singles championships at Trinity University in 1975 and 1976, won numerous titles on the professional tour, and in 1983 was ranked as high as No. 9 in the world. Northwood Club has a large resort-style swimming pool complex, changing facilities, lockers and a poolside cafe and adult pavilion bar. The main clubhouse is approximately 65,000 square feet (6,000 m2) with banquet facilities seating 550 and can accommodate cocktail parties of up to 700, ala carte dining at lunch and dinner and several private-function rooms. Adjacent to the main clubhouse is a 16,000-square-foot (1,500 m2) two-story building offering a full fitness center, including group exercise and massage and child care services.

The 1952 U.S. Open was the 52nd U.S. Open, held June 12–14 at Northwood Club in Dallas, Texas. Julius Boros captured the first of his three major titles, four strokes ahead of runner-up Ed Oliver.Two-time defending champion Ben Hogan, raised in nearby Fort Worth, attempted to become the second to win three consecutive U.S. Opens, and with two rounds of 69 he had the 36-hole lead, two strokes ahead of George Fazio. But consecutive rounds of 74 in the Saturday heat dropped Hogan back to third place, five strokes behind. Boros carded a third-round 68 to take a two-stroke lead, then shot a 71 for a 281 total and waited in the clubhouse to see if anyone would catch him, but none did. The closest was Oliver with a 72 to finish at 285, four behind Boros. Temperatures reached 98 °F (37 °C) under sunny skies on Saturday, with a gallery estimated at 15,000.Hogan was admittedly affected by the heat, and his final round included an out-of-bounds approach shot on the dogleg par-4 sixth hole and numerous three-putts. Boros successfully scrambled during both rounds on Saturday, chipping close and making lengthy putts. Hogan told Boros he was "a magician."It was Boros' first win on the PGA Tour at the age of 32; just three years earlier he reached the quarterfinals of the U.S. Amateur. Boros won 17 more times as a professional, including a second U.S. Open in 1963. Five years later he won the PGA Championship in 1968 at age 48, the oldest ever to win a major championship until surpassed by Phil Mickelson in 2021. Hogan regained the title in 1953 for four U.S. Open wins in five attempts (he won his first in 1948 and did not enter in 1949 due to a near-fatal automobile accident). Through 2015, Willie Anderson remains the only winner of three consecutive U.S. Opens, with titles in 1903, 1904, and 1905. The only repeat winners since 1951 are Curtis Strange in 1989 and Brooks Koepka in 2018. The PGA Championship in 1952 was played the following week in Louisville, Kentucky. Boros was not eligible as he had been a pro less than five years, but received a special invitation from the PGA of America. He withdrew before his start time of the stroke-play qualifier on Wednesday after dissension from other players.Boros' wife had died the previous September during the birth of their only child, son Jay.

Alpha was an unincorporated freedmen's town in Dallas County, Texas, United States. Founded soon after the American Civil War, the town peaked in the 1890s then dwindled in population throughout the 20th century before being delisted as a community in 1987. The area is now an incorporated part of the city of Dallas.

The Galleria Dallas is a shopping mall and mixed-use development located at the intersection of Interstate 635 and the Dallas North Tollway in the North Dallas neighborhood of Dallas, Texas, United States. It was originally developed by Hines Interests Limited Partnership in 1982. The mall was modeled after a similar Hines development, the Houston Galleria, which opened in 1970. Both malls have ice rinks and a glass vaulted ceiling that is modeled after the historic Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II in Milan, Italy. The mall features Banana Republic, The Western Galleria, Macy's, Pottery Barn, Nordstrom, American Girl, Gap, and Old Navy among its tenants. The cost of constructing Galleria Dallas was at least $400 million ($1.16 billion, adjusted) when opened in 1982, ranking it as one of the most expensive construction projects for 1982, following Walt Disney Epcot Center.There are over 200 stores and restaurants, including an ice rink and the Westin Galleria Hotel. The property is owned by an investment consortium advised by UBS Realty Investors LLC, a subsidiary of UBS AG of Zurich, Switzerland, and is managed by Trademark Property Co.

The Covenant School is a K-12 classical Christian private school in Dallas, Texas. It was founded in 1993.In 2017 the school appointed Robert Littlejohn as head of school, starting with the 2018–2019 school year.

The Winston School is a private coeducational day school in Dallas, Texas. The grade K-12 school is for children who must learn using non-traditional techniques. Established in 1975, the school is named after Sir Winston Churchill and offers individualized curricula for students with learning differences.

Orr Branch is a roughly 2-mile (3.22 km) creek in the White Rock/Trinity River watershed in eastern Texas. From its uppermost source near the intersection of Tibbs and West Ricks Circle streets, it runs northeast through a portion of suburban Dallas until it flows into White Rock Creek (of which it is a tributary) and ultimately feeds into White Rock Lake.

Mesorah High School for Girls is a private Orthodox Jewish high school for girls in Dallas, Texas. Scheduled to open in August 2000 with grades 9 and 10, it was the first Jewish girls' high school in the city and the third all-girls' school in Dallas. It is the only Jewish girls' high school in the Southwestern United States. It initially had seven students. As of 2000 the school uniforms include ankle-length skirts and long-sleeved shirts. The school teaches Jewish religious subjects and secular subjects.
