Portland Arts and Technology High School

Casco Bay High School is a public high school in Portland, Maine, United States. Casco Bay High School describes itself as an Expeditionary Learning educational experience, which the school describes as being based on the Outward Bound learning system.Since the 2005–06 school year, the school has shared a facility with Portland Arts and Technology High School on Allen Avenue, in the city's North Deering neighborhood. Casco Bay is one of three public high schools within Portland Public Schools, the other two being Portland High School and Deering High School. Unlike the other two high schools, however, enrollment at Casco Bay is only open by a lottery.Opening in 2005, Casco Bay High made Portland the first city in the United States to offer Expeditionary Learning from kindergarten to 12th grade. Every year after, Casco Bay added a grade level, with 70 students per grade, and the school now has all grade levels attending (9-12) with 100 students per grade. The school has won numerous awards, and in 2012 was named the 8th best high school in Maine, and in 2018, it was named one of Maine’s top high schools by U.S. News & World Report, and the #5 high school in Maine by Niche.com in 2019. 98% of its graduates have been accepted to college. It is also one of the few high schools in Maine to offer Independent Study courses to Junior and Senior students. These are student-designed courses that can range from a study of 19th-century Literature to an exploration of Quantum Mechanics. Casco Bay High School enrolls up to a maximum of 400 students per year, currently serving 391.

Washington Avenue (known colloquially as Washington Ave) is a major street in Portland, Maine, United States. It runs for around 5.25 miles (8.45 km), from Auburn Street in the northwest to Congress Street in the southeast. It continues in parallel with Interstate 295 as it crosses Tukey's Bridge between exits 8 and 9. It is the main artery for traffic entering and leaving Portland to and from the north via city streets, and has been described as a "gateway to the Portland peninsula." Washington Avenue passes to the north of Back Cove, while Forest Avenue passes to its south. Washington Avenue is part of State Route 26 for its entire course. It picks up the designation from Auburn Street, which continues as State Route 100 south of its intersection with Washington Avenue.

Morrills Corner is a neighborhood and major intersection in Portland, Maine, United States. Centered around the intersections of Forest Avenue (part of U.S. Route 302 and State Route 100), Allen Avenue (SR 100) and Stevens Avenue. It was once home to some of the oldest families in what was the city of Deering. The Kennebec and Portland Railroad was laid through the neighborhood in 1847. It was abandoned in 1911. The Boston and Maine Railroad also ran through Deering Junction. From 1914 to 1933, the Portland–Lewiston Interurban entered Portland via the Portland Railroad line from Morrills Corner. Morrills Corner is named for brother Rufus and Levi Morrill, who lived there in the early 1800s. Lot Myrick Morrill, a governor of Maine, lived at Morrills Corner until he was 23.

Engine Company Number Nine Firehouse, also known as the Arbor Street Firehouse, is an historic former firehouse at 17 Arbor street in the North Deering neighborhood of Portland, Maine. It was constructed in 1902-03, shortly after Deering was annexed to Portland. It was built to reflect Portland's commitment to the newly annexed suburb as well as due to the city's switch to a paid fire department. It was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in October 2010. It now houses a commercial business.

The Stevens Avenue Armory is an historic former armory building in Portland, Maine, United States. Built in 1908 as a utilitarian two-story brick barn for the Portland Railroad Company's electric trolleys, it was converted into its current Art Deco style in 1940 by local architect and World War I veteran John P. Thomas. Thomas also designed other nearby buildings, including Deering High School. The armory was used by the Maine National Guard for training and recruitment purposes until 2015, when it was swapped for 29 acres of land along Route 1 in Saco that was owned by the University of New England. The building was valued at $3.1 million at the time of the swap.

The Westbrook College Historic District is a historic district in the Deering neighborhood of Portland, Maine. It is centered on the campus of the former Westbrook College, founded in 1831 as the nation's first coeducational boarding school. The college merged with the University of New England in 1996. The district, which includes six buildings constructed between 1833 and 1952, was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1977.

Grace Baptist School was a Baptist Christian school located in Portland, Maine, USA. Established 1976, Grace Baptist educated students in grades K-12. It closed in 2013 due to lack of funds.

Evergreen Cemetery is a garden style cemetery in the Deering neighborhood of Portland, Maine. With 239 acres (97 ha) of land, it is the largest cemetery in the state. Established in 1855 in what was then Westbrook, the cemetery is home to one of the state's most prominent collections of funerary art. The 140-acre (57 ha) historical portion of the cemetery was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992.

Forest Avenue (formerly known as Green Street; colloquially known as Forest Ave) is a major street in Portland, Maine, United States. It runs for around 4.78 miles (7.69 km), from Bridgton Road in the northwest to Congress Street, in downtown Portland, in the southeast. It is the main artery for traffic entering and leaving Portland to and from the west via city streets. Forest Avenue passes to the south of Back Cove, while Washington Avenue passes to its north. The street ends in Portland's Arts District. Forest Avenue is part of U.S. Route 302 (US 302) for almost its entire course. US 302 reaches its eastern terminus at Forest Avenue's interchange with Interstate 295 (I-295) and U.S. Route 1 (US 1) at the southern end of the Back Cove neighborhood.

Catherine McAuley High School was an all-girls' college preparatory school in Portland, Maine. Run by the Sisters of Mercy, it was located in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland. The school was established in 1969 and was named for the Sisters' founder, Catherine McAuley. Catherine McAuley High School was the successor school of two other all-women's Mercy schools, Saint Joseph's Academy (1881–1969) and Cathedral High School (1909–1969). In July 2016, the school building was transferred to The Maine Girls' Academy. In July 2018, The Maine Girls' Academy announced that it would not reopen for the following school year.

The Maine Girls' Academy (MGA) was an independent high school for girls located in Portland, Maine. Founded in 2016 as the successor to Catherine McAuley High School, the school was nonsectarian and not sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy, which previously sponsored Catherine McAuley High School.
