The Bisalta, also known as Besimauda, is a mountain of Piedmont, Italy. It is part of the Ligurian Alps and has an elevation of 2,231 metres (7,320 ft). The mountain is located between the Pesio valley and the smaller valleys of the Colla and Josina rivers, in the territory of Boves and Peveragno, in the Province of Cuneo. It has two peaks (the main one 2,231 meters above sea level, the subpeak 2,018 meters above sea level), from which it derives its name ("bis alta", "twice high"). Both the main peak and the subpeak have a summit cross. Due to its location the Bisalta is an exceptional panoramic point, allowing to see even the Ligurian Sea in particularly clear days. In the 19th century, the Bisalta was climbed by mountaineers such as Douglas Freshfield and W. A. B. Coolidge. During the Second World War, it became a base for Italian partisan groups (Boves massacre). In the 1950s Felice Ippolito carried out prospections in the search of uranium, and in July 1960 a lightning killed four people when it hit the summit cross during a religious ceremony. The name Bisalta is sometimes used to refer to the entire massif formed by the Bisalta proper and the nearby Bric Costa Rossa.

Peveragno (Poranh in Occitan, Povragn in Piedmontese) is an Italian town of 5,584 inhabitants (1-1-2017) in the province of Cuneo, in Piedmont. It belongs to the Union of Communes of the Maritime Alps and to the Occitan language area.

Robilante is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Cuneo in the Italian region Piedmont, located about 90 kilometres (56 mi) south of Turin and about 10 kilometres (6 mi) southwest of Cuneo. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 2,362 and an area of 24.9 square kilometres (9.6 sq mi).The municipality of Robilante contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Tetto Pettavino, Malandre, Montasso and Tetto Chiappello. Robilante borders the following municipalities: Boves, Roaschia, Roccavione, and Vernante.

Mirabello Castle (or Chiusa Castle) is an architectural structure of Roman origin located in the municipality of Chiusa di Pesio (Province of Cuneo).

Beinette is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Cuneo in the Italian region Piedmont, located about 80 kilometres (50 mi) south of Turin and about 8 kilometres (5 mi) east of Cuneo. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 2,898 and an area of 17.4 square kilometres (6.7 sq mi).Beinette borders the following municipalities: Chiusa di Pesio, Cuneo, Margarita, Morozzo, and Peveragno.

The Italian Roman Catholic Diocese of Cuneo (Latin: Dioecesis Cuneensis) was created in 1817, from territory that previously had belonged to the Diocese of Mondovì. It is suffragan of the Archdiocese of Turin. The first bishop of Cuneo was Bruno di Samone. The city of Cuneo is a provincial capital, the metropolis of the civil Province of Cuneo, Piedmont and covered 1,566 square kilometers (604 Square Miles).

Cuneo (Italian), or Coni (Piedmontese), is a province in the southwest of the Piedmont region of Italy. To the west it borders on the French region of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur (departments of Alpes-Maritimes, Alpes-de-Haute-Provence and Hautes-Alpes). To the north it borders with the Metropolitan City of Turin. To the east it borders with the province of Asti. To the south it borders with the Ligurian provinces of Savona and Imperia. The Battle of Roccavione was the last battle of the invasion of the territory of Asti by Angevine troops from the Kingdom of Sicily. Charles I of Sicily was defeated, and his entire invasion failed. The battle was also the end of the Astigiani participation in the wars of the Guelphs and Ghibellines, and the end of Charles' intervention in the rest of the Italian Peninsula.

Borgo San Dalmazzo was an internment camp operated by Nazi Germany in Borgo San Dalmazzo, Piedmont, Italy. The camp operated under German control from September to November 1943 and, following that, under the control of the Italian Social Republic from December 1943 to February 1944. Approximately 375 Jewish Italians and 349 refugees from other countries (119 from Poland as well as refugees from France, the Soviet Union, Germany, Austria, Romania, Hungary, Croatia and Greece), were held at Borgo San Dalmazzo until deported to Auschwitz and other German camps where all but a few were murdered.

Cuneo (Italian: [ˈkuːneo] (listen); Piedmontese: Coni [ˈkʊni]; Occitan: Coni/Couni [ˈkuni]; French: Coni [kɔˈni]) is a city and comune in Piedmont, Italy, the capital of the province of Cuneo, the fourth largest of Italy’s provinces by area. It is located at 550 metres (1,804 ft) in the south-west of Piedmont, at the confluence of the rivers Stura and Gesso. Cuneo is bounded by the municipalities of Beinette, Borgo San Dalmazzo, Boves, Busca, Caraglio, Castelletto Stura, Centallo, Cervasca, Morozzo, Peveragno, Tarantasca and Vignolo.It is located near six mountain passes: Colle della Maddalena at 1,996 metres (6,549 ft) Colle di Tenda at 1,871 metres (6,138 ft) – Tunnel of Tenda at 1,300 metres (4,300 ft), 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) long Colle del Melogno at 1,027 metres (3,369 ft) Colle San Bernardo at 957 metres (3,140 ft) Colle di Nava at 934 metres (3,064 ft) Colle di Cadibona at 459 metres (1,506 ft).
