South Fork Rio Grande is a tributary of the Rio Grande in southern Colorado in the United States. It flows from a source in the Weminuche Wilderness of the San Juan Mountains to a confluence with the Rio Grande at the town of South Fork in Rio Grande County, Colorado.

The South San Juan Wilderness is a U.S. Wilderness Area located in the San Juan National Forest, east of Pagosa Springs, in southern Colorado. The area, which spans 158,790 acres, was designated a Wilderness Area and put into the National Wilderness Preservation System in 1980 by the United States Congress.The Conejos, San Juan, and Blanco rivers all begin in the area.The last known grizzly bear in Colorado was killed in the wilderness in 1979. Some believe that it is still home to a few grizzlies, but there is no sufficient evidence yet to prove this.

South Fork is a statutory town in Rio Grande County, Colorado, United States. It lies at the confluence of the South Fork and Rio Grande rivers. The population was 510 at the 2020 census.

Alpine is an unincorporated community and a census-designated place (CDP) located in and governed by Rio Grande County, Colorado, United States. The population of the Alpine CDP was 169 at the United States Census 2020. The South Fork post office (Zip Code 81154) serves the area.

Gerrard is a census-designated place (CDP) in and governed by Rio Grande County, Colorado, United States. The population of the Gerrard CDP was 264 at the 2020 United States Census. The South Fork post office (Zip Code 81154) serves the area.

KSLV-FM (96.5 FM, 96.5 The Fox) is a radio station broadcasting a classic rock music format. It is licensed to Del Norte, Colorado, United States. The station is currently owned by Jeanne Sue Sakers and Robert Trigilio, Jr., through licensee Buffalo Broadcasting of Colorado, LLC, and features programming from AP Radio and Dial Global.

The Keck Homestead, near Del Norte, Colorado, was homesteaded in 1876. It includes four log buildings built by Christian Keck and his sons, at a high altitude.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988. The listing included two contributing buildings and two contributing structures on 60 acres (24 ha).The house is a two-story L-shaped building on a dry stone foundation.

The Wagon Wheel Gap Railroad Station, in Creede, Colorado, was built in 1883. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976. It was a station on a narrow-gauge railroad line that opened in July, 1883.

Rio Grande National Forest is a 1.86 million-acre (7,530 km2) U.S. National Forest located in southwestern Colorado. The forest encompasses the San Luis Valley, which is the world's largest agricultural alpine valley, as well as one of the world's largest high deserts located around mountains. The Rio Grande rises in the forest, and the Continental Divide runs along most of its western border. The forest lies in parts of nine counties. In descending order of land area within the forest they are Saguache, Mineral, Conejos, Rio Grande, Hinsdale, San Juan, Alamosa, Archuleta, and Custer counties. Forest headquarters are currently located in Monte Vista, Colorado, but plan to move to Del Norte. There are local ranger district offices in Del Norte, La Jara, and Saguache.

The Wagon Wheel Gap Hot Springs Resort, near Creede, Colorado, is the historic name of what is now a dude ranch, the 4UR Ranch. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2019. Of 26 buildings on the property, 14 were deemed to be contributing to the historic character of the listed area, and there were 4 contributing structures and a contributing object.It was originally developed in the 1870s, with soaking pools and relatively simple lodging. The Wagon Wheel Gap Improvement Company bought the property in the 1890s and made improvements during 1902-05 which established a "rustic character".Artifacts include a dinner bell cast in about 1949.It is located about 8 miles (13 km) southeast of Creede, and about 1.5 miles (2.4 km) south of Wagon Wheel Gap, on the eastern edge of the Creede Caldera. It may be accessed by a dirt road, Goose Creek Road, which runs 1 mile (1.6 km) south from Colorado State Route 149 to the ranch, which is on the west side of Goose Creek, a tributary to the upper Rio Grande. Further south on the road is the Wagon Wheel Gap Fluospar Mine and Mill, on the east side of Goose Creek, which was also listed on the National Register in 2019.

Rio Grande County is a county located in the U.S. state of Colorado. As of the 2020 census, the population was 11,539. The county seat is Del Norte. The county is named for the Rio Grande (Spanish language for "Big River"), which flows through the county.
