Jenzig

Jena-Zwätzen station is a railway station in Jena, Thuringia, Germany. It is a small, unmanned station on the Großheringen - Saalfeld railway. The route and the stations were established in 1871. At the time, Zwätzen was an independent village with a monastery. Nowadays, it is part of Jena and has 3100 inhabitants. The two platforms of the station are wheelchair-accessible. There is no station building. The closest connection to long-distance trains starts in Jena Paradies, 5km south of Zwätzen. Travellers can use either local trains, or bus and tram connections stopping near the station.

The Carl-Zeiss-Gymnasium Jena is a state-funded German elite gymnasium school (grammar school) teaching highly gifted students in the fields of math, science, and technology. Before changing its profile to fully focus on these aspects, it was a regular German public gymnasium with a special separate school (Spezialschulteil) attached to it. The school is named for optician Carl Zeiss and is located in the city of Jena in Germany's federal state of Thuringia. The school accepts students from all over the federal state.

Johannisberg is a prominent ridge of the Wöllmisse, a Muschelkalk plateau east of Jena. The steeply sloping spur of land to the Saale Valley north of the district of Alt-Lobeda bears the remains of two important fortifications from the late Bronze Age and the early Middle Ages. Due to several archaeological excavations and finds recovered since the 1870s, they are among the few investigated fortifications from these periods in Thuringia. Of particular interest in archaeological and historical research is the early medieval castle. Due to its location directly on the eastern bank of the Saale, its dating and interpretation were and are strongly linked to considerations of the political-military eastern border of the Frankish empire. It is disputed whether it was a fortification of independent Slavic rulers or whether it was built under Frankish rule. According to a recent study, it may have been built in the second half of the 9th century in connection with the establishment of the limes sorabicus under Frankish influence.

The Wöllmisse is a high plateau which rises east of the Saale Valley in the State of Thuringia, Germany. The densely wooded Wöllmisse borders the Roda Valley in the South, the Saale Valley to the West, the Gembdenbachtal in the North, and the town of Bürgel and the Gleistal Valley in the East. In Bürgel, it is connected via a saddle with the formation of Jenzig-Hufeisen-Alte Gleisberg. Municipalities and districts that are within the Wöllmisse are (beginning in the North): Großlöbichau in the District of Kleinlöbichau; the Bürgel villages of Rodigast and Lucka; Schöngleina with Zinna; Schlöben with the towns of Mennewitz, Zöttnitz, Rabis, Fraitsch and Burgrabis; the Jena districts of Ilmnitz, Drackendorf, Lobeda, Wöllnitz, Ziegenhain, Camsdorf, Wenigen-Jena, Jenaprießnitz and Wogau. Also, the villages of Trockhausen, Gröben, and Podelsatz are considered a part of the Wöllmisse, all at the southern foot of the ridge.

The Zeiss-Planetarium in Jena, Germany, is the oldest continuously operating planetarium in the world. Engineered by German engineer Walther Bauersfeld, the building was opened on 18 July 1926.The Zeiss-Planetarium is a projection planetarium; the planets and fixed stars are projected onto the inner surface of a white cupola. It is owned and operated by the Ernst-Abbe-Stiftung.
