The historic Firestone Building in downtown Gainesville, Florida is located on West University Avenue (SR 26) at the intersection on NW 3rd Street.

The Charles L. Blount Center, often referred to as simply the Blount Center, is a campus of Santa Fe College (SFC), located in Gainesville, Florida. Prior to it being a campus, the center served as an educational and outreach center for those in the downtown area. Though separate from the Blount Center, the nearby Blount Hall is considered a part of the overall Blount campus.

Gainesville Masonic Lodge No. 41 in Gainesville, Florida is a historic Masonic building, located at 215 North Main Street. It was constructed by Gainesville Masonic Lodge No. 41 in 1908. On May 29, 1998, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.

The Cox Furniture Store (also known as the Simonson Opera House or Edwards Opera House or New Baird Theater) c. 1890 is a historic site in Gainesville, Florida, United States. Built in the form and style of a small Romanesque Revival church, it is located at 19 Southeast First Avenue. On June 10, 1994, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.

The Star Garage (also known as the Crawford and Davis Livery Stable or Poole-Gable Motors) is a U.S. historic building in Gainesville, Florida. It is located at 119 Southeast 1st Avenue. On December 17, 1985, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.

The Hippodrome Theatre (locally known as The Hippodrome or The Hipp) is a regional professional theatre in downtown Gainesville, Florida, United States. It was founded in 1973 by local actors and was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places on July 10, 1979.

The Ballpark was a simple multi-purpose athletic field and community space near downtown Gainesville, Florida. It was laid out in the early 1880s and was used by various local amateur and semi-professional teams along with one season of spring training by the Philadelphia Phillies of Major League Baseball. The Ballpark also served as the initial home field for the University of Florida's football and baseball teams when they were established during the 1906-1907 academic year. The university built on-campus athletic facilities in the early 1900s and The Ballpark became a show grounds for local fairs and other outdoor events. Demand for land near the center of town increased after World War 2, prompting the city to subdivide and sell off most of the parcel in the late 1940s. A small community center and playground now occupy a corner of the former site.

The Shady Grove Primitive Baptist Church is a historic U.S. church in Gainesville, Florida. It is located at 804 Southwest Fifth Street. On October 5, 2005, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.

Mama Lo's was a soul food restaurant located in Gainesville, Florida, United States. It was founded by, operated by, and named for Lorene "Mama Lo" Alexander in 1975. It was known to be popular, said to be more than 200 customers for the lunch hour and even more at dinner. It served large portions for a cheap price. The restaurant closed in 1995. Located only a few blocks from the University of Florida and across the street from a railroad track, the establishment proved popular with students, townsfolk and travelers alike. It was also frequented by many local musicians such as Bo Diddley, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, The Stranger Band and Sister Hazel. UF alumni in the 2000s reminisced about their favorite Mama Lo's servings, such as chicken and rice, broccoli casserole, and sweet tea. It was said that through the Southern, home-style cooking Mama Lo served to loyal customers for over three decades, she put her four children through college in Gainesville. Mama Lo's was located at 618 NW 6th Street in Gainesville, Florida. Lorene "Mama Lo" Alexander died in 2007, at the age of 85.
