St Begh's Church or St Begh's Priory Church is a Roman Catholic parish church in Whitehaven, Cumbria, England. It was built from 1865 to 1868 and designed by E. W. Pugin in the Gothic Revival style. It was founded and is still administered by the Benedictines from Belmont Abbey, Herefordshire. It is located on the Coach Road in the Corkickle part of Whitehaven. It is a Grade II listed building.

The Recreation Ground (known locally as the 'Recre') and for sponsorship reasons the Ortus REC is a rugby league stadium in Whitehaven, Cumbria, England. It is the home of Whitehaven R.L.F.C. The ground has witnessed many other sports such as football, boxing, speedway and whippet racing.

Kells is an area of Whitehaven in Cumbria, England, elevated on a cliff to the south of the town centre, overlooking the Irish sea. The population of this ward at the 2011 census was 2,437. Kells was built as a coal mining community. A cable railway, the Corkickle Brake, was opened in 1881 to connect the pits at the top of the steep incline to the railway line in Whitehaven town below. As the pits closed, the Corkickle Brake was abandoned in 1932. It was re-opened in 1955 to serve the Marchon chemical works (later a division of Albright and Wilson) in Kells. When the Brake was again closed in 1986, it was the last standard gauge cable railway operating in the UK.With the change from phosphate-based detergents, the Marchon works was the victim of a gradual winding down process and finally closed in 2006.Kells Amateur Rugby League Football Club was first formed in 1931, and played in the Cumberland League winning every trophy for a number of years. Kells left the Cumberland League in 2012 to start life in division 3 of the national conference and won division 3 and division 2 at the first attempt. Kells are known as the amateur challenge cup kings making excellent progress in the competition's history Kells have recently been crowned national conference division one winners – their third national conference title in as many years. The backbone being built at Kells is extraordinary and Kells going into the premier conference 2016 as favourites and will make history if they can be the first team to win four consecutive league titles in as many years.

The Rum Story is a visitor attraction and museum in Whitehaven, Cumbria, England. It presents the story of the rum trade and the creation of rum. It is located in an original 1785 trading shop and warehouses. The Rum Story was started with United Kingdom National Lottery funding from the Millennium Commission and opened in May 2000. It was voted Cumbria Tourism's "Small Visitor Attraction" in 2007.The Jefferson family, wine merchants, imported wine and spirits for over two centuries until 1998. Their story is covered by The Rum Story. Brothers Henry and Robert Jefferson had joint interests in two estates in Antigua leased from Rear Admiral Sir William Ogilvy, father of Sir John Ogilvy, 9th Baronet. These were York's Estate (which had 146 enslaved people) and the New Division Estate (309 enslaved people) There is also a Margarett Jefferson listed in connection with the Bahamas, and a Thomas Jefferson in Jamaica.

Whitehaven Amateur Football Club is a football club in Whitehaven, Cumbria. The club are currently members of the West Lancashire League Premier Division and play at the County Ground.

Corkickle railway station is a railway station serving the suburb of Corkickle near Whitehaven in Cumbria, England. It is on the Cumbrian Coast line, which runs between Carlisle and Barrow-in-Furness. It is owned by Network Rail and managed by Northern Trains. The station opened on 3 December 1855, and is at the southern end of the 1,219 m (3,999 ft) tunnel from Whitehaven. Between 1855 and 1957, the station was known as Whitehaven Corkickle.

Haig Colliery was a coal mine in Whitehaven, Cumbria, in north-west England. The mine was in operation for almost 70 years and produced anthracitic coal which is most useful for coking coal. Situated on the coast, the underground workings of the mine spread westwards out under the Irish Sea and mining was undertaken at over 4 miles (6.4 km) out underneath the sea bed.

Whitehaven is a town and port on the English north west coast and near to the Lake District National Park in Cumberland, Cumbria, England. It lies by road 38 miles (61 km) south-west of Carlisle and 45 miles (72 km) to the north of Barrow-in-Furness. It was the administrative seat of the former Borough of Copeland, and has a town council for the parish of Whitehaven. The population of the town was 23,986 at the 2011 census.The town's growth was largely due to the exploitation of the extensive coal measures by the Lowther family, driving a growing export of coal through the harbour from the 17th century onwards. It was also a major port for trading with the American colonies, and was, after London, the second busiest port of England by tonnage from 1750 to 1772. This prosperity led to the creation of a Georgian planned town in the 18th century which has left an architectural legacy of over 170 listed buildings. Whitehaven has been designated a "gem town" by the Council for British Archaeology due to the historic quality of the town environment.Whitehaven was the site of a major chemical industry after World War II, but both that and the coal industry have disappeared, and today the major industry is the nearby Sellafield nuclear complex, which is the largest local employer of labour and has a significant administrative base in the town. Whitehaven includes a number of former villages, estates and suburbs, such as Mirehouse, Woodhouse, Kells and Hensingham, and is served by the Cumbrian coast railway line and the A595 road.

Haig Colliery Mining Museum was a visitor attraction in Kells, on the site of Cumbria's last deep coal mine on the cliffs above Whitehaven in Cumbria, England. It closed in January 2016 due to insolvency.

Whitehaven Town Hall is a municipal building in Duke Street in Whitehaven, Cumbria, England. The building, which was the headquarters of Whitehaven Borough Council, is a Grade II listed building.

Bransty is a suburb of Whitehaven in Cumbria, England. It is an average sized housing estate. The centre of it, The Green, is a meeting place for children to play football and games. It contains three forests, built around North Road and South View Road and Earls Road. Bransty School is on the top half of Bransty. It is a Primary school which contains roughly 200 pupils. The headteacher is Mrs Fearon. Bransty is located on the coast front of the town with fantastic views which overlook Whitehavens historic harbour, the Irish Sea and has great views of Scotland and the Isle of Man on clear days. Bransty had a Royal British Legion club which in 2006 was the first in the UK to be revamped as a New British Legion Club.Bransty New Legion, was situated at the top of Bransty Road, it had a members bar and was used for parties and local meetings, and had darts, dominoes and pool teams which have been successful in the past. The club used to hold bingo nights and did meals through the week and on Sundays. The club has unfortunately been shut down since 2013 and houses have been built in its place. The club was the home for the local Football sides Bransty Rangers. The football pitch is behind the legion cutting down the field. There are seven fields next to the football pitch which are used for farming. The football pitch has currently been extended due to work on the cliffs Due to safety conditions of houses on the wagon road. Bransty was also known for its bakery and post office which back in 2005 closed and was refurbished into houses. As of 2008, Bransty Rangers Football Club plays in Division One of the Tesco Cumberland League. The club comprises many age groups from under 8's up to under 16's, also Girls teams. The open age team plays in the Tesco county league on Saturdays and plays in the Egremont league on Sundays. Bransty used to have a small children's play park which was situated down from the football field, which had great views of the harbour and the sea. It was removed in 2017 due to safety concerns.
