Parks Tower (Namba Parks)

Namba Parks (なんばパークス Nanba Pākusu) is an office and shopping complex located in Namba-naka Nichome, Naniwa-ku, Osaka, Japan, the south of Namba Station on Nankai Railway. It consists of a high-rise office building called Parks Tower and a 120-tenant shopping mall with rooftop garden. Namba Parks was developed by Jon Jerde of The Jerde Partnership in the footprint of the since closed Osaka Stadium. There is a carnival mall on the 1st floor. For shopping, various shops are available on 2nd to 5th floor. Casual restaurants are located on 6th floor while fine-dining restaurants are on the 7th and 8th floor, where you can choose from various kinds of food, such as Japanese, Korean, and Italian. The 9th floor (topmost) has landscape garden. There is also an amphitheater for live shows, as well as space for small personal vegetable gardens and wagon shops. Namba Parks was conceived as a large park, a natural intervention in Osaka's dense urban condition. Alongside a 30-story tower, the project features a lifestyle commercial center crowned with a rooftop park that crosses multiple blocks while gradually ascending eight levels. In addition to providing a highly visible green component in a city where nature is sparse, the sloping park connects to the street, making it easy for passers-by to enter its groves of trees, clusters of rocks, cliffs, lawn, streams, waterfalls, ponds and outdoor terraces. Beneath the park, a canyon carves a path through specialty retail, entertainment and dining venues.

Osaka Stadium (大阪球場, owned by Osaka Stadium Corporation (大阪スダヂアム興業株式会社)) was a stadium in Naniwa-ku, Osaka, Japan. It opened in 1950, with a capacity of 32,000 people. It was built over the site of a red-brick tobacco plant which was destroyed during the bombing of Osaka during World War II. The stadium was torn down in 1998 and was replaced by the office and shopping complex of Namba Parks in several stages, with final construction ending in April 2007.The stadium was primarily used for baseball and was home of the Nankai Hawks until they moved to the Heiwadai Stadium in Fukuoka (subsequently becoming the Fukuoka Daiei Hawks, and are now the Fukuoka Softbank Hawks) in 1988.Madonna kicked off her Who's That Girl World Tour at the stadium with two sold-out concerts on June 14 and 15, 1987. They were her first concerts in Japan.Michael Jackson concluded the first leg of his Bad World Tour at the stadium, with three consecutive sold-out shows on October 10–12, 1987.

The Osaka movie theatre fire took place on 1 October 2008 at around 3AM, where an adult video arcade was set on fire deliberately. As a result, sixteen victims died and nine more were injured.

Osaka Prefectural Gymnasium (大阪府立体育会館, Ōsaka furitsu taiikukaikan) is an indoor sporting arena located in Namba, Osaka, Japan. It first opened in 1952 and the current building was constructed in 1987. It is the venue of a professional sumo tournament (honbasho) held in March every year. The capacity of the arena is 8,000 people. Its total revenue for the 2006 fiscal year was 260 million yen, of which sumo provided 80 million. In April 2008 the Japan Sumo Association made clear its surprise at plans by the prefectural government to demolish the gymnasium and sell the vacant lot.In March 2012, the arena was renamed Bodymaker Colosseum (ボディメーカー コロシアム, Bodimēkā koroshiamu) after the naming rights were sold to sports apparel company BB Sports for the next three years. The name was changed back in April 2015, when BB Sports did not renew their deal. In June 2015, the Edion Corporation signed a three-year deal for the arena's naming rights, renaming it Edion Arena Osaka (エディオンアリーナ大阪, Edion Arīna Ōsaka).It has hosted several professional wrestling shows, including Osaka Hurricane from 2005 to 2012, NJPW Dominion from 2009 to 2014, NJPW Power Struggle since 2011, and The New Beginning in Osaka since 2012. On October 12, 2019, the venue hosted the Rizin 19 mixed martial arts fight. On February 22, 2023, the International Lethwei Federation Japan held a Lethwei event called Japan 15 - Kizuna at the venue.

Swissôtel Nankai Osaka (スイスホテル南海大阪) is a hotel situated directly above Namba Station on the Nankai Railway lines in Chūō-ku, Osaka, Japan. The hotel is owned by Nankai Electric Railway Co., Ltd., and managed by the Switzerland-based hotel chain Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts.

Naniwa-ku (浪速区) is one of 24 wards of Osaka, Japan. It has an area of 4.37 km², and a population of 51,567.

The Osaka Chinese School is a Chinese international school in Naniwa-ku, Osaka, Japan. It serves grades 1-9Ú.In 1986 Chang Hwei-chin, then the school principal, stated that every year students of the Chinese school's junior high school entered Japanese senior high schools after passing entrance examinations for admission. During the 1980s the school had experienced financial difficulties and principal Chang stated that the school had a "survival problem" in 1986.The government of Osaka Prefecture classifies the school as a "miscellaneous school". The municipal government of Osaka allows OCS graduates who are Chinese citizens and people of Chinese descent to sit for public high school examinations, but the government has refused the same permission to OCS graduates who are Japanese citizens not of Chinese descent.

Nipponbashi (日本橋) is a shopping district of Naniwa Ward, Osaka, Japan. The area is centered along Sakaisuji Avenue, extending from the Ebisu-chō Interchange of the Hanshin Expressway in the south, to Nansan-dōri (just east of Nankai Namba Station) in the north. Known colloquially as "Den-Den Town," Nipponbashi is known for its many shops which specialize in furniture, tools, and "otaku" interests such as electronics, anime, manga, and collectibles. Nipponbashi is often compared to Akihabara Electric Town, its equivalent (in terms of focus) in Tokyo. Although written with the same kanji 日本橋 in Japanese, Nihonbashi in Chūō, Tokyo is a different place and has a different pronunciation.

The Sennichi Department Store Building fire occurred in Sennichimae, Minami-ku (now Chuo-ku), Osaka, Japan on May 13, 1972. The fire killed at least 118 people and injured another 78. It was the worst department store fire in terms of casualties in Japan. The building that housed the department store also contained various other businesses, including a cabaret. All of the victims had been in the cabaret.

Ōsaka Namba Station (大阪難波駅, Ōsaka-Nanba-eki) is a railway station on the Kintetsu Namba Line and Hanshin Namba Line in the Namba district of Chūō-ku, Osaka, Japan. It is adjacent to Namba Station and JR Namba Station. Trains of the Nara Line depart from and arrive at the station.

Imamiya Ebisu Shrine (今宮戎神社, Imamiya Ebisu jinja) is a Shinto shrine located in Naniwa-ku, Osaka Prefecture, Japan. According to legend, it was established in 600 during the reign of Empress Suiko. Its annual festival is held from January 9 to 11. The kami enshrined here included Amaterasu (天照皇大神), Kotoshironushi (事代主命, also known as Ebisu), Susanoo-no-Mikoto (素盞鳴尊), Tsukuyomi-no-Mikoto (月読尊), and Wakahiru-me (稚日女尊).

Hōzen-ji (法善寺) is a Buddhist temple of the Jōdo-shū sect in Chūō-ku, Osaka, Japan. The temple is located in the Dotonbori district, near Namba Station. It has a reputation in Japan for helping women who are about to give birth.
