Perth City Hall

Perth Museum is a museum which is set to open in March 2024. The museum is to be housed within Perth City Hall and 'will showcase the city’s important collections to tell the tale of Scotland through the prism of Perth,' the former capital of Scotland.The centrepiece of the museum will be the Stone of Destiny.

Perth Guildhall is a building at today's 102–106 High Street, Perth, Scotland. The structure, which stands at the corner of High and King Edward Streets, a block north of Perth City Hall, is Category B listed, dating to 1907. It stands on the site of a former guildhall that existed between 1722 and 1907. The previous building, which was torn down in May 1907, also used to hold theatre plays. Unlike today's three-storey structure, its predecessor was only two levels, the ground floor occupied by merchants, including D. Robertson booksellers and James Wotherspoon's hatters shortly before its demolition.The foundation stone of today's structure was laid in the second half of 1907 by incumbent Dean of Guild, James Barlas. It was opened on 29 August 1908. The building hosted the Guild's activities until 1988, at which point it suffered collateral damage from construction work on an adjacent building. The hall was deemed beyond economic repair, and was sold for development. The Guild used the funds to purchase new premises at 5 Atholl Street, near the North Inch. Its façade features sculptures in its segmental pediment, the work of H. H. Morton.

Perth mercat cross is located on King Edward Street in the Scottish city of Perth, Perth and Kinross. Erected in 1913, in memory of Edward VII, it stands immediately to the west of Perth City Hall, which was completed a year later, between it and St John's Centre. King Edward Street was created between 1901 and 1902. It is the fifth incarnation of the city's mercat crosses.

The vennels of Perth are a collection of small medieval streets in the city of Perth, Scotland. Similar to York's Snickelways, vennels are a public right-of-way passageway between the gables of buildings which can, in effect, be a minor street. In Scotland, the term originated in royal burghs created in the twelfth century, the word deriving from the Old French word venelle meaning "alley" or "lane". Unlike a tenement entry to private property, known as a "close", a vennel was a public way leading from a typical high street to the open ground beyond the burgage plots. The Latin form is venella, related to the English word "funnel". Perth developed from an initial plan of two parallel streets — High Street and South Street — linked by several vennels leading north and south. The names of these vennels have historic origins, and many — such as Cow Vennel and Fleshers Vennel — reflect the trades associated with their foundation. South Street was originally terminated at its eastern end by Gowrie House (the site of today's Perth Sheriff Court). Upon its demolition in the early 19th century, direct access was granted to the river.In 2018, Perth architect Fergus Purdie put forward a design to revamp a space off of Guard Vennel. If it were to be accepted, it would become a temporary events space. The plan was approved, on a city-wide scale, in March 2019.

St John's Kirk is a church in the Scottish city of Perth, Perth and Kinross. Of Church of Scotland denomination, it is located in St John's Place, just southeast of the city centre. It stands on the former site of a church dating to 1126. Today's structure, built around 1448, is a Category A listed building. The church is most noted for being the site of John Knox's 1559 sermon against idolatry, which began the Scottish Reformation. Perth was originally called St Johns Toun (or Saint Johnstoun), after John the Baptist, to whom the church is dedicated. The church is bounded by St John's Place to the north (fed by Kirkgate) and south (as South St John's Place, fed by St Ann's Lane), St John Street to the east and Flesher's Vennel to the west.

St John's Shopping Centre is a shopping mall in Perth, Scotland. Situated between (and with entrances from) South Street (to the south), King Edward Street (to the east), Scott Street (to the west) and the pedestrianised section of the High Street (to the north), it was built between 1985 and 1987. It cost around £20 million. Its main entrance is that facing the Category B listed Perth City Hall on King Edward Street, with Perth mercat cross standing between the two.Its construction meant the ancient St John's Square was demolished, with its residents relocated elsewhere in the city. The Session House also previously stood in the market place, immediately across from the western door of St John's Kirk, on the site of today's City Hall.The shopping centre was opened in March 1988 by Dr Willi Reiland, mayor for thirty years of Perth's twin town, Aschaffenburg, Germany.The centre was once owned by Gerald Grosvenor, 6th Duke of Westminster. It was purchased by the Universities Superannuation Scheme from BAE Systems Pension Funds in 2011.

The Salutation Hotel is a hotel and restaurant in Perth, Perth and Kinross, Scotland. It is a Category B listed building dating to around 1810, with earlier embellishments and later alterations. It is said to be the oldest hotel building in Scotland. It has expanded to occupy three neighbouring tenements, one to the right and two to the left.The earliest building recorded on this site was a private house belonging to the Murray family. It operated as a coaching inn between 1699 and 1745, and was a resting point on the coach roads from Edinburgh and Glasgow to the south to Aberdeen and Inverness to the north. The current street elevation was constructed in the early 19th century, at which time the Venetian window was added by Sir Robert Reid, the King's architect in Scotland.On 31 December 1745, a belated 25th birthday party for Bonnie Prince Charlie was held at the hotel.The building's facade has distinctive painted Black Watch figures.Inside, in room number 20, a stone fireplace is dated 1699. In the courtyard, to the rear, there is a stone dated 1619 bearing arms of the Earl of Moray.David Bowie played a show at the hotel, in the Moncreiffe Suite, on 7 November 1969. The Beatles have also stayed at the hotel.A renovation project of the hotel's exterior won the biennial Perth Civic Trust Award in 2016.

The Old Ship Inn is a public house in Perth, Perth and Kinross, Scotland. While the current building is late Victorian, an Old Ship Inn has been on the site since at least 1665. The inn was close to the original Perth mercat cross, which was moved when it was rebuilt. The inn's name references its proximity to Perth's original harbour, which lay at the end of the High Street.Although its address is given as High Street, its entrance on the medieval Skinnergate is more notable.It has been owned by Belhaven Brewery.

McEwens (originally known as James McEwen & Co.) was a department store located in the Scottish city of Perth. Specialising in homeware, it was established in March 1868, and was in business for nearly 150 years. It closed in March 2016, along with its branches in Oban and Ballater, with the loss of over 100 jobs. Its store location, at 56 St John's Street, was taken over in 2017 by Beales, an English department-store chain, but that has also since closed.The store's outbuildings, on Perth's Watergate, were proposed for demolition in 2019, to be replaced by housing.

Bank of Scotland is an historic building in Perth, Scotland. Designed by David Rhind, the building is a Category A listed structure dating to 1846. Located at 48–50 St John Street, it has also been a Central Bank.

St John the Baptist Church is located in Perth, Perth and Kinross, Scotland. Of Scottish Episcopalian denomination, it is located on Princes Street, at its junction with Canal Street, in the southeastern corner of the city centre. It adjoins the Greyfriars Burial Ground on its western side. Completed in 1851, it is now a Category B listed building. The church's architects were John Hay, William Hardie Hay and James Murdoch Hay, three brothers from Liverpool.Andrew Granger Heiton, nephew of Andrew Heiton, made additions in 1914.The site on which the church stands was purchased in 1795, on the condition that a place of worship for Church of England services be its only use. The chapel constructed that year was demolished in 1850 to make way for today's structure.

Perth Castle was a 9th-century castle in Perth, Scotland. It was located near the northern end of today's Skinnergate. In the 19th century, there was a memorial to the castle in Castle Gable, which ran north-west from the castle's former location, today occupied by Perth Concert Hall.
