Fairlawn is a city in Summit County, Ohio, United States, and a suburb of Akron. The population was 7,437 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Akron Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Cantors Assembly (CA) is the international association of hazzanim (cantors) affiliated with Conservative Judaism. Cantors Assembly was founded in 1947 to develop the profession of the hazzan, to foster the fellowship and welfare of hazzanim, and to establish a conservatory for hazzanim. The latter goal was realized in 1952 with the establishment of the Cantors Institute at the Jewish Theological Seminary of America. This Institute later developed into the H. L. Miller Cantorial School of the Jewish Theological Seminary of America. Cantors Assembly first allowed women to join in 1990; women have been ordained as hazzanim in Conservative Judaism since 1987.In 2013, Nancy Abramson became the first female president of Cantors Assembly.In 2017, Alisa Pomerantz-Boro became the second female president of Cantors Assembly.Cantors Assembly is the largest body of hazzanim in the world. Cantors Assembly's mission statement says that it serves its members and congregations while also helping "preserve and enhance the traditions of our people".

Montrose is an unincorporated community on the border between Bath Township, Copley Township, and the city of Fairlawn in Summit County, Ohio, United States. It is an area of restaurants, stores, and businesses located along a stretch of State Route 18 near Interstate 77. The community is served by the Fairlawn (44333) post office. It is included in the Montrose-Ghent census-designated place. It had been a quiet hamlet for much of its history, with such establishments as a drive-in theater, golf courses, and a church. It became a busy retail area in the 1990s as new commercial development moved in. Montrose was originally called Latta's Corners and then Ellis' Corners. The community first developed around a tavern built by one Mr. Latta. A post office called Montrose was established in 1849, and remained in operation until 1911. The present name most likely is derived from wild roses near the elevated town site.

Montrose-Ghent is a census-designated place (CDP) in Summit County, Ohio, United States, composed of the unincorporated communities of Montrose and Ghent. The population was 5,261 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Akron Metropolitan Statistical Area. Despite sharing a commercial district with Fairlawn, the regions are administratively separate.

Bath Township is one of the nine townships of Summit County, Ohio, United States. The 2000 census found 9,635 people in the township, a suburb of Akron.

Ghent is an unincorporated community in central Bath Township, Summit County, Ohio, United States. It lies in the area of Granger and Cleveland-Massillon roads, just north of the Ghent Road exit of Interstate 77. It is included in the Montrose-Ghent census-designated place. Today, it has a number of local businesses such a gas station, restaurants, a bakery and dental office.

Copley Township is one of the nine townships of Summit County, Ohio, United States. The 2000 census found 13,641 people in the township.

Copley is an unincorporated community in Summit County, in the U.S. state of Ohio.

On August 7, 2011, a mass shooting occurred in Copley Township, Summit County, Ohio, by 51-year-old Michael E. Hance. Seven people were shot dead before the gunman was shot and killed by Copley police officer Ben Campbell.

Botzum is a Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad train station in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, with a street address in Akron, Ohio. It is located adjacent to the Cuyahoga River and Riverview Road in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Initially a stop on the Valley Railway, trains began regular service at Botzum in 1880 — the station was a flag stop.

Botzum was a hamlet in Northampton Township, Summit County, Ohio around what is now the intersection of Bath and Riverview Roads in Akron and Cuyahoga Falls. Botzum began as a community along the Ohio and Erie Canal where the canal spread out to form the Yellow Creek Basin near Yellow Creek. This was thought to be a good place for business. There were two warehouses, a store, and a hotel there in 1827, set up by Nathaniel Hardy. [1]Botzum was platted in 1836 on 100 acres (0.4 km2) [2] as Niles by Peter Voris and some of his associates. The village was never actually built, though, due to the Panic of 1837. Eventually the lots were sold off, one of them to George Botzum. In 1866 the Buckeye post office opened up. In spite of this name, though, the railroad depot in town was called Botzum. The name of the post office was also changed to Botzum in 1893 to match the name of the depot[3]. In the 1920s the city of Akron purchased 800 acres (3.2 km2) of land at Botzum to build a sewage treatment plant, which opened in 1928 and remains there to this day[4]. There is no longer any sign that there was a community there. Along with the sewage plant it is known for a viewing station for great blue herons to the east where Bath Road crosses the Cuyahoga River. There is also a sign on the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath with a photograph of Botzum from 1875[5].
