The Buildings at 2517, 2519, and 2523 Central Street are three related apartment buildings at 2517, 2519, and 2523 Central Street in Evanston, Illinois. The three two-flats were built as part of one development project in 1927. Architect Arthur Jacobs designed all three buildings using a consistent theme, so that the three buildings would have different designs but appear as parts of a complex. Common features to each building include a light-colored brick exterior, a projecting front facade, stone trim, and green tile roofs. All three buildings have a vertical emphasis, which is created by either buttresses or piers. Each building has an ornate roof line; 2517 has a parapet crested by pinnacles, 2519 has brick piers capped by urns which extend above the roof, and 2523 has a parapet with limestone coping and pinnacles.The buildings were added individually to the National Register of Historic Places on March 15, 1984.

Central Street is the principal east-west artery in the far north of Evanston, Illinois and is a major thoroughfare in other northern and northwest suburbs of Chicago. It is the longest east-west road in the city of Evanston, where it stretches for over two miles (3 km) from the city limits west of Crawford Avenue to its eastern intersection with Sheridan Road near the historic Grosse Point Lighthouse. West of Evanston, the street begins in Glenview and runs westward intermittently through various municipalities, where it is alternately known as Central Road, Central Parkway, and Central Street. The street is located at 2600 N in the Evanston grid system and 10100 N in the Chicago grid system.

The Dwight Perkins House is a historic house located at 2319 Lincoln Street in Evanston, Illinois. The house was built in 1904 for architect Dwight H. Perkins and children's author and illustrator Lucy Fitch Perkins. Perkins designed his house in a style heavily influenced by the Prairie School and the Arts and Crafts Movement. The house was built from wood and stucco, materials characteristic of both styles which let the house blend into the surrounding nature. Its exterior decorative features include bracketed eaves, casement windows, trellises, and a half-timbered gable. Landscape architect Jens Jensen, a friend of the Perkinses, designed the house's surroundings, which include a reflecting pool. The inside of the house incorporates horizontal bands of windows which let in sunlight, unpainted wood features, and an open floor plan.The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places on August 29, 1985.

The Edward R. Ladd Arboretum is an arboretum located at 2024 McCormick Boulevard, Evanston, Illinois, occupying 23 acres (93,000 m2) in a narrow three-quarter mile (1.2 km) stretch between McCormick Boulevard and the North Shore Channel on land leased from the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago.The first tree, a ginkgo, was planted by the Evanston Review in the memory of Edward Rixon Ladd (1883–1956), its founder, publisher, and editor. The Arboretum was formally dedicated the following year, on June 10, 1960, after many other trees were planted. The arboretum's collection is arranged by plant family (birch, legume, maple, oak, and pine). Gardens include the Meadow Garden, Prairie Restoration Area, Cherry Tree Walk, Nut Tree, Rotary Club of Evanston's International Friendship Garden (with All-America Rose Selections), Women's Terrace, gazebo, and bird sanctuary. The Evanston Ecology Center is the arboretum's nature education facility. The Center features natural history exhibits of fossils, seeds and mounted animal specimens, and offers weekend, after school, summer camp, school and adult nature programs.

The Oak Circle Historic District is a historic district in Wilmette, Illinois, United States. The district covers 2.6 acres (0.011 km2) and includes twenty-two contributing properties and four non-contributing properties, all located along Oak Circle. It primarily consists of fifteen single-family homes representative of the Prairie School and Craftsman styles of architecture. The Oak Circle Historic District was added to the National Register of Historic Places on June 21, 2001; it was the first historic district to be designated in Wilmette.

Evanston Central Street is the northernmost of the three commuter railroad stations in Evanston, Illinois. It is an elevated station at Green Bay Road and Central Street, surrounded by a neighborhood of stores, restaurants and multi-story apartment buildings. Just north of the station, the tracks descend to grade and pass through Wilmette on ground level. Evanston Central Street station is served by Metra's Union Pacific North Line, with service south to Ogilvie Transportation Center in Chicago and as far north as Kenosha, Wisconsin. The station is 13.3 miles (21.4 km) from Ogilvie Transportation Center. In Metra's zone-based fare system, Evanston Central Street is in zone C. As of 2018, Evanston Central Street is the 27th busiest of Metra's 236 non-downtown stations, with an average of 1,346 weekday boardings. There are two platforms: northbound trains stop at the west platform, and southbound trains stop at the east platform. Evanston Central Street has a station house on the east platform. The station house contains a ticket booth as well as a coffee and pastry shop named "Upstairs Cafe" owned and run by three Evanston women, two of whom are professional bakers. The station house is open from 5:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. and a ticket agent is present during these hours on weekdays. As of April 25, 2022, Evanston Central St. is served by 30 inbound trains and 28 outbound trains on weekdays, by 11 trains in each direction on Saturdays, and by eight trains in each direction on Sundays. During the summer concert season, the extra weekend train to Ravinia Park also stops here. This is the closest Metra station to Northwestern University's sports complex at Ryan Field. The 15th hole fairway and 16th hole tee box of the Canal Shores Golf Course adjoin this Metra station. The Chicago Transit Authority's Central station on the Purple Line is less than a mile to the east.

Wilmette is the name of a commuter railroad station in Wilmette, Illinois that is served by Metra's Union Pacific North Line. Trains go south to Ogilvie Transportation Center and as far north as Kenosha, Wisconsin. Travel time to Ogilvie is 31 minutes on local trains, and as little as 27 minutes on morning inbound trains and 22 minutes on one afternoon inbound train. In Metra's zone-based fare system, Wilmette is in zone C. As of 2018, Wilmette was the 18th busiest of Metra's 236 non-downtown stations, with an average of 1,653 weekday boardings.The station is located at Green Bay Road and Washington Avenue in Wilmette's central business district. It is also in close proximity to the Wilmette Village Hall. Northbound trains stop on the west platform and southbound trains stop on the east platform. The closest CTA Purple Line station is Linden, about a mile away. As of April 25, 2022, Wilmette is served by all 35 trains in each direction on weekdays, by 12 trains in each direction on Saturdays, and by all nine trains in each direction on Sundays.

Northwestern Field was a football stadium in Evanston, Illinois. It opened in 1905 and was home to the Northwestern Wildcats football team prior to the Dyche Stadium (now known as Ryan Field) opening in 1926. It had a capacity of 10,000 people. Northwestern Field was located on Central Ave, seventy-five feet east of the current stadium.After significant victories during the 1903 season drew large crowds, Northwestern business manager and former Evanston mayor William Dyche lobbied the school for a new stadium, arguing that 1,000-seat Sheppard Field could no longer meet popular demand. A 12-acre (49,000 m2) lot northwest of campus was chosen for the project, with construction beginning in 1904 and ending in 1905.

The Chicago and Northwestern Depot is a former railway station in Wilmette, Illinois, which has been on the National Register of Historic Places since 1975. The station served the Chicago and North Western Railway along what is now Metra's Union Pacific/North Line. It was built in 1873 as a passenger station and became a freight station in the 1890s before closing in 1946. The station was relocated to its current location on June 13, 1974, and it has since been remodeled as a restaurant. The depot has been called "Wilmette's most historic building," and the Chicago Sunday Times referred to the station as "the finest station on the entire line" upon its opening.

Fanny's Restaurant was a notable eatery located at 1601 Simpson Street Evanston, IL 60201 USA (the first suburb north of the Chicago City Limits) between 1946 and 1987. It was an anomaly in that it was located in a working-class neighborhood and yet known the world over. Patrons included the Marshall Field Family, of department store fame. Both the salad dressing and meat sauce won the International Epicurian Award of France. It was cited by Chicago Magazine as one of the top 40 Chicago restaurants ever. According to that same Chicago Magazine article Kraft Foods offered $75,000 in 1948 to buy Fanny's salad dressing recipe. This offer was refused. The restaurant was closed due to the deteriorating health of the founder, Fanny Lazar née Bianucci. According to the May 11, 1991 Chicago Sun Times and Chicago Tribune obituaries, Fanny Lazar died at Saint Francis Hospital of Evanston. At some point, possibly in the 1960s, Fanny's products became available on grocery shelves and the business continues on today through mail order. For several years the restaurant building at Simpson Street and Ashland Avenue was shuttered, then later occupied by rental tenants. During this period there was difficulty maintaining tenants because of what was described as ‘strange happenings’ and the claims that the building was haunted. However, during the condominium boom which occurred in the United States during the first ten years of the 21st Century it was heavily altered and converted into loft spaces. According to a July 5, 1998 Chicago Sun Times article a second version of the restaurant was opened in Union Pier, MI. It appears to remain in business as of 2011, as it can be found through searching local tourism web sites. Fanny's in Union Pier Michigan was located in the Gordon Beach Inn, It's no longer in business.
