Marinha Grande (Portuguese pronunciation: [mɐˈɾiɲɐ ˈɣɾɐ̃dɨ] ) is a municipality in the Leiria District, Portugal. The population in 2021 was 39,032, in an area of 187.25 km². The city itself has a population of 32,330. It is located right in the middle of the 700-year-old Leiria pine forest covering 100 square kilometres, and near excellent beaches such as Praia da Vieira, Nazaré, and São Pedro de Moel. The present Mayor is Aurélio Ferreira, elected by the independent movement +MPM, a coalition formed by MPM and +Concelho. The municipal holiday is Ascension Day.

Estádio Municipal da Marinha Grande is a football stadium in Marinha Grande, Portugal. It hosts football matches for Atlético Clube Marinhense and hosted the home matches of U.D. Leiria in 2002-03 when Estádio Dr. Magalhães Pessoa was being renovated. The stadium is able to hold 6,000 people and opened in 1992. In 2011–12, U.D. Leiria relocated again to Marinha Grande for 3 years, claiming excessive rent at Estádio Dr. Magalhães Pessoa, after it was relegated, the deal was abandoned and U.D. Leiria moved to Campo da Portela in Santa Catarina da Serra.

Pinhal Litoral (Portuguese pronunciation: [piˈɲal lituˈɾal]) is a former NUTS3 subregion of Portugal integrating the Centro Region. It was abolished at the January 2015 NUTS 3 revision. It covered an area of 1,741 km2, a population of 261,665 (as of 2005) and a density of 150 inhabitants/km2. It has a diversified economic activity, mainly glass, plastics, wood and agriculture.

Monte Real Air Base, officially designated as Air Force Base No. 5 (Portuguese: Base Aérea Nº 5, BA5), is a Portuguese Air Force (PoAF) air base located in Monte Real, Leiria, Portugal. Its mission is to guarantee the readiness and deployment of the air force units based there. Since its opening in October 1959, the base has been home to the air force's jet fighter aircraft, with several of the units based there being equipped with F-86F Sabre, Fiat G.91, T-33 Shooting Star, T-38 Talon and A-7 Corsair II aircraft. The base is currently home to two F-16 Fighting Falcon squadrons.

Monte Real is a town (vila in Portuguese) and a former civil parish in the municipality of Leiria, Portugal. In 2013, the parish merged into the new parish Monte Real e Carvide. It covers an area of 12.23 km2 and has a population of 2,778 people. Monte Real, which in English means Royal Mount, was once a municipality (pt: concelho), before being annexed to Leiria municipality. Monte Real hosts an air base (base aérea), Monte Real Air Base for the Portuguese Air Force. Monte Real is also known for its hot springs, (Termas de Monte Real).

The Penedo da Saudade Lighthouse (Portuguese: Farol do Penedo da Saudade) is located on the Atlantic coast in São Pedro de Moel, District of Leiria, Portugal. The functioning lighthouse was built in 1912 and takes its name from the cliff on which it was constructed.The quadrangular tower is constructed of stone and masonry walls covered by brick tiles, and contains a spiral staircase. It is 32 metres high and the base is at 55 metres above sea level. The location was chosen to be approximately halfway between Berlenga Lighthouse to the south and Cabo Mondego Lighthouse to the north. Originally identified as being necessary during a survey in 1866, the location was not formally agreed until 1902 and construction did not begin until 1909. The Penedo da Saudade lighthouse started operations on February 15, 1912. At that time it was equipped with a rotating 3rd–order optical device with a 500mm focal length and the light was fuelled by oil vapour.From March 1916 to December 1919 the light was extinguished due to World War I. From March to July 1921 it was also inactive as the lighting system was moved to the new Cape Mondego Lighthouse and was replaced by another 3rd–order device. At this time some improvements were also made to the tower and further changes were made in 1937. Generators were installed in 1947, necessitating construction of an engine house. Aeromarine panels were added in 1950. The lighthouse was not connected to the public grid until 1980, when an automation system was also installed. In 1947 the white lamp was 6000 watts but has progressively been reduced to one of 1000 watts. Technical difficulties were experienced in 1983 as a result of damage caused by a thunderstorm.The lighthouse can be visited on Wednesday afternoons.

São Pedro de Moel is a beach community dependent on the city, freguesia and municipality of Marinha Grande in the District of Leiria, Portugal. According to the 2011 Portuguese Census, it has 389 inhabitants. It is located within the Pinhal de Leiria, south of the mouth of Ribeira de Moel. It is a seaside village, west of the cities of Marinha Grande and Leiria. In 146,3 Afonso V gave São Pedro de Moel to the Count of Vila Real. The family had a palace in Leiria and several houses in São Pedro de Moel. They lived on this beach until 1641, when the last Marquis of Vila Real and his son, Duke of Caminha, were executed. The widowed Duquesa de Caminha mourned the death of her husband on a rocky outcrop overlooking the ocean, which is named in his honour - Penedo da Saudade - at the top of which there is a lighthouse of the same name. The legend of the Duquesa de Caminha also claims that the rock still resonates with her lament. Overlooking the beach is the home of the poet Afonso Lopes Vieira which includes a chapel overlooking the ocean and a sun-clock. The house was donated by the poet to the City of Marinha Grande for use as a resort for local children. Nowadays it is also used as a museum. In the 19th century São Pedro de Moel was the location of a thriving resin factory, using the resources of the abundant local pine forests. The entire beach was originally part of the Portuguese Mata Nacional do Pinhal do Rei, but in 1923 was reorganised into the Marinha Grande município. It is denoted by a central statue of King Dinis and Queen Santa Isabel. Points of interest include Praia Velha, Praia da Concha, Penedo da Saudade and its lighthouse, and Ribeira de Moel, all slightly to the north. In the pine forests there are several parks. The Volta dos Sete ("Around the Seven") is a beautiful route running for approximately 7 km, passing sea, beaches, pine forest, parks, fountains and streams.

The Leiria Football Association (Portuguese: Associação de Futebol de Leiria) is one of the 22 District Football Associations that are affiliated with the Portuguese Football Federation. The AF Leiria administers lower-tier football in the district of Leiria.On 5 January 2014 Leiria FA won the Portuguese Regions Cup and will represent Portugal in the 2015 UEFA Regions' Cup, starting in September 2014.

The Estádio Dr. Magalhães Pessoa (English: Dr. Magalhães Pessoa Stadium) is a football stadium in Leiria, Portugal, built as a venue for the UEFA Euro 2004 finals held in Portugal. It is the home for Leiria's main football club, União de Leiria. It was designed by Tomás Taveira in 2003. The stadium contains different coloured seats as well as an athletics track and has a capacity of 24 000 (22 000 used). The stadium has also hosted the Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira (the Portuguese Super Cup) in 2006 and 2007 and the final of the league cup Taça da Liga in 2009, 2021, 2022 and 2023.

Monte Real e Carvide is a civil parish in the municipality of Leiria, Portugal. It was formed in 2013 by the merger of the former parishes Monte Real and Carvide. The population in 2011 was 5,756, in an area of 26.03 km².
