Griffin–Floyd Hall

The University of Florida Campus Historic District is a historic district on the campus of the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida. The district, bounded by West University Avenue, Southwest 13th Street, Stadium Road and Gale Lemerand Drive, encompasses approximately 650 acres (2.6 km2) and contains 11 listed buildings plus contributing properties. On April 20, 1989, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places. On June 24, 2008, additional information was approved which resulted in the addition of 6 contributing properties (5 buildings plus the Plaza of the Americas to the district.)

The University of Florida College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) is the college for the liberal arts and sciences of the University of Florida, and the largest of the university's 16 academic colleges. Most core curriculum classes, 43 majors, and 47 minors are part of the college. The university reports that more than 700 faculty members teach at least 35,000 students each year, with more than 11,000 undergraduates pursuing a degree from the college and 1,500 graduate students are also attaining graduate degrees in the college.The college faculty have received a variety of national and international awards, including the Pulitzer Prize, Guggenheim Fellowships, Senior Fulbright Awards, National Science Foundation Fellowships, Presidential Young Investigator Awards and National Endowment for the Humanities Fellowships. They hold memberships in the National Academy of Sciences, the Nobel Prize Committee, the Swedish Royal Academy of Sciences and the Royal Societies of London and Edinburgh.[2] Liberal Arts and Sciences students have numerous scholarships and awards for their academic performance. During the past several years, CLAS students have been recognized as a Rhodes Scholar, Barry Goldwater Scholars, Harry Truman Scholars, and James Madison Scholars.

The Leigh Hall, originally known as the Chemistry-Pharmacy Building, is an historic building on the campus of the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida, in the United States. It was designed by Rudolph Weaver in the Collegiate Gothic style and was built in 1927. In 1949 the pharmacy college moved to new quarters and the building was renamed Leigh Hall for Townes R. Leigh, longtime chairman of the chemistry department. A west wing was added in 1949 and the building was renovated in 1994.Leigh Hall is a contributing property in the University of Florida Campus Historic District which was added to the National Register of Historic Places on April 20, 1989.

The Century Tower is a 157-foot-tall (48 m) bell tower containing a carillon in the center of the University of Florida campus in Gainesville, Florida, United States.

Dauer Hall is a historic building on the campus of the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida, in the United States. Dauer Hall is a contributing property in the University of Florida Campus Historic District which was added to the National Register of Historic Places on April 20, 1989.

The Plaza of the Americas is a major center of student activity on the campus of the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida. It is located in the quad between Library West, Peabody Hall, the University Auditorium, and the Chemistry Building.In 2008, the Plaza of the Americas became a contributing property in the University of Florida Campus Historic District, which had been added to the National Register of Historic Places on April 20, 1989.

The University Auditorium, originally known as the Memorial Auditorium and sometimes called the University of Florida Auditorium, is a historic building on the campus of the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida, in the United States. It was designed by William Augustus Edwards in the Collegiate Gothic style and was built between 1922-1924. It was restored and expanded in 1977 by architect James McGinley. The expansion, which added a new entrance and lobbies, was designed to complement but not match the original architecture. It is a contributing property in the University of Florida Campus Historic District which was added to the National Register of Historic Places on April 20, 1989. On April 18, 2012, the AIA's Florida Chapter placed University Auditorium on its list of Florida Architecture: 100 Years. 100 Places.

The Bob Graham Center for Public Service, housed at the University of Florida in Gainesville, is a community of students, scholars and citizens. The center was founded by the former Florida Governor and U.S. Senator Bob Graham. The center, located in Pugh Hall on the University of Florida campus, held its grand opening in March 2008.

Newell Hall is a historic site in Gainesville, Florida, United States. It is located in the northeastern section of the University of Florida. On June 27, 1979, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. Formerly home to the Department of Soil and Water Science, the building is currently used as a 24/7 study space for university students to collaborate.

Buckman Hall is a historic building located in Murphree Area on the University of Florida campus in Gainesville, Florida, United States. It was designed by architect William A. Edwards in the Collegiate Gothic style and opened in 1906 as one of the two original buildings on the University of Florida's Gainesville campus along with nearby Thomas Hall. It once was a multi-purpose facility but has been used exclusively as a student dormitory since the 1940s. Buckman Hall was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places on January 11, 1974.

Sledd Hall is an historic student residence building in Murphree Area on the northern edge of the University of Florida campus in Gainesville, Florida. Built in 1929, the dormitory was designed by architect Rudolph Weaver in the Collegiate Gothic style. It is a contributing property in the University of Florida Campus Historic District. Sledd Hall was dedicated to the university's first president, Andrew Sledd, who served from 1905 to 1909. For the first ten years of its existence, the building was known as "New Dormitory," and it was renamed following Sledd's death in 1939.Sledd Hall is one of several University of Florida buildings that appear in the Sean Connery film Just Cause as a stand-in for the campus of Harvard University.

The Marston Science Library, often called Marston, is the science and engineering library of the University of Florida (UF) located in Gainesville, Florida. Administered by the university's George A. Smathers Libraries system, Marston hosts the university's extensive collections in agriculture, biological sciences, chemical and physical sciences, engineering, mathematics, and statistics, as well as librarians trained to help students and faculty working in these fields. It is located in the center of UF's campus adjacent to campus landmarks such as Turlington Hall, the University Auditorium, and Century Tower.
