Nutwood Place is a historic farm complex on the northern edge of Urbana, Ohio, United States. Today composed of the farmhouse, a round barn, and a small amount of former fields, the farm has been owned by some of Urbana's leading families. Colonel William Ward, the founder of Urbana and the farm's original owner,: 120  built the farmhouse in 1815. At this time, he owned 160 acres (65 ha) of land north of the village of Urbana; there he established his farm under the name of "Nutwood Place," where he lived until his 1822 death.: 121 Commercial hatter Absalom Jennings of New York City bought the farm in 1856, but he waited three years before taking up residence there. Here he remained for the rest of his life, breeding horses and cattle. Under his direction, the brick round barn was erected in 1861.: 121 In 1976, Nutwood Place was added to the National Register of Historic Places because of its well-preserved historic architecture. It is one of eight places listed on the National Register in Urbana.

Champaign County is a county located in the U.S. state of Ohio. As of the 2020 census, the population was 38,714. Its county seat and largest city is Urbana. The county takes its name from the French word for "open level country". Champaign County became the 18th of 88 Ohio counties on March 1, 1805. It was formed from parts of Greene and Franklin counties by legislative action.Champaign County comprises the Urbana, OH Micropolitan Statistical Area, which is also included in the Dayton–Springfield–Sidney, OH Combined Statistical Area.

Urbana High School (UHS) is a public high school in Urbana, Ohio, United States, serving students in grades nine through 12. It is the only high school in the Urbana City School District and had a student enrollment of 509 in 2015–16. Athletic teams are known as the Hillclimbers and the school colors are maroon and white. UHS was rated as Excellent by the Ohio Department of Education in 2011 and 2012.

Urbana Junior High School located at 500 Washington Ave, Urbana, Ohio, on top of the "hill" as the locals say. It is located between Washington Ave. and Carson Street. It is one of 6 schools in the Urbana City School District, the other schools in the Urbana City Schools district are North elementary, South elementary, East elementary, Local intermediate, and Urbana High School. It is the only feeder school for Urbana High School Urbana Junior High was rated Excellent by the Ohio Department of Education for the 2010–2011, and 2011-2012 school years. Currently grades 7 and 8 attend Urbana Junior High School. It was announced at the April 21st, 2012 Board of Education meeting that Urbana Local would be closing at the end of the 2012–2013 school year and Urbana Junior High will house grades 6–8. This was part of a 1.1 million dollar cost saving measure instituted by Urbana City Schools to help balance the 2013-2014 school budget. The current principal is Joanne Petty. She began her principalship in August 2012 upon the request of Urbana City Schools Superintendent, Mr. Charles Thiel. Mrs. Petty was formerly the Principal of Urbana Local Elementary (grades 5 and 6). Mr. Greg Stickel proceeded Mrs. Petty in guiding Urbana Junior High. Mr. Stickel was principal from 2009 to 2012. Greg Stickel is currently the principal at West Muskingum Middle School in Ohio. Mr Stickel assumed the principal duties from Kris Mays in the summer of 2009 as Kris Mays was assigned to Urbana High School Principal. The students of Urbana Junior High have the opportunity to participate in a variety of extracurricular activities. The sports teams participate under the guidelines established by the Ohio High School Athletic Association. Urbana Junior High currently offers football, volleyball, boys and girls basketball, wrestling, cheer leading, and track.

Urbana is a city in and the county seat of Champaign County, Ohio, United States, about 34 miles (55 km) northeast of Dayton and 41 miles (66 km) west of Columbus. The population was 11,115 at the 2020 census. It is the principal city of the Urbana micropolitan area. Urbana was laid out in 1805, and for a time in 1812 was the headquarters of the Northwestern army during the War of 1812. It is the burial place of the explorer and Indian fighter Simon Kenton. The city was home to Urbana University and Curry Normal and Industrial Institute, a school for African American students.

The Urbana Monument Square Historic District is a historic district at the center of Urbana, Ohio, United States. Since Urbana's earliest days, this portion of the city has been a public square in the heart of the city's business district. Among the buildings in the district are examples of the Federal, Georgian, Italianate, Richardsonian Romanesque, and Second Empire styles of architecture. In 1984, the district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places because of its architecture and its contribution to local history. Approximately 25 acres (10 ha) are included within the landmarked area, which is composed of 66 contributing properties, and which also includes 13 non-contributing properties.

The Dr. Adam Mosgrove House is a historic house in Urbana, Ohio, United States. Located along Miami Street (U.S. Route 36) on the city's western side, it was built in 1833 as the home of physician Adam Mosgrove, one of Urbana's first doctors. A native of Enniskillen in Ireland, Mosgrove immigrated to the United States in 1816; he moved to Urbana after living in Elizabethtown and Lancaster, Ohio.: 120 A two-and-one-half-story structure, the brick house is a simple rectangle built upon a stone foundation.: 120  Its style is predominantly Federal, although the entrance is strongly Greek Revival,: 119  featuring pilasters topped with Doric capitals.: 120  As one of Urbana's oldest houses,: 119  and as the home of one of its leading early citizens, the Mosgrove House has been seen as historically significant;: 120  for this reason, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

St. Paul's African Methodist Episcopal Church is a historic church in Urbana, Ohio, United States. Built in the Greek Revival style in 1876, it is home to a congregation that was founded in the mid-1820s.

The Richards-Sewall House is a historic house in Urbana, Ohio, United States. Located along College Street on the city's western side, it was built in 1853 in a combination of the Queen Anne, Stick/Eastlake, and Gothic Revival architectural styles. Although it was built as and is currently used as a single residence, the house has also been used as a dormitory. Its most significant resident was Frank Sewall, president of what is now Urbana University during the 1870s. A native of Maine, Sewall was a minister of the New Church who moved to Urbana upon being elected to the presidency in 1870. In addition to his position as college president, Sewall taught a range of courses at the college and served as the pastor of the New Church congregation in Urbana. While living in Urbana, Sewall served as president of the church's Ohio governing body, published multiple books, and chaired the church's board of missions.In 1995, the Richards-Sewall House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It qualified for addition to the Register both because of its connection to Sewall and its contribution to broad patterns of American history.

The John Q.A. Ward House is a historic house in Urbana, Ohio, United States. Located along College Street on the city's western side, it was built in 1820 by Colonel William Ward, the founder of Urbana, as a wedding present for his son, John Anderson Ward. John lived in the house until his death in 1855.John A. Ward's son, John Quincy Adams Ward, is the namesake of the house. A sculptor, Ward was known for multiple carvings of the Marquis de Lafayette, George Washington, and Oliver Hazard Perry.The Ward House is historically significant for its early architecture. Based on a stone foundation, the brick house is a two-story structure built in an "L" plan. This well-preserved architecture, together with its connection to John Q.A. Ward, led to the house's addition to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.

Urbana Township is one of the twelve townships of Champaign County, Ohio, United States. The 2020 census reported 14,119 people living in the township.

The Urbana College Historic Buildings are a historic district on the campus of Urbana University in Urbana, Ohio, United States. Composed of three nineteenth-century buildings, the district includes the oldest structures on the university's campus.
