Wealden Edge Hangers

At 249 metres (817 ft), Wheatham Hill is one of the highest hills in the county of Hampshire, England. It is part of the North Hampshire Downs. Much of the hill is covered in mixed forest and there is a trig point at 244 metres, which is also the site of Cobbett's View. According to a nearby information panel: "The excellent views from this hilltop were first noted in 1822 when William Cobbett rode through here, and subsequently published his "Rural Rides". '...out we came, all in a moment, at the very edge of the hanger! And never, in all my life, was I so surprised and so delighted! I pulled up my horse, and sat and looked; and it was like looking from the top of a castle down into the sea; except that the valley was land not water' Until 2010 this viewpoint had been lost for many years under recent tree growth. Yet an old trig point (triangulation station) remained to indicate that the view had once been visible for OS maps to be surveyed. And so Countryside Rangers felled these trees to reveal the spectacular views that Cobbett so much admired. There is a minor track over the summit. It is located in a Special Area of Conservation known as the East Hampshire Hangers.On the southeastern spur of the hill in the woods is a tumulus, evidence of prehistoric settlement in the area.Stoner Hill (233 metres (764 ft)) is a subsidiary summit of Wheatham Hill (249 metres (817 ft)).

Hawkley Warren (grid reference SU730284) is a woodland on the northeast-facing Wealden Edge, near the village of Hawkley, three miles north of Petersfield in Hampshire. The site is situated in a deep chalk combe. The site is owned by Hampshire County Council and managed as a nature reserve jointly by the council and Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust. The woodland glades are kept open by coppicing.

The nearest railway station is 2.2 miles (3.5 km) to the southeast in the village of Liss. Hawkley is situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty, sitting on the Hangers Way. Hawkley Warren, an important site for Red Helleborine, borders the village. The village's St Peter and St Paul Church (with its Rhenish helm on its tower), and Hawkley Hurst house, were both designed by celebrated architect Samuel Sanders Teulon. The church is a listed building and there are 17 other listed buildings in the parish.

Priors Dean is a hamlet in the Hampshire Downs about 3 miles (5 km) west of Liss and about 4 miles (6.4 km) north of Petersfield, Hampshire, England. It is a deserted medieval village first mentioned in the 1100s. Since 1932 it and Colemore have been in a single civil parish of Colemore and Priors Dean. The nearest railway station is at Liss.

Steep is a village and civil parish in the East Hampshire district of Hampshire, England. Its nearest town is Petersfield, which lies 1.4 miles (2.3 km) south of the village, just off the A3 road. The nearest railway station is Petersfield, at 1.6 miles (2.6 km) south of the village. It has two public houses, The Harrow and the Cricketers Inn, with the former being an 18th-century Grade II listed building. According to the 2011 census, it had a population of 1,391. Iron Age and Roman remains have been found in the area. Steep formerly included two detached exclaves, the larger called Ambersham, which lay deep inside Sussex. These were two of the three detached portions of Hampshire in Sussex, and were annexed to that county when a new law came into effect in 1844. The church of All Saints was built around 1125. From medieval times, Steep was included in the parish of East Meon until it became an independent parish in 1867. Since 1899 the village has been the location of Bedales, a progressive public school.

Bedales School is a public school (co-educational private school, boarding and day) in the village of Steep, near the market town of Petersfield in Hampshire, England. It was founded in 1893 by Amy Badley and John Haden Badley in reaction to the limitations of conventional Victorian schools and has been co-educational since 1898. Since 1900 the school has been on a 120-acre (0.49 km2) estate in the village of Steep, near Petersfield, Hampshire. As well as playing fields, orchards, woodland, pasture, multiple sport pitches and a nature reserve, the campus also has two Grade I listed arts and crafts buildings designed by Ernest Gimson, the Lupton Hall (1911), which was co-designed, built and largely financed by ex-pupil Geoffrey Lupton, and the Memorial Library (1921). There are also three contemporary award-winning buildings: the Olivier Theatre (1997) designed by Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios, the Orchard Building (2005) by Walters & Cohen and the Art and Design Building (2017) also by Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios.

Woolbeding and Pound Commons is a 171.9-hectare (425-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest north of Midhurst in West Sussex.The commons have areas of wet and dry heath, woodland, ponds and wet flushes. Invertebrates include a number of Red Data Book species, such as the bee Hylaeus gibbus, the Eumenes coarctatus and Psen bruxellensis wasps and the click-beetle Hylis olexai. The site also provides a habitat for three rare birds, woodlark, nightjar and Dartford warbler.The site is crossed by roads and footpaths.

Goleigh Hill is one of the highest points in the county of Hampshire, England. It is part of the Hampshire Downs and reaches a height of 220 metres (720 ft) above sea level. Goleigh Hill rises about 2.5 kilometres west of the village of Empshott in Hampshire and is one of the East Hampshire Hangers. The top of the hill is open. Wooded areas on its flanks included Goleigh and Lye Woods to the west and Abbot's Copse to the east. Goleigh Farm lies on the northwestern slope of the hill with Goleigh Manor in the valley below it. There is a trig point at the summit.

The Harrow is a Grade II listed public house at Harrow Lane, Steep, Hampshire GU32 2DA.It is on the Campaign for Real Ale's National Inventory of Historic Pub Interiors.The Guardian calls it "one of Britain's timeless, rural watering holes", on a quiet country lane that becomes a footpath as it reaches a small stream by the pub, which dates back to the 16th century. English Heritage notes that the current building was built in the 18th century.

Upper Greensand Hangers: Empshott to Hawkley is a 37.7-hectare (93-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest north of Petersfield in Hampshire. It is part of the East Hampshire Hangers Special Area of Conservation.This site comprises a number of woods along steep rocky slopes in the Upper Greensand. These conditions produce unusual lime-rich woodlands and specialised mosses and liverworts on the rocks. The dominant tree is ash, which has often been coppiced. The ground flora is diverse, including plants such as dog's mercury and yellow archangel.
