The Grand Prix du Mardi Gras was an IMSA GT Championship street race held in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1991, 1992 and 1995.The 1991 IMSA GTP/Lights race was held on June 16, 1991 using a 1.300 mi (2.092 km) circuit near the Mississippi River. The winner of 105.30 mi (169.46 km) 81 lap race was Wayne Taylor with Geoff Brabham finishing second and Jeff Purner and Tim McAdam finishing tied for 3rd place.On June 14, 1992, the IMSA GTP/Lights street race was moved to a 1.430 mi (2.301 km) circuit around the Louisiana Superdome. The winner of 127.27 mi (204.82 km) 89 lap race was Juan Fangio II with Geoff Brabham and P.J. Jones finishing 2nd and 3rd.In 1995, the Grand Prix du Mardi Gras IMSA GTS-2 street race was run on the 1.430 mi (2.301 km) circuit around the Louisiana Superdome on October 8. The winner of the 41.47 mi (66.74 km) 29 lap race was Bill Auberlen with Kevin Buckler and Jorge Trejos finishing 2nd and 3rd. This would be the last major race in the New Orleans area until the 2015 Indy Grand Prix of Louisiana at NOLA Motorsports Park.

Smoothie King Center (locally referred to as SKC) is a multi-purpose indoor arena in New Orleans, Louisiana. It is located in the city's Central Business District, adjacent to Caesars Superdome. The arena opened in 1999 as New Orleans Arena and has been home to the New Orleans Pelicans of the National Basketball Association (NBA) since 2002. The New Orleans VooDoo of the Arena Football League played their home games in the arena from 2004 until the team disbanded in 2008. The VooDoo resumed play at the arena in March 2011, until after the 2015 AFL season when the franchise folded.

1615 Poydras, also known as DXC Technology Center, and formerly known as the Freeport McMoRan building, is a 23-story, 276-foot (84 m)-tall skyscraper office building. It is located at 1615 Poydras Street, in the Central Business District of New Orleans, Louisiana.

The Girod Street Cemetery (also known as the Protestant Cemetery), was a large above-ground cemetery that resided in central New Orleans, Louisiana, established in 1822 for Protestant residents of the Faubourg St. Mary and was closed down in the 1940s. The cemetery then remained unused, until it was officially torn down on January 4, 1957.

Benson Tower (formerly Dominion Tower and the CNG Tower), located at 1450 Poydras Street in the Central Business District of New Orleans, Louisiana, is a 26-story, 406 feet (124 m)-tall skyscraper. The building was purchased by late New Orleans Saints owner Tom Benson on September 15, 2009 and renamed the Benson Tower. In 2012, Ochsner Health System moved executives and as many as 750 administrative employees to the top four floors as well as the 2nd and 3rd floor space with balconies overlooking Champions Square and the Caesars Superdome; second floor space is utilized for Benson's television station, Fox affiliate WVUE (Channel 8) for the station's morning newscast, sporting events and by lease for other parties. According to Corporate Realty, which leases the 487,760 sq ft (45,314 m2) building, as of August 2012, Benson Tower is more than 97.6% leased.

Champions Square is an outdoor festival plaza located adjacent to Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana. It is known as the premier tailgating space for sports events held at the stadium and the nearby Smoothie King Center. The plaza also consists of an outdoor amphitheater, known as Bold Sphere Music (often referred to as "Blue Sphere Stage"). The venue was reopened April 25, 2014, with a concert by Lana Del Rey.The amphitheater has seating for up to 9,000 spectators for special events, 7,000 in a general admission setting and 4,500 for reseated seating.

The John Minor Wisdom U.S. Court of Appeals Building, located at 600 Camp Street in New Orleans, Louisiana, is a historic courthouse for the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. In 2015 it was designated a National Historic Landmark for its extensive role in adjudicating issues of the American Civil Rights Movement of the 1950s and 1960s. John Minor Wisdom, for whom it is now named, was a judge on the Fifth Circuit during that period.

Orleans Tower (formerly Amoco Building), located at 1340 Poydras Street in the Central Business District of New Orleans, Louisiana, is a 20-story, 280 feet (85 m)-tall skyscraper designed in the international style by 3D/International. The international style grew in popularity during the sixties and seventies after the architect Mies Van Der Rohe designed the Seagram Building on Park Ave in New York City and Skidmore, Owings, and Merrill designed the Sears Tower in the heart of downtown Chicago. The building is primarily used for leaseable office space, with some retail space on the ground level. The design of the building can be best classified as international with its black aluminum and glass curtain wall. The building currently houses the offices of several city and state agencies, including the Orleans Parish District Attorney's Office. Orleans Tower is currently the 28th tallest building in New Orleans.

1250 Poydras Plaza (also known as the Eni Building and formerly the Mobil Building), is a high-rise international-style office building located at 1250 Poydras Street in the Central Business District of New Orleans, Louisiana. It has 24 stories, and stands at a height of 342 feet (104 m). In June 2010, the Unified Command moved its headquarters from the Dutch Royal Shell Conference Center in Robert, Louisiana, to the building to deal with the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.

MechaCon was an annual three-day anime convention held during the summer at the Hyatt Regency New Orleans in New Orleans, Louisiana. It was the oldest active anime convention in Louisiana.

The Hyatt Regency New Orleans is a 32-story, 361-foot (110 m)-tall hotel located at 601 Loyola Ave in the Central Business District of New Orleans, Louisiana. It has 1,193 guest rooms, including 95 suites. It is part of a complex of connected buildings, which includes the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, 1250 Poydras Plaza, Entergy Tower, and the Benson Tower. Originally opened in 1976, it was designed by Welton Becket and Associates. The Hyatt was severely damaged by Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and remained closed for six years, until 2011.
