Kralingse Plas

Kralingen-Crooswijk (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈkraː.ˌlɪ.ŋə(n) ˈkroːs.ʋɛi̯k]) is a township of the city of Rotterdam, Netherlands. It is located at the immediate east of the city's centre. As of 2005 it has about 52,379 inhabitants and has a territory of about 1,286 ha. It consists of the two boroughs Kralingen and Crooswijk, the former being a village itself until it was incorporated in the city of Rotterdam in the late 19th century. Kralingen-Crooswijk is home to the football club Excelsior Rotterdam and the economics and social studies faculties of the Erasmus University are located within its borders. It is linked to the city centre by the Caland Metroline, as well as several Rotterdam tram and bus lines. On the northern side of the municipality is located Het Kralingse Bos, a large park surrounding an artificial lake. Many inhabitants of the city use this park for relaxation and sport. On the eastern side the ultra modern company complex Brainpark can be found. Originally Crooswijk and Kralingen were two different districts. Crooswijk being in the north/centre of Rotterdam and Kralingen being more on the east side.

Park Rozenburg is a city park in the Rotterdam neighbourhood Kralingen. The park is a protected municipality monument (Dutch: Gemeentelijk monument).

Voorschoterlaan is an underground subway station in the city of Rotterdam, located on the Rotterdam Metro lines A, B, and C. The station opened on 10 May 1982, the same date that the East-West Line (also formerly called the Caland line), of which it is a part, was opened. The station is located to the east of the city center, in the borough of Kralingen-Crooswijk. Overground people can get on at RET-Rotterdam tram line 7.

Kralingen is a former village in the Dutch province of South Holland, now a neighbourhood of Rotterdam. It is located about 3 kilometres east of the city centre, in the borough Kralingen-Crooswijk. Kralingen was a separate municipality until 1895, when it merged with Rotterdam. Previously, the high society of the growing city had their pleasure gardens and villas erected there in the 19th century, on the eastern outskirts of the village. The easternmost part of Kralingen, Woudestein, is where the main campus of Erasmus University Rotterdam and the Excelsior Rotterdam stadium are situated. Kralingen is home to a Louis XIV-XV style mansion which is on the national monument register. It is also the location of Kralingse Plas, a large surface water used for recreation, and the Kralingse Bos, a forest of 2 square kilometres that welcomed 100,000 visitors for the Kralingen Music Festival in 1970 which was the "European answer to Woodstock", with 20 rock and pop groups performing, including Pink Floyd, Jefferson Airplane, The Byrds and Santana. Footballer Robin van Persie was born and spent much of his youth in Kralingen. When Rotterdam was bombed on 14 May 1940, a large area in the western part of Kralingen went up in flames with it.

Terbregge is a neighborhood of Rotterdam, Netherlands. Terbregge has a typical Dutch landscape with windmills, water and cycling routes that lead through the Lage Bergse Bos and the Rotte countryside. The district has a varied living environment. History The current district consists of the former neighborhood of Terbregge, which was built around a bridge over the Rotte in the thirteenth century. The hamlet of 'Terbregge' is known to have existed in 1524. The windmill "De Vier Winden" is located in the old part on the Rotte. The district is now mainly known for the adjacent traffic junction, Terbregseplein, where the A16 motorway leads to the A20 Old Terbregge Oud Terbregge has a village character and is surrounded by water and greenery. The core is located east of the Terbregseweg. The ribbon development on the Rotte is part of the old part. Residents are involved and the bond with the neighborhood is strong. There is an active playground association and the Rotte is the base for a rowing association. The Alexander Church and the Princess Irene Bridge are iconic. New Terbregge Construction of the Nieuw Terbregge residential area started in 1999 between the Rotte and the A20 motorway. A playground for children has been taken into account in the construction of the district. The district also houses a sports complex where, among other things, the amateurs of Sparta play football. The Manna monument can be found on the noise barrier next to the district, which recalls the food drops in 1945 (under Operation Manna).

's-Gravenweg 168, Kralingen, Rotterdam is a Louis XIV-XV façade house ca. 1850 that is classified as a Dutch National Heritage Site (number: 32911).

Arboretum Trompenburg is a botanical garden in Rotterdam, Netherlands, which hosts a large collection of woody as well as herbaceous plants. It occupies an area of 7 ha and is situated 4 m below sea level, so a system of canals is used to drain the land. The history of the garden dates back to the 19th century. Since 1958 it has been open to the public daily for a small fee. Arboretum Trompenburg holds national plant collections of conifers, Quercus, Fagus, Rhododendron, Ligustrum, Rodgersia and Hosta.

The Boterdorpse Verlaat is a lock between the River Rotte and Strekvaart in Bergse Plassen in the municipality of Rotterdam. [1] The fairway was formerly used by vessels carrying malt wastes from Schiedam but nowadays is very rarely used even for pleasure. The lock dates from 1740 and has the characteristic performance of locks from that period. The lock walls are not brick, but of wood. The construction is up, along with wooden yokes. A similar lock is the Bleiswijkse Verlaat . Behind the gate is a fixed bridge, whose height in the closed position is only a few centimeters above the polder level .

The Admiraliteitsbrug is a drawbridge over the Buizengat in Rotterdam. The bridge is located on Willem Ruyslaan and connects Oostzeedijk to the Maasboulevard. The bridge has a passage width of 9.20 m (30.2 ft) and a vertical clearance of 2.75 m (9 ft 0 in). The bridge is unmanned and any request to open it must be submitted to the ministry (aangevraagd) at the Boerengatbrug. The bridge will not be operated if the Boerengatbrug or Oostbrug is opened or when the dam is closed.
