Red Hill (Hong Kong)

Tai Tam or Tytam is an area in Southern District on Hong Kong Island, Hong Kong. Tai Tam means a big pool in the Chinese language which illustrates a triangular bay, namely Tai Tam Bay between Stanley Peninsula, D'Aguilar Peak and Tai Tam Tuk ([tàːi tʰȁːm tók̚], lit. innermost of Tai Tam, also known as Tytam Took). The meaning of Tai Tam varies greatly between the early colonial days and the present day.

Hong Kong International School (HKIS) is an international private school with campuses in Tai Tam and Repulse Bay, Hong Kong. The school was founded in 1966. Today, HKIS spans from reception one to the twelfth grade. Its Lower and Upper Primary Divisions are located in Repulse Bay, and the Middle and High Schools are located in Tai Tam. The Western Association of Schools and Colleges has continuously accredited Hong Kong International School since 1971.

Turtle Cove Beach is a gazetted beach in Southern District, Hong Kong, located west of Red Hill (Pak Pat Shan) and east of Stanley. The beach has barbecue pits and is managed by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department of the Hong Kong Government. The beach is rated as Grade 1 by the Environmental Protection Department for its water quality. Being about 73 metres long, it can easily be considered as a "baby beach".

The Tai Tam Waterworks Heritage Trail is a heritage trail in Hong Kong that comprises 22 waterworks structures with historical value near the Tai Tam group of reservoirs. The Trail is about 5 km long and takes about two hours to complete. The Trail is located along the Tai Tam Reservoir Road with entrance at Wong Nai Chung Gap near Hong Kong Parkview or at the junction of Tai Tam Road and Tai Tam Reservoir Road. Ten information stations were established en route to introduce the functions and historic values of the structures. Guided tours will be organised for schools and non-profit making organisations. Entrance (Tai Tam Road): 22°14′22″N 114°13′23″E Entrance (Parkview): 22°15′33″N 114°12′01″E A total of 41 pre-World War II waterworks structures located in six reservoir areas, namely Pok Fu Lam Reservoir, Tai Tam Group of Reservoirs, Wong Nai Chung Reservoir, Kowloon Reservoir, Shing Mun (Jubilee) Reservoir and Aberdeen Reservoir, were declared as monuments in September 2009, to recognise the heritage value of waterworks facilities built in pre-war era. The Trail was established for the declared monuments in the Tai Tam Group of Reservoirs to help the public appreciate the history of water supply and the waterworks structures in Hong Kong. Among the six reservoirs, Wong Nai Chung Reservoir has been converted into a boating park since 1986, while the other reservoirs are still operating.

Redhill Peninsula (Chinese: 紅山半島) is a low rise private housing estate in Tai Tam, Hong Kong. It is built at a round-shaped peninsula situated in Southern District towards Tai Tam Harbour and Turtle Cove. The peninsula includes a 113 metres hill named 'Red Hill'. Redhill Peninsula has been developed by Sino Land and Chinachem into 4 phases that were completed from 1990 to 1992. The houses appear to have been built on three levels.

Tai Tam Harbour (Chinese: 大潭港) is a harbour in the innermost part of Tai Tam Bay in Hong Kong. It is located at the estuary of Tai Tam Tuk. The resited village of Tai Tam Tuk is located at the estuary by the harbour, after construction of Tai Tam Tuk Reservoir. The harbour was once a gathering water of Tanka boat people.Part of the estuary is fully of mangrove.

Tai Tam Road in Hong Kong links the districts of Chai Wan and Stanley on Hong Kong Island. This road connects Chai Wan Road, the northern end of Shek O Road, Turtle Cove, Tai Tam and Stanley. The Tai Tam Tuk Reservoir's dam constitutes a section of the road that is particularly narrow. Tai Tam Road is one of the two roads that links Tai Tam and the urban district. The other road is Repulse Bay Road.

Shek O Road (Chinese: 石澳道) is a road in the Southern District of Hong Kong Island, Hong Kong. The road links Tai Tam Road near Tai Tam Gap and Chai Wan to Shek O Village in the southeast. It is widely known as a scenic drive, with views of the South China Sea.

Hairpin Beach or Hair Pin Beach is a gazetted beach located north of Stanley Main Beach in the eastern coast of Stanley peninsula, Southern District, Hong Kong. The beach has barbecue pits and is managed by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department of the Hong Kong Government. The beach did not get its grading and it is currently not open for swimming as no lifeguard facilities are available. The beach offers views of Shek O Peak as well as D'Aguilar Peak.

Shek O Country Park is a rural marine park located on Shek O, Southern District, Hong Kong and facing the South China Sea. The 701-hectare park opened on 21 September 1979. Urban hiking is extremely popular here, there are three exceptional hiking trails, one of which Time Magazine Asia declared the best urban hiking trail in Asia, the Dragon's Back.The spider species Uroballus carlei was discovered at this park.

The Dragon's Back (Chinese: 龍脊) is a mountain ridge in southeastern Hong Kong Island, Hong Kong that passes through Shek O Peak. It lies within the Shek O Country Park. In 2019, the Dragon's Back Trail was selected by CNN as one of the world's 23 best trails. Dragon's Back is part of Stage 8 of the Hong Kong Trail.

Tai Tam Intermediate Reservoir, part of the Tai Tam Reservoirs, is a reservoir in Tai Tam Country Park, Tai Tam, Hong Kong Island, Hong Kong and has a water storage capacity of 19.6 million gallons. The reservoir was completed in 1907.The reservoir can be accessed by the Tai Tam Waterworks Heritage Trail.The reservoir is still in operation and the dam was constructed in slope style. Its dam and the valve house built at the centre of the dam are listed as declared monuments in September 2009.
