Western Hills High School is a 9–12 secondary school in Frankfort, Kentucky. It is the more recently constructed of the two high schools in the Franklin County Public Schools district, having opened to students in 1979. The first student body selected the Warrior as the mascot, as the feeding middle school's mascot is the Brave. However, that majority vote was overruled during that vote by the school's future first principal and the Wolverine became the mascot. There is a strong rivalry with Franklin County High School, the older school in the district.

Stewart Home & School is a residential school in Franklin County, Kentucky serving individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities. The school was established by Dr. John Q. A. Stewart in 1893 on the former site of Kentucky Military Institute on Lawrenceburg Road, five miles southeast of Frankfort. The school has been in continuous operation by five generations of the Stewart family, and was placed on the United States National Register of Historic Places June 3, 1976.

Licensed to Frankfort, Kentucky, the station serves the capital city of Kentucky and parts of the nearby Lexington metropolitan area. The station is owned by CapCity Communications. Its programming is simulcast on translator station W228CL (93.5 FM).

Choateville is an unincorporated community on the western side of Franklin County, Kentucky along Kentucky Highway 1005 and Benson Creek. It is also a Census Designated Place (2629590). It currently has an elementary school of the Franklin County Public Schools, store, Baptist church, Christian church, and a Ruritan Club.Albert Lee Ueltschi attended a one room school in Choateville for four years before moving to Frankfort.

Licensed to Frankfort, Kentucky, it primarily serves the Frankfort area (between Shelbyville and Lexington), but can be heard in much of the Lexington area. The station is owned by CapCity Communications and licensed to Southern Belle, LLC.

Alton is an unincorporated community located in Anderson County, Kentucky, United States. Its post office is closed. The community was originally known as Rough and Ready after the nickname of United States President Zachary Taylor. The town was incorporated under this name in 1850.

Stringtown is an unincorporated community in Anderson County, Kentucky, US, with a population of 200 people, and an elevation of 840 feet.

The Berry Mansion was built in Frankfort, Kentucky, in 1900 by George Franklin Berry. It is located on a hill just west of downtown that overlooks the state capitol building.The 200-acre (0.81 km2) estate surrounding the home was named "Juniper Hill" after the red cedar trees (Juniperus virginiana) located on the property.

The floral clock in Frankfort, Kentucky, is a landmark located behind the Kentucky State Capitol. Dedicated in May 1961 by Governor Bert T. Combs, the clock was constructed as a joint project between the state government and the Garden Club of Kentucky.

The Kentucky State Capitol is located in Frankfort and is the house of the three branches (executive, legislative, judicial) of the state government of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
