Sils, Girona

Lake Sils, Catalan Estany de Sils or Llac de Sils, is a freshwater dry lake with residual wetlands and marshes located in Caldes de Malavella, Maçanet de la Selva and Sils municipal terms, in the comarca of Selva, Catalonia, Spain. Located in a tectonic basin, this lake was the largest natural lake in Catalonia before being drained in the nineteenth century.

Vidreres is a municipality in the comarca of La Selva, the province of Girona and autonomous community of Catalonia, Spain. The name of Vitrariis appears in the 12th century and it meant 'vidriera' or 'vitralleria', which in english means stained glass. But the origin or the cause of that name is yet unknown. A really popular fest is "El Ranxo", the name of a soup with rice as the main ingredient, that it is made on the Tuesday of the week of carnival, for all the villagers. Every year it takes place the Ludibàsquet, a basketball fest. Some of the places of interest that you can visit are the Sant Iscle's castle, Castell de Sant Iscle, from the 12th century. Or also the church of Santa Susana, of romanic origin, located in Caulès, a mountain in Vidreres.

Riudarenes is a village in the province of Girona and autonomous community of Catalonia, Spain. The municipality covers an area of 47.6 square kilometres (18.4 sq mi) and the population in 2014 was 2,148.

The Catalunya Championship was a professional golf tournament that was held 28 April – 1 May 2022 at the PGA Catalunya Resort in Girona, Spain. The tournament was created as a one-off event after the Volvo China Open; originally scheduled to take place the same week was postponed. It will be played the week after the ISPS Handa Championship in Spain; another one-off event created for the 2022 schedule.Adri Arnaus won the event by shooting a final-round 65 to tie Oliver Bekker at 11 under-par. Arnaus defeated Bekker in a six hole sudden-death playoff.

Caldes de Malavella is a municipality of the comarca of Selva in Catalonia, Spain. In 2014, its population was 7,130. The place was formerly very famous for its thermal baths.

Eix Transversal (English: Transversal Arterial Road; lit. Transversal Axis), labelled C-25, is a primary highway in Catalonia, Spain. It crosses the Catalan Transversal Range mountainous region, connecting the northern end of the Catalan Coastal Depression with the Catalan Central Depression.According to the current coding for highways managed by the Generalitat de Catalunya, the first number C-25 indicates that is mainly a west-eastbound highway, and the second number C-25 indicates that is the fifth southernmost. The road begins at the intersection with Autovía A-2, near Cervera (comarca of Segarra), and finishes at Cassà de la Selva (comarca of Gironès), with a total length of 141 km.

Maçanet-Massanes is a Rodalies de Catalunya open triangular railway station serving Maçanet de la Selva and Massanes, in Catalonia, Spain. It is located at the junction where the railway coming from Barcelona via Mataró converges with the Barcelona–Cerbère railway, lying about 5 and 1.9 kilometres (3.1 and 1.2 mi) away from the urban centers of Maçanet de la Selva and Massanes, respectively. On the Barcelona–Cerbère railway, the station is between Hostalric and Sils, and it is the northern terminus of the railway coming from Mataró. The station serves as the northern terminus of Barcelona commuter rail service lines R1 and R2 Nord as well as a stop for all trains on regional line R11. On 24 March 2014 (2014-03-24), Girona commuter rail service line RG1 also started services, providing a direct connection between the Maresme and the Girona areas without having to interchange at this station.Under the name "Riera de Santa Coloma", the station was first opened on 27 August 1860 (1860-08-27) with the construction of the Barcelona–Portbou Railway on its section from Granollers to this location, which was carried out by Compañía del Camino de Hierro del Norte ("Northern Railway Company"). One year later, on 1 August 1861 (1861-08-01), Camino de Hierro del Este ("Eastern Railway") opened the extension of the Barcelona–Mataró Railway from Arenys de Mar to the already existing station, leading to the connection of both railways.In September 2011, Adif, the owner of the station, concluded the refurbishment of the station in order to make it accessible. This operation involved the installation of elevators and the renovation of the platforms, including the construction of a new station building on the easternmost side of the tracks.

Vilobí d'Onyar is a municipality in the comarca of the Selva in Catalonia, Spain. It is situated in the valley of the Onyar river, on the GE-533 road between Santa Coloma de Farners and Riudellots de la Selva. A substantial part of the northern portion of the municipality is taken up by Girona-Costa Brava Airport.

Britannia Airways Flight 226A was an international passenger flight from Cardiff, Wales to Girona, Spain, operated by charter airliner Britannia Airways. On 14 September 1999, the Boeing 757-204 aircraft suffered a crash landing and broke apart during a thunderstorm in Girona-Costa Brava Airport. Of the 236 passengers and nine crew on board, two were seriously injured and 41 sustained minor injuries. One of the passengers who had apparently sustained only minor injuries died five days later of unsuspected internal injuries. The aircraft involved in the crash, Boeing 757-204 registration G-BYAG, was damaged beyond economical repair and scrapped.The body that was responsible for the investigation of the crash, the Civil Aviation Accident and Incident Investigation Commission (CIAIAC), concluded that the crash had been caused by destabilized approach, loss of external reference and loss of automatic height callouts while landing in Girona. The aircraft entered a high rate of descent with a nose down attitude, creating an impact that was violent enough to dislodge the nose landing gear to the back and caused it to crash onto the aircraft's main electrical unit, resulting in an electrical failure that disabled all deceleration systems and in a sudden production of unwanted forward thrust. The aircraft was unable to stop and eventually veered off the runway.: 92 

Girona–Costa Brava Airport (IATA: GRO, ICAO: LEGE) (Catalan: Aeroport de Girona-Costa Brava, Spanish: Aeropuerto de Gerona-Costa Brava) is an airport located 12.5 km (7.8 mi) southwest of the city of Girona, next to the small village of Vilobí d'Onyar, in the north-east of Catalonia, Spain. The airport is well connected to the Costa Brava and the Pyrenees. Girona Airport is used as an alternative airport for Barcelona as well, even though the airport is 74 km (46 mi) north of the center of Barcelona.

Fogars de la Selva is a municipality in the comarca of the Selva in Catalonia, Spain. It is situated to the north of the Montnegre range, and is linked to Tordera by a local road. The village used to be called Fogars de Tordera, and is the only municipality in the Selva to be part of the province of Barcelona rather than the province of Girona.
