Sutton Scarsdale Hall is a Grade I listed Georgian ruined stately home in Sutton Scarsdale, just outside Chesterfield, Derbyshire.

Holmewood is a village in the North East Derbyshire district of Derbyshire, being a former coal mining village with close links to the villages of Heath, North Wingfield and Temple Normanton. It is in the civil parish of Heath and Holmewood. The village of Holmewood was formed as a residence by The Williamthorpe Colliery Company from 1905 until 1970, when it closed due to the high cost of deep seam mining. The colliery was the main employer of the village and upon its closure, caused much unemployment within the area. As a consequence of the Margaret Thatcher Government in the late 1980s, plans were put in place to construct two large industrial estates to limit the high unemployment levels within the ex-colliery communities in the North Derbyshire Area. This industrial estate has now expanded to cover a much larger area and is known as the 'Holmewood Enterprise Zone'. Due to EU Government incentives, the site attracts high levels of investment from national-level companies.There is a countryside park on the site, which is known as the Five Pits Trail, which links the five villages around Holmewood. The area contains several ponds that, once heavily polluted, are now havens for wildlife and are popular with anglers and birdwatchers.The village has many small shops, a Working men's club, churches and a public library. The local football team is Holmewood Park Rangers.

The village has a parish church, a pub, The Arkwright Arms, and a parish council. Sutton cum Duckmanton contains the villages of Arkwright Town, Duckmanton, Long Duckmanton, and Sutton Scarsdale. Hamlets include Sutton Spring Wood. The population was 1,582 at the 2011 Census.

Duckmanton Tunnel is a former 501-yard (458-metre) long twin-track railway tunnel between Chesterfield and Arkwright Town in Derbyshire, England.

Arkwright Town, commonly referred to as Arkwright, is a village in Sutton cum Duckmanton, North East Derbyshire, England, that is notable for having moved its location in the early 1990s. Despite its name, the village has no official town status. Located between Chesterfield and Bolsover on the A632 road, it was formerly a coal mining village. Arkwright Colliery closed in 1988 and it was then discovered that the community was threatened by emissions of methane gas that caused some of its houses to be evacuated. The whole village was owned by British Coal and a decision was made in cooperation with Derbyshire County Council to transfer ownership of the 52 properties to a housing trust, construct a new village of 56 properties to the north of the site affected by methane, and move all the residents. Construction was completed by 1995 when the old Arkwright Town was demolished. Part of the deal with British Coal included the use of open cast mining on a 100-acre site which began in November 1993 and continued until c. 2005.A new nature walk was established in 2010 following routes once used as railway lines.
