English Frankton

North Shropshire is a constituency in the county of Shropshire, represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament by Helen Morgan of the Liberal Democrats after a by-election on 16 December 2021. The former MP, Owen Paterson of the Conservatives, resigned his seat on 5 November 2021 when faced with suspension from the Commons for a breach of advocacy rules and the consequent possibility of a recall petition. The seat had previously been a safe seat for the Conservatives.

Loppington is a village and parish in Shropshire, England, situated a few miles west of Wem. The population of the parish (2001) is 576 and there are 206 households. The population as of the 2011 census was 611. Loppington was recorded in the Domesday Book as Lopitone. It has a rich history and many historical buildings, including the Church of Saint Michael, dating back to the 14th century and having traces of a Norman building with characteristic Norman architecture. Other interesting buildings are The Nook a timber-framed house near to the church, and Loppington Hall, an early 18th-century brick house, a former residence of John Lloyd Dickin restored in 2002. The village has the only remaining bull ring in North Shropshire, which was reported to be used for bull baiting until the 19th century.

Lyneal is a small village in the civil parish of Welshampton and Lyneal, in Shropshire, England. Its earliest recorded name was Lunval. It has also been known as Lineal. John Bartholomew described it in 1887 in an entry in his Gazetteer of the British Isles thus: "Lineal cum Colemere, eccl. dist., Ellesmere and Welsh Hampton pars., Shropshire, pop. 367; contains Lineal, hamlet, 3 miles S.E. of Ellesmere; P.O., called Lyneal." It was formerly part of the parish of Lyneal cum Colemere. According to Edward Cassey and Co.'s 1871 History, Gazetteer, and Directory of Shropshire, "LYNEAL CUM COLEMERE are two villages and townships forming a new parish recently taken out of the parish of Ellesmere. The church is a beautiful specimen of Gothic architecture on a small scale. It was built at a cost of about 2,500 by Lady Marian Alford as a memorial church to her son the late Earl Brownlow it is dedicated to St John the Evangelist and will afford sitting accommodation to 220 persons the seats are all free The living is a vicarage value 164 per annum in the gift of Earl Brownlow and held by the Rev R Lundin Brown MA. The village of COLEMERE is nearly three miles cast by south from Ellesmere. The township contains 1,440 acres of land the property of Earl Brownlow. LYNEAL is a township and village three miles south east from Ellesmere. The township contains 1,897 acres of land. Wyneal Wood is a farm in the occupation of Mr Andrew Bickley. At Lyneal there is a school for boys and girls." The nearby St John the Evangelist Church Lyneal with Colemere has a memorial to the dead of World War I, recording the names of 11 men who died from the ecclesiastical parish of Lyneal with Colemere.

The A528 is a road that runs from Marchwiel, near Wrexham, in North Wales (53.0225°N 2.9597°W / 53.0225; -2.9597 (A528 road (northern end))), to Shrewsbury, Shropshire, in England (52.7128°N 2.7512°W / 52.7128; -2.7512 (A528 road (southern end))). On the way it passes through Ellesmere and Coton Hill. The road follows an old route that was Turnpiked in the 18th century.

Bettisfield (Welsh: Llys Bedydd; standardised: Bettisfield) is a village of about 150 dwellings in Wrexham County Borough, Wales and stands on the Wales-England border, and in the community of Maelor South. It lies south of the Llangollen Canal on the border with Shropshire, England within the historic English Maelor region which was formerly part of the historic county of Flintshire. The village lies close to Fenn's, Whixall and Bettisfield Mosses, an area of peat bog which was declared a national nature reserve in 1996 because of its importance for wildlife. The English market towns of Whitchurch, Ellesmere and Wem each lie about 6 miles distant to the northeast, west and southeast respectively. It is described in the Domesday book (1086) within the Cheshire Hundred of Dudeston, recording 28 households and a value to Lord Edwin in 1066 of £18 9s, reducing to £3 in 1086.The village no longer has a shop, post office, pub, smithy or baker.Politician and poet John Hanmer, 1st Baron Hanmer (1809-1881) is buried in Bettisfield churchyard.

Welshampton is a small village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Welshampton and Lyneal, in the Shropshire district, in the ceremonial county of Shropshire, England. It is located on the A495 road, near to the town of Ellesmere. It is adjacent to the villages of Lyneal and Colemere which comprise part of the so-called 'North Shropshire Lake District', all of which is within walking distance of Welshampton. At the 2001 Census, the Welshampton and Lyneal civil parish had a population of 839, increasing to 852 at the 2011 Census. with a total population of 3,896 (2001) for the Ellesmere and Welshampton ward.
