Watergate Beach

Boardmasters Festival is an annual event held in Cornwall, United Kingdom, usually spanning five days on the second weekend of August. The event is a combination of live music and surfing/skateboarding competitions in and around the town of Newquay. The festival was founded in 1981 as a surfing competition, and in 2005 it was expanded to include music acts, taking place at Watergate Bay. The current capacity is 53,000.The majority of the music performances take place to the north of Newquay near Watergate Bay. The Men's Pro 5 Star WQS surf competition takes place on Fistral Beach where a skate ramp is built for the BMX and Skateboard competitions. Other sporting events include The Women's Open, WSL Men's Longboard, WSL Women's Longboard, Boys/Girls Pro Junior and Under 12's. It also has a well-being program featuring aerial yoga, massages, wood-fired hot tubs and champagne.The event is owned and managed by Vision Nine Group.

The River Menalhyl (Cornish: Dowr Melynheyl, meaning river of the estuary mill) is a river in Cornwall, England, that flows through the civil parishes of St Columb Major and Mawgan-in-Pydar. Its length is about 12 miles and it flows in a generally north-west direction. The name comes from the Cornish words melyn meaning mill and heyl meaning estuary - estuary mills. The name was recorded as Mellynheyl in the 19th century, but it had been known as Glyvion.

St Columb Canal sometimes referred to as Edyvean's Canal, was an abortive canal scheme in Cornwall, England, designed for the carriage of sea sand for use as manure. It was authorised in 1773, and part of it may have been briefly used around 1780.

Mawgan Porth (in Cornish: Porth Maugan, meaning "St. Mawgan's cove", or Porth Glyvyan, meaning "cove of the Gluvian River") is a beach and small settlement in north Cornwall, England. It is north of Watergate Bay, approximately four miles (6 km) north of Newquay, on the Atlantic Ocean coast. The town has recently seen a number of celebrities purchasing properties in the area leading to it becoming known as Hollywood-on-SeaMawgan Porth is in the civil parish of Mawgan-in-Pydar, at the seaward end of the Vale of Lanherne (or Vale of Mawgan) where the River Menalhyl meets the sea. The hamlet consists of a pub, a general store, and several hotels, guest houses and caravan parks. The sandy beach, backed by dunes with cliffs at each end, is quality-assessed and supervised by lifeguards during the summer. It is a popular surfing location. The South West Coast Path passes behind the beach and the area attracts holiday-makers.There are a number of local holiday parks in Mawgan Porth. The oldest is Magic Cove Touring Park; Cosy Corner is nearest to the beach, and then Sun Haven Valley Holiday Park.

Watergate Bay (Standard Written Form: Porth Tregoryan, meaning cove at Coryan's farmstead/village) is a long bay or beach flanked by cliffs centred two miles NNE of Newquay below the B3276 Newquay to Padstow road near the hamlet of Tregurrian in Cornwall, United Kingdom. It faces the Atlantic Ocean, adjacent to Newquay Bay. The 2-mile (3.2 km) sandy beach and exposed site is popular for non-powered water sports, kite flying, and sand art. Since May 2007, Watergate Bay hosts the English Nationals Surfing Championships.

Treviglas Academy is a coeducational secondary school and sixth form located in Newquay, Cornwall, England. The age range of the students is 11 to 18. The original buildings were opened in the early 1960s but further development has taken place on a regular basis ever since, such as the library, information technology rooms and science facilities as well as the post-16 learning centre. Treviglas opened a new sports facility, The Dome, in October 2001 and, in February 2004, a new dedicated sixth form and community learning block was opened. The SportsHub, funded by Sport England, opened in 2012. From the playing fields there are views to the sea dropping down toward Porth, with the village of St Columb Minor neighbouring the college. As of January 2019, Treviglas Community College became part of The Roseland Multi Academy Trust and became Treviglas Academy. Treviglas was the first school in the county to receive Business and Enterprise status and was awarded an overall Outstanding by Ofsted for the second consecutive time in their second most recent inspection (2012). As of July 2017 the school has now been judged Inadequate by OfSTED in their most recent inspection. The college focuses on core academic subjects and vocational training for students, including Post-16 academies which teach students lifelong learning and work place skills at A-Level. The college has around 900 students. This includes around 120 in the sixth form centre. The college draws students from 13 primary schools, including the town of Newquay and surrounding rural communities.

Porth is a seaside hamlet in the civil parish of Newquay, Cornwall, England.Porth is near the village of St Columb Minor. It was known as St. Columb Porth, Originally a small port for the village and was known for importing coal, salt, lime and a multitude of general cargoes. The village is to the east of a 1 kilometre (0.62 mi) sandy inlet with the Iron Age promontory fort of Trevelgue Head, on the northern side.

Royal Air Force St Mawgan or more simply RAF St Mawgan is a Royal Air Force station near St Mawgan and Newquay in Cornwall, England. In 2008 the runway part of the site was handed over to Newquay Airport. The remainder of the station continues to operate under the command of the RAF. RAF St Mawgan used to have the widest military runway in the UK (300 ft) and was the home of the Cornwall Air Ambulance service and more recently 505 (Wessex) Squadron Royal Auxiliary Air Force (RAuxAF).

Mawgan Porth Dark Age Village is a small ancient settlement consisting of 3 courtyard house complexes and a cemetery on the North coast of Cornwall dating from the 10th century. It was excavated in 1950-54 by Rupert Bruce-Mitford. The site was first discovered after the apparent after the discovery of the skeleton in 1934. The landowner. Mr P A Wailes, had wanted to build on the land and soundings to test the subsoil revealed the skeleton, stone walls, pottery and bone fragments.
