Bonnyton is a rural area of Old Rayne in the Garioch area of Aberdeenshire, Scotland.Bonnyton is a small secluded hamlet comprising seven houses, at the end of a no through road. Elevation approx. 500 feet. South facing views towards the Bennachie range. It is situated a mile and half from the Main A96 Aberdeen/Inverness trunk road. The local village with shops is at Insch It is surrounded by the farms of Loanhead, Lathries, Oxenloan and St Cloud. A caravan site is situated in the area.

The River Urie (or River Ury) (Scottish Gaelic: Uaraidh / Ùraidh) is a small river in northeastern Scotland situated in the Garioch area of Aberdeenshire. Its origins are close to Bennachie, approximately 25 miles to the northwest of Aberdeen. The river runs for approximately 15 miles before meeting the River Don at the south edge of Inverurie. Its main tributary is the Gadie Burn. Fishing permits are available for salmon and trout.The Ordnance Survey use the name "River Urie" and this spelling is often used, possibly because of the association with Inverurie (which was itself spelled Inverury until the nineteenth century). Local people usually prefer the spelling "Ury" which is generally used by Aberdeenshire Council.

Wartle railway station was a railway station that served local farms and the nearby hamlet of Meikle Wartle, Aberdeenshire. It was opened in 1857 by the Banff, Macduff and Turriff Junction Railway, later part of the Great North of Scotland Railway, then the LNER and finally British Railways, on the 29+3⁄4-mile (47.9 km) long branchline from Inveramsay to Macduff. The station closed to regular passenger services in 1951 and to goods traffic in 1964.
