Pollokshaws Burgh Hall

Pollokshaws West railway station is a railway station in Glasgow, Scotland. The station is managed by ScotRail and is served by trains on the Glasgow South Western Line.

Pollokshaws (Scots: Powkshaws) is an area on the South side of the city of Glasgow, Scotland. It is bordered by the residential neighbourhoods of Auldhouse to the east, Eastwood and Hillpark to the south and Shawlands to the north, with the Glasgow South Western Line railway and the open lands of Pollok Country Park to the west. The White Cart Water flows through the area.The housing stock consists of some sandstone tenement housing, modern brick tenement-style buildings, low-rise social housing and high rise/multi-storey tower blocks. Previously eight tower blocks stood in an area known as the Shawbridge Corridor; the last of these blocks was demolished in March 2016. Four other tower blocks remain, near Pollokshaws East railway station. According to the 2001 Census, Pollokshaws had a population of 4,295. Its residents are a mixture of working class and middle class social groups, and the area also had a large South Asian community.

Shawholm is a cricket ground in Glasgow, Scotland. Located within Pollok Country Park, it is the home ground of Poloc Cricket Club and has staged three first-class matches. The earliest match hosted by the club that is, arguably, of historic interest was the game between a West of Scotland select team and the Australian Imperial Forces as part of the latter's tour of England in 1919.Shawholm also played host to Scotland versus the MCC in June 1965 in a three-day match played between the 23rd and 25th. Subsequent Scotland international matches staged at the ground included versus Ireland in 1978. and Sri Lanka in 1979.Scotland's first televised cricket match also took place at Shawholm on 7 May 1955 when West of Scotland Cricket Club were Poloc's visitors. Poloc batted first making 110 for 9. In reply, West made 120 for 6. The ground was invited to host three internationals as part of the 2006 ECC European Championships. The matches (Netherlands versus Italy, Jersey versus Germany and Netherlands versus Denmark) saw white ball/black sightscreen cricket at Shawholm for the first time. The club also hosts the Scottish club Twenty20 Finals Day - the Murgitroyd Twenty20 -, first played for in 2008. In March 2023, Poloc Cricket Club announced their 145 year lease of Shawholm was being terminated.

Shawlands railway station is a railway station serving Shawlands, a suburb of Glasgow, Scotland. The station is managed by ScotRail and is located on the Cathcart Circle Line. It opened in April 1894, when the original line to Cathcart via Queens Park was extended in a loop back towards Glasgow Central. The Cathcart Circle Line has been electrified since 1962 under British Railways.

Auldhouse is an area of the Scottish city of Glasgow. It is situated south of the River Clyde along the banks of the Auldhouse Burn, a tributary of the White Cart Water. The housing stock mostly consists of inter-war sandstone terraces and 1950s tenement housing.

Mansewood (Scots: Mansewid) is a residential district in the Scottish city of Glasgow. It is situated south of the River Clyde and is surrounded by the districts of Eastwood, Hillpark, Pollokshaws in Glasgow, and Thornliebank and Giffnock in East Renfrewshire.

Hillpark Secondary School (Scottish Gaelic: Àrd-sgoil Chnoc na Pàirce [aːɾʲt̪skɔl xnɔkʲ na pʰaːɾʲç], Scots: Hullpairk Secondary) is a non-denominational secondary school located at 36 Cairngorm Road in the south side of Glasgow, Scotland. The school is one of 38 secondary schools in the Glasgow City Council area, and is named after the area in which the school is situated.

The Burrell Collection is a museum in Glasgow, Scotland, managed by Glasgow Museums. It houses the art collection of Sir William Burrell and Constance, Lady Burrell. The museum reopened on 29 March 2022 with free entry, having been closed for refurbishment since 23 October 2016.

Newlandsfield Park is a football ground in Newlands, Glasgow, Scotland. It is the home ground of West of Scotland Football League side Pollok F.C.

Pollok Football Club is a Scottish football club based in Newlands in the southside of the city of Glasgow. The club competes in the West of Scotland Football League and are one of the biggest football clubs operating in Scottish non-league football, regularly attracting crowds of around 700. Pollok play at Newlandsfield Park and wear black and white stripes. Their traditional rivals are Arthurlie of Barrhead.

Hillpark Secondary School is located within the neighbourhood, which is surrounded by other mainly residential areas such as Auldhouse, Mansewood, Newlands and Pollokshaws.
