Wenvoe Castle Golf Club

Wenvoe Castle was a castle and country estate between Barry and Wenvoe, in the Vale of Glamorgan, south Wales. Today the former estate forms the Wenvoe Castle Golf Club. Goldsland lies on its western boundary.

Goldsland (Welsh: Tregold) is a small hamlet and farm in the Vale of Glamorgan in south Wales. It is located near the boundary of the Wenvoe Castle Golf Club in the parish of Wenvoe. It lies to the east of Dyffryn and south of St Lythans and the road leading from the west passes through the farms of Old and New Wallace. Goldsland Brook flows through here. A sub-manor was reportedly held at Goldsland by a Mathew of Llandaff under the manor of Wenvoe in 1583.

Great Brynhill is a small hamlet and farm in the Vale of Glamorgan in south Wales. It consists little more than a few farms including the Little Brynhill Farm and Thorn Falcon Farm (Little Brynhill) and the Great Brynhill Farm. It is located in the historical parish of Merthyr Dyfan and near Colcot now northern districts of the town of Barry. It is accessed via a lane from Port Road (the A4050 road) but can also be accessed from Dyffryn along the lane to the New Wallace Farm and Goldsland which lie just to the northeast. "Bryn" means "hill" in Welsh, so the name literally means "Great hill hill". The Little Brynhill Farm is owned by the Tanner family who are notable milk suppliers in Barry under the company name "W. A. Tanner & Son". One of the farms sold off some of their land along with neighbouring Highlight Farm when Brynhill Golf Club was formed in 1921. According to the Barry & District News, Thorn Falcon Farm sold for £400,000 on 25 November 2005.

Pencoedtre High School, formerly called the Bryn Hafren Comprehensive School, is located in Merthyr Dyfan on the outskirts of the town of Barry near Cardiff in Wales. It was opened in 1971 (Pencoedtre High School in 2018). Pencoedtre was an 11-19 girls' comprehensive school for approximately 1,300 students. But since 2018 the school has mixed and is now a mixed-sex school. It shares a mixed-sex joint 6th form with Barry Comprehensive School, a boys' school (now co-educational under the name 'Whitmore High School', also since 2018).The school's catchment area is the Vale of Glamorgan, stretching from Rhoose in the west to Wenvoe in the north, and to Ely in west Cardiff, with the town of Barry in the centre.

The Wenvoe Arms is a village pub in Wenvoe, in the Vale of Glamorgan, Wales. Dating back to the late 18th century, the pub has been a focal point of the village for many years, and many committee meetings were held here. The pub was bought by S A Brain sometime in the mid 1980s, which was viewed at the time as the final step in the corporatisation of Wales' small rural communities, from its days as a tight-knit farming community, through the population explosion in the 1960s to the present day. A malt house was once located behind the pub.Although the village's population number of a few hundred at the beginning of the 20th century has been vastly augmented, the pub maintains a small and close-knit group of regulars, many of whom have been drinking at the Wenvoe Arms for many years. Every Thursday the pub offers pole dancing and burlesque lessons.

Wenvoe (Welsh: Gwenfô) is a village, community and electoral ward between Barry and Cardiff in the Vale of Glamorgan, Wales. Nearby are the Wenvoe Transmitter near Twyn-yr-Odyn and the site of the former HTV Wales Television Centre at Culverhouse Cross which is now a housing estate. It is home to the Wenvoe Quarry and Wenvoe Castle Golf Club.

The A4050 road connects Barry, Vale of Glamorgan with Culverhouse Cross on the outskirts of Cardiff, Wales. It is approximately 10 miles (16 km) long, and is the key link road between the M4 motorway and Cardiff International Airport. Wenvoe village lies along the road. In 2008 the Welsh Assembly allocated £576,000 to road resurfacing and improvement, which as of 2012 was still ongoing. One area given specific attention is the area around Pencoedtre between Waycock Cross and Barry as housing development and a new crematorium has been created in recent times. At Culverhouse Cross, the A4050 connects to the A48 and the A4232. The A48 links with Cowbridge and to Cowbridge Road West which connects the western Cardiff district of Ely to Canton and the city centre. The A4232 links with the M4 at junction 33 and Cardiff Bay.

St Lythans (Welsh: Llwyneliddon) is an affluent hamlet and former parish in the Vale of Glamorgan, southeast Wales, just outside western Cardiff. It lies southwest of Culverhouse Cross, west of Wenvoe and southwest of Twyn-yr-Odyn and is also connected by road from Dyffryn and the Five Mile Lane in the west. It is one of the wealthiest communities in the Vale of Glamorgan, containing some notable mansions and cottages, valued on average at over £500,000 as of 2011. The megalithic St Lythans burial chamber, over 6000 years old, lies 1 km to the west of the village and the hamlet also contains the St.Lythans Parish Church or Church of St Bleddian, a Grade II* listed building.

Colcot is a northern district of Barry, Vale of Glamorgan, in the Dyfan ward of South Wales. Dyfan ward is situated in the north west of Barry and its most northern edge is on the green belt of the town. Port Road West runs through the ward and is the main route to Cardiff and Cardiff International Airport in Rhoose. Dyfan benefits from a sports centre and Buttrills recreation field and The Barry Hospital can be found on Colcot Road. It also contains the Colcot Primary School, the Colcot Arms pub, the St David's Methodist Church, Coastlands Family Church, a fish and chip shop/Chinese takeaway, Barry Arts Centre and Merthyr Dyfan Cemetery.

Twyn-yr-Odyn (Welsh: Twynyrodyn) is a hamlet in the Vale of Glamorgan, southeast Wales, just beyond the territorial border of western Cardiff. It lies just southwest of Culverhouse Cross, very close to Wenvoe and St Lythans. The Wenvoe Transmitter is located here. It is home to a pub named the Horse and Jockey Inn. There is an allotment in the vicinity.

Wenvoe railway station is a former railway station in Wenvoe in south Wales. It was on the Barry Railway between Creigiau and Cadoxton, which ran broadly north–south through Wenvoe. It had two platforms with passing loops to the south on both the up and down lines for goods and mineral trains to allow passenger trains to pass. To the north of the station was Wenvoe Tunnel, 1 mile and 108 yards long emerging just before Drope Junction. The northern portal is located slightly to the west of the A4232 by-pass.The station closed in 1962 and the line was abandoned six months later. The site of the station buildings and yard is now a private residence and is not accessible to the public.

The St Lythans burial chamber (Welsh: Siambr Gladdu Llwyneliddon) is a single stone megalithic dolmen, built around 4,000 BC as part of a chambered long barrow, during the mid Neolithic period, in what is now known as the Vale of Glamorgan, Wales. It lies about half a mile (1 km) to the west of the hamlet of St Lythans, near Dyffryn Gardens. It also lies around one mile (1.6 km) south of Tinkinswood burial chamber, a more extensive cromlech that it may once have resembled, constructed during the same period. The site is on pasture land, but pedestrian access is allowed and is free, with roadside parking available for 2–3 cars about 50 yards (50 metres) from the site. The dolmen, which has never been fully excavated, is maintained by Cadw, the Welsh Historic Environment Agency.
