Oakley (Fife) railway station

Oakley United Football Club are a Scottish football club based in Oakley, Fife. Formed in 1964, they play their home games at Blairwood Park. The club's colours are maroon and light blue. The team plays in the East of Scotland Football League, having moved from the SJFA East Region South Division in 2018.In season 2005–06, they won the Fife District championship to gain promotion to the East Superleague, having been relegated from the same division in season 2004–05. At the end of season 2006–07 they were relegated from the East Superleague. The team has been managed since November 2018 by Stewart Kenny until he joined Hill o’beath in summer 2023.

Comrie ( locally or ); is a village in Fife, Scotland, located immediately west of the neighbouring village of Oakley, 6.2 miles (9.98 km) west of Dunfermline on the A907. In 2019 it had an estimated population of 810, including one young man by the name of Yates Barlow - renowned for eating his piece down the cycle track when feigning full time employment.

Oakley is a village in Fife, Scotland located at the mutual border of Carnock and Culross parishes, Fife, 5+1⁄2 miles (9 kilometres) west of Dunfermline on the A907. The village was built in connection with the Forth or Oakley Ironworks (1846), now all gone along with the colliery industry. The ironworks, which ceased production many years ago, had six furnaces, with stacks 180 feet (55 metres) high, and the engine-house was built with walls to comprise 60 cu ft (1.7 m3) of stone below the surface of the ground. Subsequent to their use in the ironworks, the buildings were used as a sawmill producing rough timber for railway sleepers, fence posts and the like. Comrie Colliery closed in 1986, and the village took many years to recover from this major employer's demise.

Carnock (Scottish Gaelic: A' Chàrnaich) is a village and parish of Fife, Scotland, 4+1⁄4 miles (7 kilometres) west of Dunfermline. It is 1+1⁄4 miles (2 kilometres) east of Oakley, Fife. The name of the village derives from Scottish Gaelic, from ceàrn ("corner"), with a suffix denoting a toponym, thus giving "[the] corner place". Carnock is known to have had military significance in antiquity. The civil parish had a population of 5,927 as of 2011.

Saline is a village and parish in Fife, Scotland, situated 5 miles (8.0 km) to the north-west of Dunfermline. It lies in an elevated position on the western slopes of the Cleish Hills. At the 2001 census the population was 1188, a decline from the 1235 recorded in the 1991 census. The village has a primary school, a parish church and a golf course. The glen runs from the bottom of the main street through to neighbouring Steelend. The civil parish has a population of 1,762 (in 2011) and an area of 8,757 acres.The village is dominated to the east-north-east by Saline Hill, 359 meters OD, with a hill fort on the eastern summit. The smaller hill to the south of east at Bandrum has a standing stone on the peak.

Blairhall is a village in West Fife, Scotland. It is situated 1.1 miles (1.77 km) west of Comrie, and 6.7 miles (10.783 km) west of Dunfermline. The village was originally a small hamlet but was expanded in 1911 to house the miners from a nearby colliery. Today Blairhall has a primary school and a community leisure centre. The village has a population of around 1000 people.Nearly 1 mile (1.6 km) to the south, beyond Shiresmill, and to the west of the Bluther Burn, stands the 17th-century laird's house of Blairhall, which was the birthplace (c.1630) of Sir William Bruce, later baronet of Balcaskie and then Kinross, and Surveyor-General to King Charles II.In 2008, a further expansion of the village took place to the northwest, in an area called the Coo Park which was formerly the grounds of Comrie Castle. The park was landscaped with several parkland trees and a rigg-and-furrow system of cultivation from earlier times was evident. The house was owned by a James Anderson of Blairgowrie in the 1850s, but was demolished in the early 1960s. In the grounds there remain parkland trees, an overgrown ha-ha and the site of a curling pond.

Steelend is a former mining village in West Fife, Scotland, located on the B914 road approximately three-quarters of a mile east of the village of Saline and four miles north-west of Dunfermline. The village is home to a community centre and the Steelend Miners Welfare Club. A church was once located in the village but was demolished in the 1980s. In 1991 it had a population of 320.The now-defunct Steelend Victoria F.C. were based at Woodside Park on the east side of the village until 2013 when the club folded due to financial issues. The name comes from a farm on Saline Hill north of Steelend.A goods railway station once existed to the east of the village on the West of Fife Mineral Railway. The station served the several collieries that once operated nearby to Steelend, which included Sunnybraes Colliery, Saline Valley Colliery, Killernie Colliery and North Steelend Colliery.The public transport serves the village in the form of buses which run to Dunfermline, Falkirk or Rosyth.To the south of the village is Bandrum Hill, on top of which is a large standing stone, which are accessible from Steelend by a path. To the north of the village is the eastern end of Saline Glen, which carries the Saline Burn and a footpath which leads west into the centre of Saline.

Torryburn (previously called Torry/ Torrie) is a village and parish in Fife, Scotland, lying on the north shore of the Firth of Forth. It is one of a number of old port communities on this coast and at one point served as port for Dunfermline. It lies in the Bay of Torry in south western Fife. The civil parish has a population of 1,587 (in 2011).

Cairneyhill is a village in West Fife, Scotland. It is 3 miles west of Dunfermline, on the A994, and has a population of around 2,510 (mid-2020 est.)The village's architecture is a mix of old weavers' cottages and modern suburban housing estates. The village is located north and west of the A985, a major trunk road that provides fast travel by car or bus to the Kincardine Bridge, the M90 Motorway and the Queensferry Crossing/Forth Road Bridge. The Firth of Forth is located 1.5 miles south of Cairneyhill, which is 1 mile (1.6 km) west of Crossford.

Dunfermline (Scottish Gaelic: Dùn Phàrlain, Scots: Dunfaurlin) was a local government district in the Fife region of Scotland from 1975 to 1996, lying to the south-west of the regional capital Glenrothes.
