Trans World Airlines (TWA) Flight 553 was a McDonnell Douglas DC-9-15 jet airliner, registration N1063T, operated by Trans World Airlines on March 9, 1967 between Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Dayton, Ohio. While descending toward Dayton about 29 miles (25 nmi; 47 km) from the airport, the flight collided in midair with a Beechcraft Baron, a small, general-aviation airplane, near Urbana, Ohio. All 25 aboard the DC-9 and the sole occupant of the Beechcraft were killed.

The Champaign Aviation Museum is an aviation museum in Urbana, Ohio. It is situated on the north end of Grimes Field municipal airport, roughly a mile from central Urbana. The museum is known primarily for its ongoing restoration of a B-17 Flying Fortress to flying condition. It is also a component of the National Aviation Heritage Area, a federally designated heritage area primarily centered around sites pertaining to the Wright brothers.

Nutwood Place is a historic farm complex on the northern edge of Urbana, Ohio, United States. Today composed of the farmhouse, a round barn, and a small amount of former fields, the farm has been owned by some of Urbana's leading families. Colonel William Ward, the founder of Urbana and the farm's original owner,: 120  built the farmhouse in 1815. At this time, he owned 160 acres (65 ha) of land north of the village of Urbana; there he established his farm under the name of "Nutwood Place," where he lived until his 1822 death.: 121 Commercial hatter Absalom Jennings of New York City bought the farm in 1856, but he waited three years before taking up residence there. Here he remained for the rest of his life, breeding horses and cattle. Under his direction, the brick round barn was erected in 1861.: 121 In 1976, Nutwood Place was added to the National Register of Historic Places because of its well-preserved historic architecture. It is one of eight places listed on the National Register in Urbana.

Eris is an unincorporated community in Champaign County, in the U.S. state of Ohio.

Urbana is a city in and the county seat of Champaign County, Ohio, United States, about 34 miles (55 km) northeast of Dayton and 41 miles (66 km) west of Columbus. The population was 11,115 at the 2020 census. It is the principal city of the Urbana micropolitan area. Urbana was laid out in 1805, and for a time in 1812 was the headquarters of the Northwestern army during the War of 1812. It is the burial place of the explorer and Indian fighter Simon Kenton. The city was home to Urbana University and Curry Normal and Industrial Institute, a school for African American students.

Urbana High School (UHS) is a public high school in Urbana, Ohio, United States, serving students in grades nine through 12. It is the only high school in the Urbana City School District and had a student enrollment of 509 in 2015–16. Athletic teams are known as the Hillclimbers and the school colors are maroon and white. UHS was rated as Excellent by the Ohio Department of Education in 2011 and 2012.
