The Université catholique de Lille (also known as the Catholic University of Lille), also « University and Polytechnic Federation of Lille » is a private collegiate university of Catholic-inspired institutions established in 1875. The university comprises five faculties, 20 schools and institutes, research centers, and a hospital, with a cumulative student body of 36,700 in 2021. Although an article of the French Code of Education (L731-14) prohibits private institutes from calling themselves “Universities”, the federation calls itself “Université catholique de Lille" or "Catholic University of Lille”. It is under this name that it improperly communicates, both in France and abroad. It should not be confused with the University of Lille.

The Saint-Joseph Chapel was a historic church on the grounds of Saint-Paul College in Lille, France. It was built in 1887, and was demolished in February 2021 to build a new campus.

HEI Lille or École des Hautes Études d’Ingénieur (French for School of High Studies in Engineering) is a private school of engineering located in Lille, France, member of Lille Catholic University and a French Grande École. The school trains students during five years and delivers the diploma of Ingénieur (equivalent of a master's degree). The diploma is approved both by the State and the CTI. HEI is a member of the Conference des Grandes Ecoles (CGE) guaranteeing the teaching and selectivity in admissions. In 2019, the school is ranked n°3 by Eduniversal among post baccalaureate training programs of general engineering in France.

The Jardin botanique Nicolas Boulay is a botanical garden operated by the Faculty of Medicine at the Université Catholique de Lille, Lille, Nord, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France. The garden is named in honor of Abbé Jean-Nicolas Boulay (1837-1905), and is one of three botanical gardens in Lille, the others being the Jardin des Plantes de Lille and the Jardin botanique de la Faculté de Pharmacie at the Université de Lille 2.

The Citadel of Lille (French: Citadelle de Lille; Dutch: Citadel van Rijsel) is a pentagonal citadel of the city wall of Lille, in France. It was built between 1667 and 1670. It hosts the Corps de réaction rapide France.Dubbed "Queen of the citadels" (Reine des citadelles) by Vauban, it is one of the most notable citadels designed by Vauban. It is remarkable for its size, the quality of the architecture, and the state of preservation today. Its various components have been classified as historic monuments in 1914, 1921 and 1934 respectively.

Located in six cities in France, Institut catholique d'arts et métiers is a Graduate Engineering school created in 1898. It is one of the grandes écoles part of Toulouse Tech.Its different curricula lead to the following French & European degrees : Ingénieur ICAM (ICAM Graduate engineer Masters level program) Master of Science & PhD doctorate studies Mastères Spécialisés (MS) (Specialized Masters)Academic activities and industrial applied research are performed mainly in French and English languages. Students from a dozen nationalities participate in the different curricula at ICAM.Most of the 4,500 graduate engineer students at ICAM live in dedicated residential buildings nearby research labs and metro public transports.

Wazemmes is a former commune in the Nord department in northern France, merged into Lille in 1858. It is a cosmopolitan neighborhood, with a significant population of Chinese immigrants.

The Maison Folie Wazemmes is a cultural facility of the City of Lille, opened on the occasion of the Lille 2004 event, European Capital of Culture. This former textile mill was rehabilitated by the Dutch agency Nox and the architect Lars Spuybroek accompanied by Ducks Scéno (Stylized as dUCKS scéno) is a French company based in Villeurbanne specializing in scenography and museography. for the design of the scenography of the 250-seat auditorium and the recording studio and Flanders Analyzes for the acoustic studies, to become in 2004, the house Folie Wazemmes.

Stade Grimonprez-Jooris was a multi-purpose stadium in Lille, France, built in 1974. It was used mainly for football matches as it was home to the Lille OSC football club from 1975 until 2004, when the stadium was closed. The club originally planned to have Grimonprez-Jooris redeveloped into a 33,000-seat stadium, but this proposal was rejected, and the Grand Stade Lille Métropole was constructed instead. The stadium was officially opened on 28 October 1975, when Lille played a friendly against Dutch side Feyenoord (which ended in a 1–1 draw) and the last match at the stadium was played on 15 May 2004, Lille's last home game in the 2003–04 Ligue 1 season against SC Bastia. Lille won the game 2–0 with Matt Moussilou scoring the last goal in the history of Grimonprez-Jooris.

The siege of Lille took place during the War of Devolution. Louis XIV's forces besieged Lille from 10 August to 26 September 1667. It was the only major engagement of the war. Lille was the first major victory for Vauban’s siege techniques. Louis XIV, arguing that the Spanish dowry of his wife Maria Theresa of Spain had not been paid, began to expand French borders to the north and east, invading the Spanish Netherlands. This began a conflict with Spain that became the War of Devolution. After taking Charleroi, Tournai and Douai, French troops laid siege to Lille, at that time part of the county of Flanders under Spanish rule. Siege techniques applied by the French military engineer Vauban were instrumental in their capture.

Stade Henri-Jooris was a sports stadium in Lille, France. The stadium, used mostly for football matches was able to hold 15,000 people and was home stadium of Olympique Lillois and Lille OSC. Originally it was known as Stade de l'avenue de Dunkerque; from 1907 to 1943, the stadium's name was the Stade Victor Boucquey. That year it was renamed after the former president of Olympique Lillois Henri-Jooris (who died four years before). The stadium suffered a roof collapse during the Lens-Lille derby in February 1946. 53 spectators were injured as the structure partially collapsed during a 19th minute counterattack. The game was only delayed 20 minutes.During the 1938 World Cup, it hosted one game.
