The Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre is a museum in the village of Great Missenden in Buckinghamshire, England. Children's and short story writer Roald Dahl lived in the village in Gipsy House for 36 years until his death in 1990.

Great Missenden railway station serves the village of Great Missenden in Buckinghamshire, England and the neighbouring villages of Prestwood, Little Hampden and Little Missenden. The station lies on the London Marylebone – Aylesbury line and is served by Chiltern Railways trains. It is between Amersham and Wendover stations. Both station platforms have step-free access.

Great Missenden is an affluent village and civil parish in the Misbourne Valley in the Chiltern Hills in Buckinghamshire, England, situated between the towns of Amersham and Wendover. It adjoins the village of Little Kingshill, and is a mile from Little Missenden and the village of Prestwood. The narrow and historic High Street is bypassed by the main A413 London to Aylesbury Road. It is located in the centre of the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The source of the Misbourne is to be found just north of the village, although the upper reach of the river runs only in winter and the perennial head is in Little Missenden. The village is now best known as home to the late Roald Dahl, the world-famous adult and children's author.

Missenden Abbey is a former Arrouasian (Augustinian) monastery, founded in 1133 in Great Missenden, Buckinghamshire, United Kingdom. The abbey was dissolved in 1538, and the abbey church demolished. In 1574 a house, also known as Missenden Abbey, was constructed on the site of the monastic cloisters, incorporating some of the monastic remains. The house was altered several times, gaining its current "Regency Gothic" style at the beginning of the 19th century. The house was "gutted" by fire in 1985 and subsequently rebuilt.

Elmhurst (also known as Elmtrees) is a semi-detached house at 5 High Street in Great Missenden, Buckinghamshire. It is divided into seven apartments. It predominantly dates from the 18th century and surrounds a 16th-century house.The main wing has been listed Grade II* on the National Heritage List for England since August 1977. The north wing, known as Gable End, was separately listed Grade II in July 1984. The house is 2 storeys in height, made from red and grey brick and has a distinctive 19th century covered entrance with a semi circular iron roof and a traceried fanlight over the door.The present house was erected by the Dormer family and was inhabited for several years by the widow of William Cleaver, the Bishop of Chester. It was subsequently the residence of Frances, the wife of the 19th century radical MP Robert Knight. A September 1840 letter from farmer John Burgess was sent from Elmhurst to the Journal of the Royal Agricultural Society of England. An 1870 letter from Gilbert William Child was sent from Elmhurst to Charles Darwin.

Angling Spring Wood is in Great Missenden, Buckinghamshire, England with an area of 16.37 hectares (40.5 acres). It is owned by Chiltern District Council. The woodland is located close to Gipsy House, the former residence of Roald Dahl. The author regularly walked in the woods, gaining inspiration to write Danny, the Champion of the World and Fantastic Mr Fox.

The Great Missenden War Memorial is located at the Church of St Peter and St Paul in the village of Great Missenden in Buckinghamshire. The memorial marks the deaths of local individuals who died fighting in World War I and World War II. It was dedicated on 8 May 1920 by the Bishop of Buckingham, Edward Shaw. The memorial is a tall thin stone pillar cross, with a two step base.Two smaller stone memorial plaques in Great Missenden also honour local residents who died fighting in the world wars. A British Legion plaque is located at 52 High Street in Great Missenden, and another plaque is located inside the memorial hall on the Link Road. The memorial hall plaque was unveiled by the Lord Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire, Charles Wynn-Carington, 1st Marquess of Lincolnshire on 12 May 1921. A grant of £411 was given to repair the High Street plaque by the War Memorials Trust in 2008 after the letters had become faint. The three memorials list 51 individuals from the village; 39 of whom died in World War I and 12 who died in World War II.

Little Kingshill is a small Chilterns village in the parish of Little Missenden in Buckinghamshire, England, with the closest amenities being in its post town of Great Missenden. It is approximately five miles west of Amersham, about four and a half miles north west of High Wycombe and just under two miles south of Great Missenden, with its fast train to London Marylebone. The hamlet name 'Kingshill' means a hill in possession of the king, which local folklore suggests was King John; there is certainly evidence of King John granting the manor at Kingshill to Hugh de Gournay in 1213, although this same document states that the land was previously possessed by Geoffrey fitzPeter. The affix 'Little' was added later to differentiate between the hamlet and neighbouring village Great Kingshill, although the two are in separate parishes and, indeed, separate districts, with Little Kingshill, in effect, an extension of Great Missenden. Little Kingshill has one pub: The Full Moon in Hare Lane. The main road, Windsor Lane, is home to the playing fields, the playground, the Baptist church, which is home to a coffee shop, and the village school. This Chiltern village is surrounded by Metropolitan Green Belt countryside. Little Kingshill has its own primary school with a nursery, catering for children from 3–11 years. It is controlled by Buckinghamshire County Council.

Prestwood is a village in Buckinghamshire, England. It is located in the Chiltern Hills, about two miles west of Great Missenden and six miles north of High Wycombe.

Spurlands End is a hamlet in the parish of Little Missenden, in Buckinghamshire, England.For most of its history, it consisted of just five neighbouring farms along Spurlands End Road - Wycombe Heath Farm, Bramble Farm, Spurlands End Farm, Nortons Farm, and Copes Farm. The hamlet used to lay in the Manor of Peterley (sometimes "Peterley Stone") which, for many years, was presided over by the Lords Dormer. A Victorian windmill was also once sited here. The hamlet is thought to derive its name from the Sperling family who lived here in the medieval period. The 'End' element is derived from its position on the edge of the old Wycombe Heath (now vanished). In modern times, Spurlands End has become closely associated with neighbouring Holmer Green. Spurlands House was used for a few years in 1940s as a school-cum-home for about a dozen children.

Holy Trinity Church, Prestwood is the Church of England church serving the Buckinghamshire village and parish of Prestwood. The church, its lych gate and the church school, and Church Cottage at 134 Wycombe Road are listed, as well as Prestwood Park House behind the church.
