Crooked Lake Canal

Keuka Lake Outlet is a river located in Yates County, New York. It drains Keuka Lake and flows into Seneca Lake by Dresden, New York. The Crooked Lake Canal was developed along the route of the river. The canal was later replaced by a railroad which is now a hiking and cycling trail, the Keuka Outlet Trail.

Christopher Willis House is a historic home located at Dresden in Yates County, New York. It is a Greek Revival/Italianate style structure built about 1830.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1994.

Robert Ingersoll Birthplace, also known as Robert Green Ingersoll Birthplace Museum, is a historic home located at Dresden in Yates County, New York. It is a Federal-style structure that consists of a two-story, three-bay, gable-roofed central block with a two-part, 1+1⁄2-story saltbox ell on the west side. The central block and the front portion of the ell were built separately and joined sometime before they were moved to their present location prior to 1833. The rear portion of the ell was added on-site at the current location at an unknown date. The house was the birthplace of noted agnostic and politician Robert G. Ingersoll (1833–1899). It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988, and added to New York State's Register of Historic Places in 1987.

Dresden is a village in Yates County, New York, United States. The population was 308 at the 2010 census. The village was named after Dresden in Germany. The Village of Dresden is located in the Town of Torrey and is twelve miles south of Geneva. Dresden is located in the Finger Lakes Region of New York.

Torrey is a town in Yates County, New York, United States. The population was 1,282 at the 2010 census. The name is taken from that of early county political leader Henry Torrey. The Town of Torrey is in the east central part of the county and is south of Geneva. The town of Torrey is unrelated to the 10,000+ acre Torrey Farms, located in Elba and Potter, which is one of the largest farms in New York.

Crooked Lake Outlet Historic District is a national historic district located near Penn Yan in Yates County, New York. The district is located along a seven-mile recreational trail (the Keuka Lake Outlet Trail) that parallels the Keuka Lake Outlet. The district includes several mill sites along the gorge. It also includes nine areas that contain surface and subsurface archaeological remains.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996.

A tunnel valley is a U-shaped valley originally cut under the glacial ice near the margin of continental ice sheets such as that now covering Antarctica and formerly covering portions of all continents during past glacial ages. They can be as long as 100 km (62 mi), 4 km (2.5 mi) wide, and 400 m (1,300 ft) deep. Tunnel valleys were formed by subglacial erosion by water and served as subglacial drainage pathways carrying large volumes of meltwater. Their cross-sections often exhibit steep-sided flanks similar to fjord walls. They presently appear as dry valleys, lakes, seabed depressions, and as areas filled with sediment. If they are filled with sediment, their lower layers are filled primarily with glacial, glaciofluvial or glaciolacustrine sediment, supplemented by upper layers of temperate infill. They can be found in areas formerly covered by glacial ice sheets including Africa, Asia, North America, Europe, Australia and offshore in the North Sea, the Atlantic and in waters near Antarctica. Tunnel valleys appear in the technical literature under several terms, including tunnel channels, subglacial valleys, iceways, snake coils and linear incisions.

Young-Leach Cobblestone Farmhouse and Barn Complex is a historic home located at Torrey in Yates County, New York. The farmhouse was built about 1836 and is a large late Federal / early Greek Revival style cobblestone structure. It is built of variously colored and shaped field cobbles. The farmhouse is among the nine surviving cobblestone buildings in Yates County. The barn complex includes two barns, a shed, machine shed, and a corn crib.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992.

The Finger Lakes AVA is an American Viticultural Area located in Upstate New York, south of Lake Ontario. It was established in 1982 and encompasses the eleven Finger Lakes, but the area around Canandaigua, Keuka, Seneca, and Cayuga Lakes contain the vast majority of vineyard plantings in the AVA. Cayuga and Seneca Lakes each have their own American Viticultural Areas completely contained within the Finger Lakes AVA (Cayuga Lake AVA and Seneca Lake AVA). The Finger Lakes AVA includes 11,000 acres (4,452 ha) of vineyards and is the largest wine-producing region in New York State.

Angus Cobblestone Farmhouse and Barn Complex is a historic home and barn located at Benton in Yates County, New York. The complex consists of the farmhouse, was constructed about 1831–1834, and three contributing outbuildings. The farmhouse is an example of vernacular Greek Revival style, cobblestone domestic architecture. The exterior walls are built of variously shaped and colored field cobbles. Also on the property are two large frame barns and a small shed. The farmhouse is among the nine surviving cobblestone buildings in Yates County.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992.

Seneca Lake is the largest of the glacial Finger Lakes of the U.S. state of New York, and the deepest glacial lake entirely within the state. It is promoted as being the lake trout capital of the world, and is host of the National Lake Trout Derby. Because of its depth and relative ease of access, the US Navy uses Seneca Lake to perform test and evaluation of equipment ranging from single element transducers to complex sonar arrays and systems. The lake takes its name from the Seneca nation of Native Americans. At the north end of Seneca Lake is the city of Geneva, New York, home of Hobart and William Smith Colleges and the New York State Agricultural Experiment Station, a division of Cornell University. At the south end of the lake is the village of Watkins Glen, New York, famed for auto racing (hosting Watkins Glen International racetrack) and waterfalls. Due to Seneca Lake's unique macroclimate it is home to over 50 wineries, many of them farm wineries and is the location of the Seneca Lake AVA. (See Seneca Lake wine trail).

Sampson State Park (along with Sampson State Park Beach) is a 2,070-acre (8.4 km2) state park located in Seneca County, New York. The park is south of the city of Geneva in the Town of Romulus on the east shore of Seneca Lake, one of the Finger Lakes. The park is located on the site of the former Sampson Naval Training Station, which later became the Sampson Air Force Base.
